Hmm... I'm not too impressed. I'm sticking with my current 16GB iPhone for another year. (I was considering buying a 32 gig version of the 3G later this year but I don't' think I'll be doing that now, especially since 32 gig models haven't been introduced officially, though I think it'll come in a couple of months, like they did with the touch)
Maybe the third generation iPhone will be more spectacular.

Since my phone already does everything I want it to do I was chiefly looking for it to be better looking and as far as I'm concerned the new version isn't anything to write home about. And aieee plastic back. That's what I like about the first generation phone... it's got a metal back. And the reception does me, I've had high end plastic back phones with worse reception.

I'll buy one when they start looking more like those fake leaked red / black pics with the Indian guy doing a video call. =D

I'm happy with the price, and the only thing I was genuinely disappointed in was the fact that we ridiculously have to wait a whole other month for it to be released.

I wonder when they'll start taking pre-orders.

I wasn't expecting nearly as much as others, so I'm not terribly disappointed. In fact I'm kind of glad that I don't feel totally compelled to get a new one. Maybe I'll save some $. Though, of course, there's a chance a might change my mind :). But, like I said, I wasn't expecting major changes, and we didn't get major changes. The biggest change is going to be the software update, which I had kind of been expecting, and with that I'm only upset that its being delayed until July. Overall, I like the look of the first gen much better. Glad I still have mine.

At this point, Apple can suck it.

This was a monumental disappointment. They knew that the entire world was waiting with bated breath for this to happen, and nothing happened. We just have to wait another month.

1) They'll be going almost two months without ANY iPhone sales.
2) Their stock is rapidly dropping. Already, it's down 7 dollars.

They're losing money like a sieve. This is ridiculous. I'm contemplating not even buying any version of the iPhone.

It's obvious that Apple survives only on the support of it's hardcore fanbase who swallow up everything that comes out of Jobs' mouth. Given their stock prices now, it looks like quite a few are jumping ship.

Serves them right. I hope Apple's stock tanks after this.

Because they didn't add everything you wanted you start acting like baby? WOW. I'm ashamed that you are part of the Apple fanbase.

Steve doesn't care because when July 11th hits the stock will soar and he'll be worth more.

I'm sure Apple has a development road map planned that will slowly include wanted features on future versions. Why put everything all in one devise.

As for the wait it's only a month! Having a life does pass the time..

Not very.

Things like

MMS
Video Recording
Zooming while taking picture
Flash

Are all software stuff, which means we can see Apple update iPhone OS to support them, or 3rd party app can fill the gaps. Sure I'd like them, but its not a deal breaker for me.

I could have used a better camera, but GPS, 3G, and much lower price point are great upgrades.

lol Are you serious? Flash is a software update? Have you ever even seen a real camera before?

Disappointed...deflated. I will still buy one, and I guess at the end of the day all I really wanted was 3G. BUT, I definitely would have taken 32gb over the addition of GPS and a camera update would have been great also.

im not dissapointed by the iphone, seeing as i wasnt going to get one anytime soon anyway, tho i do question the PLASTIC back. mainly i question that jobs stated it was one of the things ppl "were asking for".

 WE all loved the aluminum, and now its cheapish plastic?

the thing im mostly dissapointed for is the absence of steves "one last thing"

then again i did sense something when he said "ill be seeing you this week" to the crowd, so mayb sumthings up, but i doubt it.

Either way the real thing im waiting for is the revision of the macbooks to aluminum and new internals. Looks like Macworld 09 is calling, and i can wait, begrudgingly of course.

I still love apple and all that they do tho:apple:

Yes we are talking about Flash for the internet not for a camera...Camera on a cell phone is really a joke....But works as stated in a pinch...Way too much blur going on without fast enough shutter speed....

MMS needs to be updated but the bulk delete great...searching contacts seems great but havnt notice it being a problem much...

mobileme is cool but my Imac account just went out and I hate having to pay 99 for email...Yes you can do more like pictures and stuff but dont use it...Started a yahoo account for free...

The talk of the 2.0 exchange push is a +++++++++++++

Disappointed?! Relieved more like!

I caved in and bought my 8GB about a month ago and absolutely LOVE it! I've unlocked it to use my 4 various PAYG SIMs around the world, so Edge is no benefit to me, let alone 3G!

Really looking forward to the new software, but will def. be sticking with my 1st gen for now! Sorry, but I'm just not impressed with the plastic back, whatever the benefits - have had no reception issues with the alu back and think it looks awesome!

Bit disappointed that Apple has gone "cheap"!!

Also, it looks like only O2 and CPW will be selling it, so no chance of buying one without signing your life away!!?

Solid hardware update, but that is it (regarding the iPhone, only). Until we get video chat and solar powered iPhones, I'll stick with me v1.

Nope

I think this is very promising. I would rather :apple: get it right and wait a few weeks than rushing it our there and not work.

The 3g phone looks like a solid piece of hardware. Still some things that :apple: can improve on. Although I don't use it, the camera could be better.

Would like to see some kind of full wireless/ back to my mac from the iphone. That would be cool to be able to browse my nard disk from the phone. Don;t know how secure it would be, but I like the idea. Would also be good to be able to add/change music and movies etc over wifi. That would be very nice. Wherever you were you had the lot. of course, that would make the whole 32 gig thing a but redundant. Anyway...

because apples competitors really do a great job of making their users extrememly happy, i mean, look at the zune everone loves that.

also, does anyone know why we all expect so much from apple? if its not one thing we bitch about its another. Oh for _____ the specs are there but it doesnt look exactly like i would want it.

we get dissapointed because we put apple up on a pedestal.

+1 (really +32)

I'm mildly disappointed at the lack of a 32GB option or a front-facing video camera, but I'm still really looking forward to buying one. I'm mostly disappointed that I've got to wait, yet again. At least now I know what, how much and when. I've been using a freebie nokia 6555 and can't wait to ditch it.

As for the disappointment with features that weren't delivered, (as others have noted,) these are ideas that get thrown around the echo chamber of the rumor community. They unnecessarily raise expectations. This isn't the fault of the rumor community or Apple fans in general. Face it - these sights fill a deliberate vacuum left by Apple to create hype. So to all those who don't understand others' disappointment, take it easy a little. Apple asks people to speculate. They ask people to anticipate. They make it very difficult for people (let alone business users) to plan.

Has it been said that the pricing on the plans are going to go up for having
3G or using the GPS???? IF SO NO WAY im upgrading even if I have the money

Look at it this way. I doubt they'll surprise everyone and drop the price of the 3G in a few months like the original.

And we can look forward to a 32g in 6 months. (jj)

just so people dont go whining about this if it does happen, thats entirely AT&T's side, not apples, tho i would expect the price to jump at least a little seeing as theyre taking the hit for the new low price (AT&T i mean)

maaaan so many whiners!

I'm not disappointed at all.

2mp camera? no camera, dont care. If im taking pictures I'll use a proper camera.
No MMS, dont care dont use it.
No front facing camera, yeah used that maybe twice on the last 3G phone I had, dont care.

All and all I'm quite pleased.

I agree with much of what you said, but not this particular point. Apple's stock price, as it stands right now, already accounts for investors' impressions of July 11. Investors are already building into the Apple price the new sales of July 11. So, when those new sales hit, there won't be a jump in the stock price.
