Do some of you people actually READ your emails from Apple with regards to an item being shipped?

I am referring to those, like myself awaiting the UTD disc via the G3 Worldwide courier.

Refer to your email from Apple ... in fact, I'll copy and paste from mine.

Dear WeegieMac, (name altered for obvious reasons).

We are pleased to advise you that your Apple Store order W******** has been dispatched by mail and will be delivered to your shipping address.

The expected postal time for your order is 3 business days. This is an estimated lead time only and may vary slightly. As your order is being delivered by post there is no tracking available.

Please allow 3-4 days to receive your Invoice. Please note, your Invoice will be sent to you by e-mail and is not included with your delivery.

Did you see the bit in bold people?

Let's repeat that ...

As your order is being delivered by post there is no tracking available.

There is a tracking number on the order, yes, but it's probably for Apple's own use and is NOT for use on any kind of tracking website, ie: TNT or UPS.

Add my name to the list of those that pre-ordered SL UTD and didn't receive anything but bills in the post this morning... :(

I wasn't so much expecting it on launch day as just plain hoping! I still can't see any reason why they couldn't have got it to me today, but the email they sent me saying something about 3-5 days delivery and "postal" (rather than "courier") didn't exactly fill me with confidence... And i was right to be pessimistic, sadly...

It's a shame, as i know it won't change my world, but it's the next step toward truly 64-bit which, as a geek, I'm quite excited about ;) Plus i was hoping to have it this weekend as it's the only time i'll get to install it for the next week considering i have to factor in sorting out alternatives to incompatible software and the fact I'm back to work tuesday.

Not entirely surprised by this, but disappointed :(

I wonder how people who ordered the full retail version faired? Was it just us UTD people who got fleeced?

First : Weather is terrible up north atm Lol, so I ain't walking around town for 4 hours ;) And Trafford centre is horribly expensive.
2 : I'm not a big-shopper. Hate shopping for clothes, all I can do is shop for technology, and as I just spent £1500 on my MBP, and £1000 on my holiday, I'm not spending any more money until.. well... Tuesday. xD
3 : The train is £12.95 GET IT RIGHT xD
4 : Knowing my luck, I'd spend all the time going down there and shopping n what not, and it would turn out there's either A: A ginormous queue in the AppleStore, or they're completely out of copies. Then again, I don't think many people are Mac fans up here, especially in manchester as you'd probably get stabbed if you are seen with one.

try shopping from a wheel chair then you will know what a pain it is that why I order on line

The one thing I have noticed it the amount of people who's UTD order ends in the letters "INT".

Mine ends in the letters "ZML", and some people even reported seeing their orders change from ZML to INT before shipping.

Anyone know the difference between these "versions"?

All of us in the UK... So long as you ordered before wednesday/tuesday, then it should come today, even if you took standard shipping.

IT IS COMING FROM WITHIN THE UK. IT IS COMING FROM LEICESTER.

It will NOT come WITH the normal mail, it has been sent as a standard parcel, so Postman Pat will come in his little red van and deliver it to you separately, it can get delivered anywhere up to 5pm.

You CANNOT purchase snow leopard from any store in the Dixons group, this includes comet, currys, PCWorld, the lot. They're NOT STOCKING IT.

The shipment type they have sent it with, means it CAN COME ON SATURDAY!

Any PC World store with an Apple Kiosk do stock it. My mate got his this morning from PC World next to Sky in Osterley

Why do you feel the need to explain yourself, I don't care if you're not a big shopper, I was making a point in order to broaden the perspective a bit here. If you read my post I said you *could* have caught the train for £7.95. GET IT RIGHT.

You're just babbling by point 4.

er, surely if he paid £7.95, that's for the UTD disc isn't it? That means he can't get it in store unless he drops another £25...

Don't know the answer to your question, but my UTD order ends in 'ZML'.

You lot should be happy that your copy is in the post!

I ordered mine a few weeks into July, docs were mailed in as the online system wasn't working. Still hasn't been shipped, the only tracking I have is "To be shipped imminently". You would have thought it would be first come first serve!!

£7.95 shipping is taking the pee, my company ships nothing like the quantity Apple does but it costs me just £3.90 per parcel (DHL), doesn't matter how big or heavy. Apple could quite easily ship these on a next day service tracked and insured for £2-3 if that.
I can imagine a lot of these SL discs vanishing in the post especially if they aren't tracked, but thats Apples problem.

Dont even get me started on RoyalMail

Typical UK management, couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery!

Point 4 is a fact, I don't want to travel 2 and a half hours to go to the trafford centre, and then find out they have no stock left, who would want to travel for 2 hours for nothing, and find out I've wasted the money on a train ticket, that's what I mean. The reason for my explanation is to answer your question. And I could have caught the train for £7.95 if.. I was 4.

You're right, we ordered what? Over a month ago, and yet we get it AFTER everyone else. Kinda sucks? Especially when they sold the iPhone as first come first serve.

I don't ship alot of parcels myself (maybe 5 a month) and I always use DHL, and it still only costs me £7.92 for pickup and next day delivery. Thats less than what Apple charged me for them to put it in a featherpost bag and put a 37p stamp on it. Are we paying for this blokes saliva or something? Has it got diamonds in it?

Can anyone remember the Leopard pre orders? I'm sure they were courier, and it was a really good one, whoever it was: I remember getting in at 7pm, with a missed delivery note on the mat, so I called up expecting an answering machine to reschedule for the next day, and they picked up, AND delivered it to me at 9pm! And I'm sure I didn't pay extra for that either...

my date has just changed from the 28th to the 1st. so much for paying the extra £10 for a 1-3 day delivery. the annoying thing is the distribution point is only 5 min from where i was getting the disk delivered to.

OUCH?? I bet they've snuck yours in with Royal mail too :l So you paid £10 for nothing! Claim your money back from Apple dude.

You taking life too seriously, you're still operating under the assumption that you need to have Snow Leopard NOW! Hence the reason why I said you were babbling. Patience man!

Anybody would thought you needed urgent medication or their was a food shortage in this country. It's on operating system!

I'm a geek. Deal with it. Lol :p

I just brought SL from apple as i doubt ill get my copy until next week.

Can someone tell me does the upgrade one come in the full retail packaging? Cellophane wrapped? barcode with price on it?

I want to be able to put the barcode from one to other and return it when it comes and install SL tonight.

Thanks.

I, too, ordered Snow Leopard via Up-To-Date. Before purchase, I was promised a "delivery" date of Aug 28th. However, after purchase, I received a confirmation email claiming it would only "Ship" on Aug 28th. I called up Apple to question this, and the representative I spoke to promised it would be delivered today.
After a while, my order's status changed to "shipped", with an estimated shipping date of "Sept 1". I, again, called Apple to question this delivery date, and was told that I would not receive my order until Sept 4.

I just purchased this iMac 3 days ago, and am very displeased with Apple's quality of service. I'm planning to return Snow Leopard if/when it ever arrives, and return my iMac ASAP.

Great job, Apple, show your new customers how great your customer service is!

Just because? I think you're doing yourself out of a wonderful machine for a cd that will arrive a few days late? You're not very forgiving are you?

Grow up.

Who knows what happened, but there wasn't this sort of problem with Leopard, so maybe it is just a problem with the Royal Mail?
