hold apple to a higher standard... blah blah blah

Hold Apple to higher standard?

Go look at the Nokia n95 spec, they have all of the above and have done for over a year. Somehow I don't think anyone is holding apple to a higher standard.

What happened to the supposed video conferencing? No camera on the front? Curse you, Apple rumor community!

Anyone check the tech specs? Notice they ditched the dock too?

The thing I'm most happy about is selling my broken 8GB iphone for $250 and being able to pick up a brand new one for $200.

Heck I might get a little crazy and buy a 16GB for $50 more. GPS and 3G are just icing on the cake

You guys are missing the big picture here...The 3G was set in motion this time last year from apple....Video conferencing and such will be on the next great Iphone next year...Why not have you upgrade your phone every year??? This is the big picture More money for them

That's not the big picture I'm interested in.

Well with the cheap ass price they have I don't doubt they won't make their mark. In fact they are cheap enough to buy and use til it's scratched up and then but something new.

i have to get one... I'm not going to be "that guy" that says "oh yeah, I have the old grandpa iphone b/c I'm waiting for more" people will think your nuts (or sandy)! keep up with it, there will be more upgraded ones next time. there is always next time.

Very disappointed.

No 32G.
No Video Calling.
No Flash.
On sale in more than 30 days.

Really, this phone could have been more revolutionary than
evolutionary.

Still, I'll buy it and hope for a better phone a year from now.

Yea I have to say the more I think about it not worth the upgrade....the updates you can use on your current phone....

3G 20 seconds faster...thats nothing....

GPS cool but who is going to use this all the time....Still cool but not sure worth the upgrade...

Design really the same----

Would have loved to see bluetooth headphones

No really, how are you guys not disappointed? Do you love Apple so much that you would allow them to continue to lag behind in such basic features such as video recording and voice-dialing? 3G and GPS were something that a $499 first generation iphone supposed to have. We all gave Apple a break on that because it was their "first product in the market" and the fact that they pioneered touch screen and forced the industry to focus on interface. Now that competitors are catching up in those areas and the most Apple can offer on its second generation iphone is something that should've been on the first generation one?

People aren't disappointed for the lack of innovative features. They are disappointed with Apple not providing them with something as basic as video recording, voice-dialing, copy and paste, etc.

I am very disappointed about the release date. July ?! WTF ! How can you expect to sell 10m iPhones without selling any for 2 months. Now I have to go another month without a phone and I actually hope Apple does not sell 10m iPhones due to this!

Well, they've sold 6 million already, so I think that with the new price point, they're pretty confident in their ability to make the goal.

What are the people that sold there old iPhone going to do now for a month? Use a pay as you go phone?

take my $375 cash I got for my 8GB iPhone and get a 16GB GPS one when it's out. The extra $75 will more than pay for the monthly data plan ($20) and texts for another month. Plus i'm using my old ROKR(yeah, that's right, iPhone 0.0 baby), and I got Opera mini on that which seems to do the trick in a pinch, google mobile directions got me to my vacation destination just fine this weekend on the ROKR. I'm so happy I sold mine, in fact.

I'm just pissed cause this means I have to stay with sprint for 30 more days.

One good thing is that a lot of people sold their used 8GB for $400.00 plus, now they can have two new iPhones. Even if they have plastic backs.

Yea 200 is not bad in all consideration that is one good thing....My wife is a computer analyst for large company and she is traveling in Cali at the moment...I told her about GPS and new 3G being slightly faster....She stated I just used my Iphone to find my hotel and worked just fine....why would I need GPS...

However even though Im dissappointed I will most likely buy one in July...Why you ask....I can afford it and going to give my old Iphone to my 10 year old

All of this supposedly.

just one question....

DOES IT HAVE MOBILEME:confused::confused:

It`s OS and the user experience which has made iPhone so much popular. And from that point of view iPhone 2.0 firmware will blow away any sort of competition. Nothing currently on the market can make me switch from iPhone.

sorry what's flash?

REALLY??> flash are those little movies you see on websites. Like the banner ads and stuff? it is KINDA nessesary for views some or many webpages and there is some type of flash associated with 85% of websites out there, and some websites are ENTIRELY flash, which means you can not view them.

It SHOULD be a standard for any phone that surfs the internet

Your kidding right? You might want to go check Craigslist. They are already showing up at less than $200 for new ones in my area.

Flash - Isn't flash a software thing? If so, why are people upset?

MMS - Jailbroken phones could do it. It's software. Why are people upset?

Video cam - Again, it's been done. I could do it in my old phone. Software.

No front cam - OK, that would've been cool.

Me? I'm happy. And know that things can/will come to the phone that weren't talked about today.

No stereo bluetooth? No better resolution? Big deal about 3G and GPS. How many regular people use GPS? What good is GPS when no one will be going anywhere because of the gas prices. I have Sprint and can't wait for the Touch Diamond. Already on a fast data network with my Sprint Touch. Once the Opera 9.5 browser comes out I'm set.

I have:

Stereo Bluetooth
Slingplayer
Shoutcast Radio Stations
Opera Internet
Fast Internet

that's what I want in a phone so I already have it.

I'm not that disappointed. There were pros and cons, but the over-riding sentiment I'm left with is that this thing is late. Some of the apps that were hihglhgted in the keynote were just developed, some of the others we had already seen. So this could be taken 2 ways:

First interperation - the iPhone is everything Steve hoped it would be and it's selling like hot cakes.

Alternate interpertation - things aren't going as smoothly as they hoped, so they had to lower the price, demo applications we have already seen and throw a few together last minute to have something 'new' to show.

I'm going for the latter. I'm guessing developing the 3G took more time and development than initially thought. Seems they spent a lot of time securing new countries and carriers but then lowered the price.

I'm pumped about the 3G, GPS and App Store. Mobile Me way exceeded my expectations. I plan to get a 3G iPhone (actually 2) as soon as they are available.

There are features I would like to have (MMS, Cut & Paste, Front Camera, Better Camera etc) , but they won't prohibit me from buying one.

Not very.

Things like

MMS
Video Recording
Zooming while taking picture
Flash

Are all software stuff, which means we can see Apple update iPhone OS to support them, or 3rd party app can fill the gaps. Sure I'd like them, but its not a deal breaker for me.

I could have used a better camera, but GPS, 3G, and much lower price point are great upgrades.
