Anyone who goes to that sad excuse of a website knows that Paul is a world class douche. I don't think he was loved enough as a child...

I find Paul's site very informative and up to date. But then again I'm not an Apple Fanboy.

"Snow Leopard, like Leopard before it, is a fine OS, a rock-solid and capable computing foundation. It's just that when compared to what's happening on the Windows side, Snow Leopard is sort of a letdown. There's just not much going on from an end-user perspective." Paul Thurrott

I Totally agree.

Neither am I (see previous posts)......but his anti-Apple rants are extremely annoying and juvenile...

Makes no difference, really. Apple's performance and innovation for the past few years now speaks for itself. Let him and anyoen say what they like. it doesn't change the facts.

Hell, not even MS' best advertising efforts could really change anything!

By the way . . .

Mac OS users have made a conscious technology choice and are therefore typically better informed than their peers. - Paul Thurrott, December 06, 2004

Paul is in line with pretty much every other review. I understand where he's coming from with the excessive number of viewing options that OS X offers. Personally I like them because it offers me non-linear options that might be based on using the mouse or the keyboard. I'll just know how I want to view something based on what I'm doing.

It might be a bit much for other people.

I haven't used the Preview Pane enough in 7 to have an opinion about it to be honest. I adore Quick Look though. Aero Flip still follows the linear flow of Alt + Tab. Aero Peek for working with multiple documents has been a help too. It still bugs me that the Windows won't store their magic fit sizes when you minimize. At least on 7 RC.

One would hope! There's still plenty of hand holding or users that will consider themselves computer "illiterate". I've supported some users that thought using OS X would be so much easier than the Windows environment they were accustomed to.

Snow Leopard does do in fact all that Apple said it would do... been on it for almost a week, on my old 1st gen MacBook so it can't really take full advantage of the improvements. Aside from some programs not working just yet...its legit. =)

MS Laptop Hunters ads made Apple lower it's prices. Or do you want to deny that FACT too?

Fanboys don't use logic nor reason. They are just blind little drones, and when you look deep into their eyes, their pupils are shaped like a apple.

Even if the call never happened, apple did lower it's prices. Why? Maybe the MS ads are working after all?

Yes, I'm sure MS invested hundreds of millions in an ad campaign to help Apple sell MORE Macs.

In that case, yes, I love MS. May they continue with their incredibly successful Apple advertising campaign.

Ahhh macrumors, where one's childish side shows itself, for all to see. I honestly consider the fact that half of you are on ego trips, judging by the ridiculous things you bicker about.

Who could REALLY care a crap what some reviewer thinks about ANYTHING?. The best review, is the one you do, by ownership of items. Move on, and stop being so childish. Noone actually cares, bar you.

I love how he says how good the OS is, then throws in "jabs" about Windows being better or something that Mac is lacking. He does it on the sly, but I can read his words well.

You are just hopeless and helpless. No need to waste anymore of my time. Have a nice day. :)

One thing that really impresses me is how quickly Apple can pull these things off. To go from Gold Master to store shelves in about two or three weeks. Compare that to Windows 7 - the Gold Master was finished before SL, yet won't be released for another two months. I'm impressed.

Then Apple just lowered the prices on their laptops from their goodness of their hearts to save you more money.

Right, because the only two possible reasons why a company might lower the prices on any of it's products is either because another company made advertisements about their high prices or because the company is trying to do something nice for its customers. Uh huh. It's POSSIBLE that the ads were ONE of the reasons why they did it, but it's also possible that they had NOTHING to do with it. Only the people who were in on the making of this decision know what the reasons were. Thus, "fact," this word does not mean what you think it means.

They lowered their prices to sell more units in a slow economy. And they probably perceived they could have a potentially record quarter as a result, becuse they also refreshed their notebook line.

Why do you keep trolling? Do people on Neowin or engadget not like you?

Same here, 7 won't be out until October. I really don't know why there's such a big delay. Maybe making the SL discs took priority over Windows 7 discs :p

Please show me when apple has ever lowered the price of a product. Excluding new offerings. Maybe you should do some research before you post, so you can seem to know what your talking about.

I don't see a reason why it couldn't be released to the public short of shafting the OEMs somehow.

The RTM period before retail sale gives OEM manufacturers the time for them to build their own images for production. I don't think Microsoft wants to sour that relationship by offering the masses Windows 7 before the OEMs get their machines out.

Even then the relationship it has with its OEMs is changing.

Same here, I ordered at the beginning of the week and got an email today that it's been shipped Fedex Overnight... I was surprised they didn't just do 3 day and shipped it out earlier, would have saved money.

I think Apple is trying to control timing, they used to do what you suggested and items would get delivered days before, the day of and days after the release.
