Well, dont get me wrong. Apple update support is great. But some iphone fans always seems overstate the downside of Android because of updates.

As has been discussed many times Android update is quite different from ios. Firstly it doesnt bind the updates to apps unlike ios. If you don't do ios update, you can't get latest app updates or install new apps (once the developers deploy recompiled new version for the updated os to the app store).

Android does not do that. Even you dont get latest o/s update, you still can download/update apps independently. You don't really lose out that much in new functionalities/capability. I have phones 2 or 3 versions behind and they still function similarly to phone with the latest o/s. You can side-load older version apps (from online archive) even if they no longer available in google Play store. Because of these my old S2/S3 can still be used normally but my original ipad/ip4 cannot.
Apple allows you to download apps for your version if you've downloaded them before. That works for me as my iPhone 4 has all the apps I need, but I can't get iOS 10 only apps for my iPhone 4. But that's okay, it's 7 mobile generations old. And there are still a boatload of apps available for the ip4.

Couldn't be less true.

Actually it is.

I am also an Android Fan Boy like your self ( apparently ) and it is in fact not AS reliable as Leopard ( iOS ). I am currently using a iPhone 7+ ( stock ) and a Rooted/ Overclocked Nexus 6 as my weekend warrior. I had to Root my Nexus ( which was lightly used ) in order for the damn thing to remain steady. I chose Nexus since it runs a pure and stock form of android since Samsung likes to tamper with it. And even at that, i still had to Root it. No thanks. My iPhone is still running like it did when i first took it out of the box and i have already used up 80% of its available memory ( 128 GB, My Girl and i travel ALOT ) lol No way will my Nexus give me that level of reliability. Hopefully they get it right in the future.

No you aren't. And no I'm not.

I'll counter your experience with my own. My iPhone and iPad have only gotten more glitchy since I purchased them. My iPad's orientation constantly locks up, my iPhone randomly reboots occasionally, and apps crash on both constantly. I don't have any of those problems on my Galaxy S7 Edge (nor my Galaxy S8, but it's too early to judge this device). I also don't have any performance issues on any device as far as scrolling is concerned. My only issue with my Galaxy S7 Edge is battery life. It's not nearly as good as it was when I got it. We'll see if that changes with the Galaxy S8 though as Samsung claims it will hold a lot more of its original capacity after a year.

Yes i am. I have been with Android since day 1 with about 9 different phones running that OS, and they have ALL given me problems. So please, Stop it.

I haven't had any of those issues with any of my Apple Devices. So i guess we can both agree to disagree at this point.

You clearly don't know what a fanboy is then. Android fan maybe, but not fanboy. I'm not a fanboy of any company. I like iOS, Android, Apple, Samsung, Google, etc.

There's no agreeing or disagreeing. You have your experiences and I have my own. But you can't say your experiences are the experiences everyone else has and add FACT at the end of your statement like that makes it true.

I have Note 4 (sold) ,5, Mate 8, s7 and r9s+ in the family and all of them don't have any issues with stabilty or crashing. In fact, up to uptime in excess of 3000 hours. Android since ver 5 (lollipop) is rock stable.

You have must have gotten a special android for it to crash all the time. Then again we always hear "android crashing/not stable" much more in an apple forum. :p

I think the worst thing anybody can admit is if their phones crashes on a thread full of fanboys. I had problems with my iPhone 6 on iOS 10 and came to a section on here for advice as I was experiencing more crashing than usual. I got lynched and called a liar with a 'faulty' phone. The irony being the following update 7 days later fixed the issue but it's the last time I ask any serious advice on here.

Now I can see somebody here experiencing the same denial treatment with android. Well guys, software does come with glitches every now and then, it's nothing new. Christ almighty lol.

i have to qualify what I said. I do get app crashes. But it is darn difficult to get android to hang (since ver 5.x). I have experienced safari (or other apps) caused the iphone to hang and you need to reboot manually. Maybe it is due to app in android runs in VM compared to natively on ios, the chances of an app crashing the phone or o/s is lesser on android.

I'm not denying his experience. I'm saying his experience is not the same as everyone else's.

