Intel / Universal....

As SL is for intel only, I'm a little surprised how many app's are still Universal and not just Intel... including iCal, Front Row Software Update...? (See System Profiler)

Does anyone know if there any way to specify the domain name when setting up exchange support in mail/ical? There's something about our server configuration that prevents me from making a connection, since our exchange server is of the form, 'exchange.mydomain.com'.

I also noticed that a remote connection via ssl doesn't seem to work or be an option? I have to actually be on my corporate network to access exchange via IMAP (the only access I was able to get working).

Thanks,

I let apple mail do all the work and it worked flawlessley

exposé improvements

Sorry if this has already been posted, I didn't have time to read through the comments, but this update fixes my one problem with the last version, which was that if you had multiple displays, exposé put all windows on the primary display before, and now it keeps windows on the display they're on.

Yup, that has been posted, and is a great fix.

This build seems to have disabled NTFS-3G for me. A reinstall of it didn't work either. Anyone else had the same problem?

i am not sure how it relates but this update fixed my ability to get in to one of my HDD's connected USB to the AEBS. i have 2 HDD's connected and before the update one of them always gave me the "cannot be accessed fix alias" warning and stopped that and worked perfectly after upgrading.

funny part is that i had just spent about an hour trying to fix this problem last night before i saw there was an update LOL

ooh well SL running even better now on 2.53 13" Pro :)

Anyone else seeing an issue where any application that uses SQLite (Mail, Linkinus, Address Book, etc.) takes forever to launch? Sampling shows it's churning on SQLite, and after 2-3 minutes the application finally finishes launching and then it's fine.

I've tried doing the standard maintenance but no go.

Probably for compatibility purposes since they still have to support older versions old Mac OS...

I think it has more to do with having a 32bit intel version and a 64bit intel version. Especially since the snow leopard version of those apps aren't going to be back ported to leopard.

I see some weird stuff going on under the hood.

I looked at System.log and there was an entry in there about NTFS with Flags "R W", don't have the exact string off hand, but it was having issues spewing out errors and to run check disk on the drive. The drive was still accessible, but it seemed odd.

I had heard rumors of Snow being read/write on NTFS, maybe they are still working on it...

YES. I was having that exact same problem as well. Mail just simply refused to sort by date received -> descending. Glad I'm not alone. I've got 53 minutes remaining. Let's see what we get.

I agree that Apple needs to beef up its software update servers, even though currently this is limited to us developers only for testing. But still, when all the developers get on, all we see is "6 hours remaining".

"Us developers" and here you are discussing it in full blown view. Hmm..?

It's not just limited to you developers ;-) There is a customer beta testing too which I'm part of (and I'm not participating in revealing what's in the beta, THANK YOU!).

Good point, I didn't think about the Core Solos. That might have to do with it as well.

I'm sure it may have been addressed, but I'm trying to remedy the issue of the file saying it is corrupt at the end of the software update, are there any suggestions to fix this?? i've looked through the whole thread and haven't seen it. thanks for any help!

I personally don't like it. If you have multiple windows minimized to the dock, there's no way to tell how many you have down there. I find the way of maximizing one of the several windows you may have minimized cumbersome compared to the way Windows minimizes multiple windows to the task bar...

Well, duh, don't use it then. It's an option!

Apple's own Remote Desktop app is still not working on this new release.

Well, submit a bug report to Apple. You're a legitimate beta tester right?

ROFLMAO

So which is it: are you a cheapskate or are you breaking your non-disclosure agreement?

Everyone here who is discussing the beta directly is breaking the non-disclosure agreement.

As SL is for intel only, I'm a little surprised how many app's are still Universal and not just Intel... including iCal, Front Row Software Update...?

Why surprised? It's beta software. Not everything that could be done to it is done. Or you forget you're running beta software thinking this is a released version?

Well, how much is the paid membership? I have no problem with paying for software at all.... where can I get info?
http://developer.apple.com/products/membership.html
You need an ADC (Apple Developer Connection) Select ($499/yr) or ADC Premier ($3499/yr) membership to get access to the "Software Seeding Program".

Any one know how big the Mac discount is for the Select membership? When buying a MB Air.

trackpad

I wonder if it fixes the issue I was having with the trackpad becoming unresponsive at times.

That **** is killing me on my Macbook I keep having to reset the frigging trackpad by applying my whole palm to it until it starts to respond again!!! I was wondering if it was a hardware issue but it makes sense its related to snow leopard

Finder = FAIL Quicktime = FAIL still. even features that did exist have been removed.
i'm starting to really hate apple for not allowing options for how you want to tweak your user experience.

iCal / Exchange

Hi,

While we're at it:

Has anyone figured out how to open shared calendars in iCal when it's setup to use an Exchange server?
Not delegate, mind you, Shared calendar is the feature. At least that's how it's called in the Outlook client.

Is it a willful omission? Or a bug?

thnx

I'm fully aware it's beta, I was just surprised how may are still Universal. particularly "Software Update". The Software Update GUI in Snow Leopard is visually different to Leopard and therefore I assumed that it would have been Intel only (unless of course they intend updating the Software Update GUI in Leopard to the same as Snow leopard?)
