As stated by the title no delivery yesterday.

UK Ordered Family Pack, so it's no just the UTD SL that isn't being delivered.

I'd love to know how many people actually got delivery of SL in the UK yesterday. I am still hopeful that it will arrive in Todays post but based on yesterdays debarcle i think even 2/9 is unlikely.

Still at least apple managed to send me the invoice this morning.

To me it's not about the fact they didn't deliver, it's the whole dishonesty thing. If they had just been honest in the first place when taking the orders and said that they are unlikely to meet the Friday launch date then I would have been happy, but setting an expectation and then not meeting it is just poor. Should have organised a better delivery mechanism that UK post.

Apple in the UK suck when it comes to managing the delivery and I have told them. I phoned apple to ask about it and went off on one with the guy on the phone. Have also mailed Customer Services and posted on Beeb's site.

Still won't make a difference as long as they get their money that really is all they care about.

Here's hoping that you all get SL today but the option is just to go out and buy it and then return the posted one. Not always that simple as the Apple store is about 50 minutes from here so probably will just suck it in and wait.

Wish Apple would just listen to their avid customers once in a while

Copied from another similar thread.

Let's calm down and really analyze why we didn't receive our discs, UTD or Retail:

1. $29 gives you the retail package. Apple mass produced 5+ mil copies of these (analyst on MF front page news estimated 5 mil).
2. UTD is different from retail package.

I'm guessing Apple focused on making the retail packages first. That's why non-UTD got theirs before we did. Just like the refurbished products. Apple always releases the retail versions and then the refurbished. What we see here is something similar.

But technically Apple DID deliver their promise. When UTD was available for pre-order, it estimated a September ship date. We all thought late September. What we got was August 28th, with UTDs arriving from a range of September 1 - 11 (some people who ordered late). So what are we whining about?

Apple promised September, they deliver early/mid September. For retail disc buyers who didn't receive their discs on August 28th, Apple and whatever shipping service they used can't guarantee 100% that everyone will get the discs on time. There will be some outlyers. But calm down, your computer still works and all right? Just be patient.

If it's any consolation to others living in the UK, SL upgrade arrived this morning at 10.15 by Royal Mail. Jiffy bag and 2nd class stamp, ordered on Monday.

I'd love to know how many people actually got delivery of SL in the UK yesterday.

I'm in the UK (Newcastle) and received my copy of Snow Leopard this morning. It's the retail version though, not an up to date disc or family pack. I'm busy updating my iMac with it now, should be finished soon! :D

I do not understand how there cannot be any tracking number. Even expresspost can be tracked.

However, more ridiculous is that I paid $13+tax to ship a FREE product, and it's getting sent by standard mail with NO tracking number? $13 to ship a DVD... and it is STANDARD mail? Uhhh... ok.

I agree 100%

And we don't even get the retail product and no retail box. Watch and see when we can't even do a clean install

How people who bought the UTD disc got screwed over:

1. Delayed shipping (Shipped by vs. Delivered on)
2. Not even the retail disc
3. No retail box
4. We paid for something that should have been free (look at Windows 7)
5. You need 10.5.x on the HD before you can install 10.6 (Pain in the ass)
6. The money that you did pay was for shipping and it was shipped the slowest method possible (In Canada at least)

still not received till today. :(

agreed.

i have read numerous people offer such insights as "you paid a cheaper price, be happy" or "go outside over the weekend" or "get a life" or "we all paid $x,000 for a computer at some point."

my issue is that -- for whatever reason (does it matter?) -- i prefer to do an OS installation on a weekend, when it will not interfere with other stuff i have going on (and i have time to restore an old OS if necessary).

regardless of price paid, apple staff repeatedly affirmed two things:
1) orders were processed in the order received;
2) UTD orders should arrive today.

what would have made me happy(-ier) is if we were simply told that customers who recently bought a mac and were eligible to participate in the UTD program could make a choice: pay $9.95 and get it sometime after launch, or pay $29 and get it on launch day.

