Whew. Ok. Was about to pull my hair out. Lol.

Its still a work in progress, so I'm open to bug reports here (not github) on the browser itself, not website issues.

Cheers

Well yeah, i get that. Problem comes when doing a bunch at once. Seems shared relinks get overwritten by the next file that relies on it. At any rate, i fixed the script and all seems well now.

Nice work once again! The only "bug" that I have to report is that I'm getting untrusted connection issues, even after removing the old Arctic Fox profile and installing the certificate from the MG link. Other than that, everything else is in order.

I'm running this on Tiger 10.4.11, by the by...

Fairly similar, but smaller and a little lighter on resources. Might be a better solution for lower spec machines.
Good to know! I'll try it on some of my less powerful Macs. I downloaded InterWebPPC RL 3 for my G5 today. I am using it now. It works great.

I just tried to access a website to order college transcripts but the page won't load. I know this has been posted before, but how can I change the browser to make the site load the mobile version?

Thanks in advance!

Check this post. This will only work if the site does actually have a mobile site as well.

Do you also recommend the usage of TenFourFoxPEP and NoScript with this one?
Can't speak for the PEP script. Should work, but could have adverse effects. I guess test it out and see what the results are. I always recommend no script (and a hosts file rather than ublock/adblock+/etc). Finding an older version will probably work. I tried the latest legacy version and it installed, but the options dialog never displayed. I went back the pre FF45? version and it worked. Can't remember if I had to edit the install.rdf in the .xpi or not though as AF uses PM's browser ID rather than Firefox's.

I had completely forgotten about that! Couldn't remember it's name. Thanks. My script works now for these various browser builds, but that'll come in handy for future projects. I've used it for other things in the past.

I installed the 5.1.9 NoScript .xpi which works with InterWebPPC but it didn't work. Not one to give up that quickly, I tried every version which I thought would be chronologically appropriate (2016 and 2.9x) but they didn't work either. What was the exact one that you used?

Also, I tried to add the .der file which provides updated certificates but when it opened in Keychain Access I received the following error message:

An error has occurred. Unable to import an item.

CL_UNKNOWN_FORMAT

Where I am going wrong here?

I'll have to boot that machine again to look for noscript. As for the certs, it should have popped up a browser window asking to import it and trust it. If it didn't you can manually install it. Save the cert to desktop, then in AF...
Preferences -> Advanced -> Certificates -> View Certificates
Servers -> Import and select your downloaded cert.
Close the browser and restart. It should help a little until i get around to updating the built in certs for AF.
There are many other certs you can download and import to the browser if you want as well. A quick web search should yield a few more results.

In the meantime, i've attached YesScript. Similar, but less control. You can whitelist or blacklist sites with it. It just toggles JS on or off per site.

Thanks so much! @wicknix :)

I've installed YesScript, uBlock Origin and following your instructions, I was eventually able to import the certificate (it took several attempts before the file could be selected) but the NoScript site requires that I add an exemption before I can access it.

This isn't the end of world - I'll use InterWebPPC in the meantime whilst the certificate issue is resolved. Two working browsers for PPC macOS: 2023 is shaping up to be a great year. :D

It's something personal and subjective.

I personally like almost all @z970 projects and this one isn't an exception, but like discussed other times can "lead to problems", but in my opinion the benefits can outperform the issues.

But it's always good to know how to properly have backups and reverse the processes in case of isolating an specific problem that you might have when testing anything that isn't the "vanilla/stock" scenario.

Otherwise, let us know of your findings.

So i decided to pull a bunch of certs from InterWebPPC and put them in an archive. You can download it and manually install them. This will update most of AF's certs and allow a pretty painless browsing experience. After installing them i didn't have to add an exception for noscript.net, it just loaded. :)

Sorry for the work-a-rounds, but i'm having a hard time updating NSS and the certs in the source code at the moment.

Created an account after years of lurking just to say thank you. I'm writing this on a imac g3 500mhz 384mb ram 10.4.11 and it's definitely the best browsing experience I ever had on this configuaration. I tried InterWebPPC, optimisations like PEP etc and it's all been too frustratingly slow to use, now websites like this forum are perfectly managable. Again, thanks.
