Sup fellow whitey waiters. Any e-mailed steve-o lately about our Moby Dick lately, out of curiosity?

Sure it'd be a stock answer of course.

Heck I'm still waiting for the white iPhone4.

Although at this point, I'm contemplating maybe just waiting for next summer... for the next refresh of the iPhone series. Currently still using iPhone 3G and it suits me fine as long as I don't really play games on it. Most apps work fine just gaming performance leaves a bit to be desired....

I've seen this line of thinking multiple times and I still don't get it. The thing's only been on the market less than 4 months...is it all of a sudden "out of date"?

Must you have the thing at least 8 months "fresh" to make it worthwhile? Can someone please explain this to me?

It's just people being OCD about being on the cutting edge. They want to get their contract as close as possible to launch date. So that they can get next iPhone right when it comes out w/ early upgrade.

An iPhone comes out every year. Apparently when you miss a revision. Your "behind" I still own an iPhone 2g. I'm in no rush to upgrade.

I'm glad I didn't wait. I was still using my original iPhone I got on release night and wanted to finally upgrade to a white one. The 3GS really had the features I wanted and I wasn't sure the 4 would come in white. I also figured once the 4 was released, the white 3GS would go away. So I pulled the trigger on the white 3GS a couple of weeks before the 4 came out. Looks like I was right on both counts.

If we don't hear anything on October 18th, I'll be quite amazed. I have my iPhone 4 in black right now. I have an upgrade on my other line which has a Blackberry 9700, which I am totally content with keeping. So my work phone will be getting the white iPhone 4 upgrade whenever, and my black one will be sold and I'll be making some money.

But yeah, I highly doubt they won't say anything at the conference call. It will already be getting towards late October and iOS 4.2 will be coming out within a few weeks. I'm almost positive Apple is holding the white iPhone 4 as the iOS 4.2 "launch product", so to speak. So it will probably ship with iOS 4.2 installed. Not much longer, just keep holding on, it's really nothing to get upset over.

I didnt wanna wait :) lol

iPhone4 is not out of date... However I don't need something at least 8 months fresh to make it worthwhile for me. Just didn't feel I absolutely needed it... thus I never did get 3GS model and still waiting for the white model.

Technology is just like that, there is always new things coming around the corner... it's just a matter of when will you settle for whatever version is out and be content with it. For me, when it was announced, I knew I wanted the white model which was supposed to be out when the black came out... but we saw how that went.

So now I'm just waiting for the white model and actually have two friends who are waiting too, although they've never had an iphone before and they think the white one looks prettier (they're both girls).

Personally, I do find that the iPhone4 is quite nice, wife has it and it's night and day difference when I use her's versus my 3G. The psuedo multitasking is one of the main features I like about it, being able to suspend and switch apps. Was tempted to just get the black version but I've waited this long, can keep waiting.

This may not quite answer your question but my current 3G is quite usable, just noticeably slower so I'm just playing the waiting game and hoping the white model comes out soon. However, if Apple decides to postpone the release until next year... then that would suck really bad and I may really just wait for the next revision.

BigWalt:
Is there any light leakage issues with yours? And also, was the LED diffuser included or it's missing on the rear camera?

I have a white 3GS that works fine and I'm thinking the same thing.

I'm one of those who have been waiting since June to get their hands on this... Hello Apple, we're dying here :(
I find it amazing that nothing has leaked regarding its release date.
Isn't there a single well-informed anonymous source out there who's heard something ? I guess we have to count on that considering Apple has been completely silent since July 23rd.
I can't remember the last time they held off a product so long, it's just baffling.

im suprised too. However could this be a sign that no news = no product?

i caved and bought the black instead, i dont regret it, however i still wish they released the white back in June.

I will just wait for next June for the white for my upgrade.

I am seriously thinking of waiting for next years re-fresh now. My 3g is acting kind of buggy, but it still does what I want.

With competition from Android and maybe WM7, I hope Apple will do more than "tweak" the phone next year.

It is pretty amazing that there has been complete silence about this thing in the rumor world. Hopefully the Oct. 18th conference call will shed some light, although they have had another full fledged event since the delay and made no mention of it. It is nearly impossible to prevent info from leaking out these days, yet the white iPhone remains a complete mystery. Odd.

If it weren't for the few pictures of it on Apple's site, you'd almost think that they canned it.

There's no proof they haven't canned it, either. They could simply be saving face by not removing the photos.

October 20th Media Event

Although this just announced event will be focusing on all things Mac, I am hoping they will say something about it.
But then again they didn't at the last iPod event...

I have no issues at all, LED diffuser was included.

So how's that warranty workin' out for ya?
Warranty is the least of my worries to be honest with you(I have plenty of phones laying around), I've been having my phones modded since like 2000 lol... If anything I have my OG parts and I have insurance.

He probably doesn't need one if he can afford a conversion.

Conversion isnt tooooo expensive but it sure is one of those things that not everyone would be willing to spend on, Im a tech-whore so yea lol.

why fret over this? as soon as Apple does release the white iPhone I will simply go to an apple store and order the white rear glass and have a genius install it...and no it won't void the warranty, I have spoken to my favorite Apple genius and this is what he say most Apple employees will do

because it wont have the white front, for that you'll have to change the whole front display(well to do it right at least)