had i not been told, repeatedly, that my copy would arrive at the same time, i would have made arrangements to get it another way.

if i had an apple store nearby, no big deal. however, the nearest one is 5h by car. the nearest best buy is >2h, too. couple that with the fact that we didn't learn the truth about these orders until mid-day friday, and it turns out to be a disappointment.

for the record, i have a rich life (as i imagine most folks here "complaining" do, too), and why is it wrong to (a) get excited about the launch of a new OS, or (b) guard our time and expect products to be delivered when customer service tells us they will, so we can plan an installation on our timeframe....AND get outside, spend time with families, work, do all the other stuff we like to do?

finally, to the guy who suggested it's appropriate for apple to ship in order of price paid..... would you feel any different if you ordered the low-end macbook, then waited extra days because apple was shipping macbook pros instead? if you ordered a pro, would you be ok with getting bumped for several days to those who ordered airs? would you all be ok getting bumped by a flurry of mac pro orders?

doesn't make sense, and it's generally not considered good business practice.

it's apparent that many commenting in such a way have limited life experience and are a little, perhaps, naive.

I'm confused. You appear to be using reason in you argumentation. Are you on the correct forums?

No, it's apparent that some people are lacking the very "life experience" you mention if they have nothing better to do than sit and stare at a shipping status and complain about slow shipping, etc.

If you're going to retort claims made that people need to "get a life", try doing it without resorting to the same "stereotypical" response you claim has greeted you and others, and with that I refer to the "naive" and "life experience" comment.

We're not naive, we simply don't revolve around our computers to the extent that not receiving an update disc makes such a huge impact on our lives or our plans.

Limited life experience? By doing what, living life ... or by spending a weekend doing a computer update because it's what you prefer?

Seriously, go back and read your comment again, because it's borderline ridiculous. Oh yes, we do indeed have "limited life experience" because we tell people, who want to spend their weekends updating a computer OS, that they should do something more constructive with their time than fester over whether or not a disc arrived in the mail.

It's "life experience" that's made me appreciate the free time I have with friends, family, etc ... and not want to waste my free time festering over an OS update or how Apple shipping my disc by second class mail, while Americans got Priority mail. Your Mac OS X Snow Leopard disc will arrive eventually, but that person you love the most could be gone in the blink of an eye ... THAT'S life experience, trust me.

My God ... some people.

For those people in the UK whinging at Apple you seem to forget that it's not just one company involved in shipping your SL install disc.

Mine arrived this morning with the rest of the post (which Royal Mail deliver!), sure I could have had it yesterday if I'd have gone to the Apple store in Cambridge, but that would cost so much more in petrol/time/etc..

The label on the jiffy bag that arrived this morning also points a finger at "Syncreon Technology" as the logistics provider in the UK, so being slightly late isn't totally Apple's fault.

Still haven't received mine.

Not sure if it is because of the postal strike (I don't really get much mail) or whether it just hasn't come yet.

This is a computer enthusiast forum so any arguments like "Get a life Geek" are probably not going to go over well :D

So don't bother getting defensive. It's obvious we all have rich lives, apart from computers (that's if an ipod is not a computer)

Mine finally shipped last night and should be here on the 2nd. It did ship USPS so I am hoping I might get lucky and have it on Monday, but since there is no tracking number I will just have to be surprised.

Snowy is here

Well not a lot of consolation to some of you others but mine arrived in the post this morning.:D:D:D

UK Retail Version Ordered Wednesday.
:apple:

hi, does anyone know if Purolator ships on Sundays... still haven't got it yet....:(

Utd

My UTD order is weird.
I had to send my initial order in via Fax as I bought my iMac from Amazon and Apple wouldnt let me order it through the normal channels.

I have to go to a status update link to see what my order is doing and it hasnt changed at all.

Order Number
065-00003421 MAC OSX 10.6UTD MC204Z/A 1

Order Status
Backordered

Order Date
8/18/2009

Ship Date

Shipping Method

As you can see, ship date and method are blank, its as if I have been forgotten about :( Plus I dont like the bit where it says backordered :(
