It seems that there was something about the original file that caused a problem with IW but now I have full use of the browser plus the tweaks and I can post on MR from IW. That's a result in my book. :)

Don't forget the hardened privacy and security additions. ;)

Sorry for the bump; but I've got a little problem with IceweaselPPC and uBlock origin, every time I try to open the settings in uBlock, IceWeasel crashes all the time.

Below I've attached the bug report:

I'm not sure if it's related, but iceweasel needs to be in the /Applications directory. If that doesn't fix it, make sure you have ublock-origin-legacy. I can't check which version at the moment as I'm at work.

Cheers

Hmm. I wonder if the wrong ublock corrupted your profile. I know it works as I use ublock legacy personally.

Rename ~/Library/Application Support/IceWeaselPPC (or whatever it's profile dir is, can't look right now) and start with a fresh profile. See if that helps.

Cheers

Will do, I'll let you know if this worked.

I just tried and it did the same thing, it crashed directly to the desktop even with a new profile

Strange. I'll have to look when I get home, but i know I'm a version or 2 behind current ublock legacy. I use that and umatrix. Otherwise I can't think of any other reasons why it crashes on you.

Cheers

Alright, I'll try this now

Okay so I just tried this, and it seems to be working so far, I have no idea why or what caused it to crash.

I spoke too soon, as I tried to go on a website, it crashed again.

Last resort. Delete the contents of your iceweasel profile directory and copy In your TFF profile contents.

I began looking for Arctic Fox for PPC, and here it is. Could you share a portfile? And what do you think of bringing this into Macports?
(I have a portfile for building TFF, but not yet for AF.)

It's really not that easy. This was just a one-off side project of mine a few years ago. It wasn't part of the official project or source. While i got close, the browser was still partially broken (bookmarks broken, downloads window broken, having to manually add extensions / themes, packaging was broken, and a few other quirks). I ended up manually adding in some of the old TFF38 patches and some other hacks to get what i got posted here. Sadly the HDD in that G5 bit the dust taking everything on it to the grave. I never bothered attempting it again after that as it took months to get that far, and it's code base wasn't any newer than TFF's. So rendering the modern web wasn't going to happen with it, and i saw no need to pursue it again.

Having said all that, Riccardo does have mainline AF building on 10.5 intel now, but it crashes when drawing the UI elements. All i can say is keep an eye on it, and maybe it'll build out of the box on PPC OS X in another year or 2.

Cheers

Since i decided to save money and not go out tonight i spent the day doing this instead....
AF-10.5ppc.png

Previous bugs are fixed. Now bookmarks, history, downloads window etc work. Only small bug i've noticed is that site icons and search engine icons appear blank. Give it a whirl if you feel froggy. I feel i'm close to having a 100% working port. I'll keep picking at it here and there.

Happy New year.

Awesome!

If building is reproducible, let’s make a portfile and bring into Macports. (I can write the portfile if there is a description of how to compile and patches needed for PPC. And test it on 10.5 and 10.6.)

P. S. By chance, ppc64 won’t build, right?

Oof...won't open for me in Tiger, Console says:

Haven't tried a 64bit build on Tiger or Leopard. Once i get everything ironed out it may be possible to do a portfile. Right now the source is just locally edited and built. Still need some time yet.

Could you try on 10A190, if possible? (I can test that, but only by the end of month, away from PPC machines atm.)

P. S. Many thanks for this awesome work!

Crap. Thanks for the report. Does anyone know how to use otool to relink? I even modified tenfourfox's script in hopes that'd work. I really don't know why it isn't working for users without the tff toolkit installed.

Cheers

Edit: it appears the last upload on the garden does indeed now work.

What an awesome New Year's present, thank you! Writing this reply from AF on 10.5.8 PB G4 1.67, this is great. No issues at all thus far, thanks again!
