Which 15"? I have the 15" 2.4 Unibody (Late 2008) and I could never agree that the new 13" "blows it out of the water." For starters, the 15" has a better LCD panel than any of the 13" Macs. At least mine does anyway.

Actually, the new McBooks have 60% better colour gamma or something.

Dead pixel issue sorted!

Thanking you Apple!

Just got my replacement MBP 13 and its perfect, I'm a happy camper again!

And...........This screen is even better, how can this be? The text rendering is clearer, the brightness is improved and the scroll rippling seems far less pronounced! Its exactly the same 2.53 MBP 13 as I just took back????????

I'm loving it.
:D

Sold my 12" Powerbook for the initial macbook unibodies, but after hearing about the bloody screens, I didn't jump for them.

So I was left without a Mac for a year. :(

But I just purchased my 13" Macbook Pro two days ago and I absolutely love it and it was well worth the wait.

I think if they had a 12" model I would have jumped for that instead of a 13"

Totally love it; had a blackbook, then switched to a 15"mbp, but really missed the 13"; as soon as they announced the new 13MBP, I was so excited; sold the 15 and am totally loving the new 13!

Battery Life

What kind of battery life are you guys getting on your new 13" MBP? I've done a calibration already and still only register about 4.5 to 5.5hrs on a full charge with half screen brightness. Curious to see what other people are getting

Definately agree

I'm loving it.

I bought a unibody macbook the day they were released and for the first month just couldn't stand the screen difference from my older macbook pro. I ended up getting a new unibody macbook pro and the screen was much improved. Now with the new 13" MBP I just picked up I have the best of both worlds. I'd say all the complaints are paying off people, apple definitely listens to us

4.5 - 5.5 hours is very good in terms of usage at half brightness. Notebook manufacturers (Apple inlcuded) are guilty of giving deceiving battery life numbers. Read this article discussing laptop battery claims.

With that said, I think you could probably squeeze out ~30 minutes or more by simply lowering the brightness.

Yeah thats what I kinda figured, I just like how nice and vibrant the new screen is so it's a shame to dim it so much. Thanks

I'm really liking it. I finally upgraded from my 14 inch iBook, which I bought at the beginning of 2006. My MBP is smaller, more powerful, and has a higher quality screen.

When I initially bought my iBook, my reasoning was to edit videos (which went very smooth). When I transferred to university, I didn't have as much time for that as much. Now that I'm completing my studies, I will give that a go again. I am really looking forward to trying this sucker out! :)

Now, all I need is a Mini DisplayPort to VGA cable and I'm all set!

Hi all,

Yes I agree on the battery life situation, from full charge i was down to 75% after 50 mins of web browsing and a spot of iphoto importing.
Still loving the MB, the heat issues seem fine too.

Two words - Love it!

Its my second MacBook, sold my 4 week old white MacBook to a friend as his first Mac and created a new fanboy :)

Very solid machine and a great screen.

This is my first macbook and i freaking LOVE IT! never going back to windows again.:p

I have a very special relationship with my new 13" uMBP...

Me: I friggin' love you!
uMBP: I friggin' love you back!
Me: Oh, look...the most lovely application.
uMBP: RAM me in it!

Liking it a lot, but....

I may be doing something wrong, as I've posted two threads about this and no responses yet, nor does it show up when I search for my name.
I bought the MB $1599. version) May 1 and exchanged it Monday for the new MBP. Apple Store folks transferred things over. Got home and realized I have a problem. Get a message saying "the file iTunes Library cannot be read because it was created by a newer version if iTunes." I have an iPod Touch, which I have not synced to the MBP because I'm afraid it will wipe out my iPod music.
I have Apple Care, but know they are swamped. But, have any of you had the same issue and have you resolved it? I will wait a few days to call Apple Care so those who can't use their phones can be served first.
My favorite thing on the new computer is the SD slot. I could not believe Mac's never had one.

I do have one stuck pixel. That I guess that could be ONE downside. Besides that the computer again is flawless. But, I'm not returning it unless it gets on my nerves.

Can you return it for only one dead pixel? because I've heard that Dell, for instance, only accepts return for at least 6 dead pixels.

I have had my 2.53 for a week now and absolutely love it!!
Have not seen the CPU or RAM anywhere near its full potential yet. Have received my 7200.4 500gb drive but waiting for an enclosure to arrive now before I install it.

Only gripe?
Stupid Bootcamp and Virtual Box! I think it's the dodgy 5 year old Windows XP disk that is creating the issues though... And I probably should just VM Ware too.

Have you run software update? I know my MBP had an update for iTunes to 8.2.0

Yeah the trackpad is a bit noisy. The keyboard in general is noisier and squishier than the silver ones in the previous generation.

It's Fan-F**kingTastic!

I have had mine for 2 days, I bought the 2.26 version, of course I ordered ram and hard drive, but in the mean time, it's smoking fast, only complaint is the new display makes my cinema displays on my mac pro and Power Mac g5 pale in comparison.

Ordered the new 13" the moment I saw it announced. Seemed like a steal for my first-ever Apple. And I absolutely adore it. Having used Dells, Vaios and Thinkpads/Lenovos for years, this is my first experience with Apple. I'm completely astonished. It's the best machine I've ever used.

The screen comes on within two seconds of opening the lid. Wifi a second later. I can begin work in three seconds. Amazing.

It's practically silent.

Spotlight is beautiful and works perfectly. Everything...just works, and it seems responsive the whole time.

The big trackpad, once you customise it to your own needs, is a wonder. Two fingers to scroll - lovely. Three fingers to go forward/back in Safari - brilliant.

It's light, solid, elegant - and the battery life (the sole reason I bought it in the first place) astonishingly good. I've got 6 hrs of wifi out of it, with the screen on very low.

I'm now one of those pathetic Apple fanboys!

Love the glass trackpad! The battery life is amazing. But the isight is not working right now so I have to contact applecare.

i wanna upgrade the ram.. where is the best place and price... wanna make my macbook even better :D