I get app crashes on iOS occasionally these days but touch-wood my iPhone 6S has never once rebooted and given me an Apple symbol to date.

If you say Android is stable and my experience shows iOS the same, I really don't know what the debate is about?

I doubt any experience is absolutely identical. I know a couple of people with similar experiences to him so it's representative of 'some' people. All phones have issues with apps from time to time, it's software at the end of the day.

"What I'm saying is that the android OS is not as reliable as iOS. This my friend is FACT."

Again, never doubted he's had bad experiences. Only pointing out that not everyone has the same experiences. You're basically repeating what I'm saying but still somehow arguing with me?

6. Samsung just released another flagship phone and I still haven't received the newest OS. There's been a few zero days and I'm kinda worried, but some users on the Android forums says it's coming in the next 6 months...

FYI, Samsung and many other manufacturers have been much better at patches these days. The S7 in particular was never too far behind in patches, and even in one instance had a patch level ahead of Nexus/Pixel devices.

Also keep in mind that you can be on a patch release on different OS levels. Plenty of M based phones with the latest patches that are just as secure as the N equivalents.

As for major OS versions, you really have to ask yourself what that means to you. Can any of you out there tell me what's new in N that's missing from the Touchwiz version of M or even L?

Well, having both iPhone 7+ and Samsung S8 in my hands right now, I will reply :D

Spot on. The hardware is beautiful to hold and look at. There is are two big issues for me, and they are deal-breakers as far as S8 is concerned.

The first is with the display accuracy. I'm a professional photographer. Yes, I understand the difference between the iP7/7+ displays and the AMOLED display on the S8, and I actually owned S7 before switching to iPhone a few months ago. But photos on the S8 are way more saturated vs. the iPhone 7 or 7+. It's like Samsung dialed the saturation slider up to 11! Putting the two screens side-by-side and viewing calibration photos and any photos of mine (http://andywillia.ms) convinced me that there's no way I can use the s8. iP7 and iP7+ screens are accurate and true. Period.

The second issue has to do with scrolling. If you scroll an app (like Twitter or NY Times) on the S8, the screen jitters like crazy when you are scrolling.

Did you change the color profile to PHOTO, if not why? for the scrolling issue, let see if it is fix in the next 7.1 release they are working on. I have a Note 4 and it's still works great. My ipad always have issues, so it's not that one environment is perfect and the others are bad.

You can see herky-jerkiness as your scrolling. Scroll the same apps on iP7 or iP7+ and it's smooth like butter. S8 is going back, and I'll keep my iP7+. By the way the same happens with Safari or Chrome on iP7+ vs Chrome on S8. The scrolling using the browsers on iPhone is buttery smooth.

What I really want is iPhone 7 size with iPhone 7+ camera, and no or little bezels (larger screen). So I guess I'll be happier come end of the year when Apple has a new iPhone :)

Try setting the S8 screen to "Basic". Settings -> Display -> Screen Mode, choose Basic

Same experience as I have had. I've been an Android fan boy as well and owned many. The iPhone is just stable, it works, and its fast every time. I don't have to tweak it to get it to work well.

Your experience isn't the norm with iOS though. I know at least 10 people that never had any issues with their iPhones within my vicinity. But so many have had issues with Android including myself.

Makes me wonder why we have these android people on an Apple forum....go over to AC if you want to talk about Android.

It's always the same people hating on the iPhone on this forum.

You aren't a fanboy either. A fanboy is not something to brag about being.

Then why is there a thread in the iPad forum right now with several other users also complaining about their iPad orientation locking up? Or the report that came out within the past year or two that showed apps crash on iOS a lot more than Android?

I know at least 10 people who have never had issues with their Android phones.

Want a cookie? I don't believe anyone here cares what you think.

That's not how it works. Everybody's opinion matters for the sake of discussion and you can't subjectively push people around and tell them that nobody cares what they think. It's Not that @Channan isnt making a valid point or argument, it's just you don't agree with it, Then so be it, but do so respectfully.

I agree, but he can't come in here and be disrespectful to us either. Saying we aren't fanboys when he has no right to say that.
