Received this email early this am that order is on its way.
We are pleased to advise you that your Apple Store order ********* has been dispatched by mail and will be delivered to your shipping address.
The expected postal time for your order is 3 business days. This is an estimated lead time only and may vary slightly. As your order is being delivered by post there is no tracking available.

Mine shipped yesterday. Estimated delivery: 5-10 days though, but I'm sure it'll arrive tomorrow.
It is coming via postal delivery - does this mean it isn't an actual carrier, but just the normal mail service..? Reason I ask is because I was going to leave a note on my front door telling the postie just to shove it through the letterbox if I'm not there. If he can't, the Royal Mail depot is just down the road anyway.
If it is an actual carrier and I miss delivery, I'll have to wait 3 days for another attempt delivery which will suck.

Not sure if it's the same there as it is here, but if FedEx, UPS, etc come to my house and I'm not there, then they don't bother trying a 2nd time. I can always go to the nearest facility after a certain time on the same day and pick it up

Exact same as what mine says, I can't see it coming until next week. If it's shipping from the Netherlands by postal service it wont be tomorrow, UPS take 3-4 days from the Netherlands.
The postal company seems to be a joint venture between TNT and Royal Mail for what it's worth.
Ah good, it'll come by Royal Mail then. Advantage to that is the postman has a key to the building, where as UPS, ParcelForce etc don't.
I'll leave a note on my door to say shove it through the letterbox. Not bothered as long as the DVD don't get damaged!

Depends on whether it is a signed-for package in which case the postman has to take a signature. Again, I wonder if the packages are being shipped from a local hub in UK or being shipped from a european hub (netherlands ?) to all the european countries

I've got the same as you two. I'm hoping they don't mean Sept 2. Mine is currently in my city, so I think it will arrive tomorrow.

Hmm mine still hasn't been shipped. Netherlands here. I'm expecting it to arrive here on monday/tuesday now. Oh well, gives me some more time to check out which apps are compatible with Snow Leopard and which one's aren't.

Although mine has been like that since it updated to "shipped".
I just presumed that's where it was being shipped to rather than meaning it's arrived.
I don't think they have any way of tracking where it is as it's just via regular mail.
What are you talking about? How could you have ordered Snow Leopard in June when they just announced it this week? It wasn't available for pre-order until this past Monday.

It's not been shipped to your city. If Apple managed to get it to me shipping it this morning I'd be amazed
