Yes I'm actually one of them who liked the 4" size and the squared off sides which was much easier to prop the phone up to take pictures without having to need a support but when thinking about it properly I think the 4.7" screen is much better in accomplishing everything starting from day to day tasks to gaming.

I just got an SE last night, coming from a 6s. There are two things I can tell I'm gonna miss about the 6s right off the bat.

a) 3D touch (if not only for moving the cursor)
and
b) The Taptic Engine. How am I supposed to lowkey text at work when this vibration motor is loud as ****?!

Yeah, at some point within the past few years I stopped caring about having the latest and greatest. The main thing I look for now is battery life.

I don't need the fastest phone with the highest resolution display and the best camera. I just want a phone that is fast enough to stay smooth, has a decent display, and a good enough camera but can last me all day.

Yes, I am describing the iPhone SE.

Funny that battery life is so important now.

Didnt we have some lively debates on the iPad forum a few moths back where you were outspoken against Apple adding more weight to the iPad if it meant putting in a bigger battery?

I'm not understanding the comparison. You don't think the always-could-be-better battery life in a 4-ounce cell phone that you carry in your pocket can be WAY more important than the already-good battery life in a 1-pound tablet?

The battery life on the SE is higher (supposedly) than the life of either the air2 or the pro 9.7 at over 12hrs.

The rationale of many was that the iPhone or iPad had to last a typical day. The SE does that already.

I'm in favor of larger batteries in both. More battery is always better in my book.

Ok, but he was presumably comparing the battery of an SE to another phone, not an iPad. They serve different purposes and have different usages for the most part. It's completely plausible that someone needs/wants more battery time in a cell phone but doesn't need/want the same in an iPad, no?? Or at least is not willing to add weight to an iPad to get more time.

I personally don't need more battery time for either device, but I guess I understand at least part of this: I would like more time for my iPad Mini 4, but I'm not willing to add weight to do it. In fact I wish it was even lighter with the same battery time. As for my SE, it sits in a Belkin dock at home and in my office, so I'm not someone who needs more battery time, but I wouldn't mind if they added 1/2 an ounce and 1 or 2mm thickness to get more battery life.....the extra weight and thickness would be negligible, IMHO.

I specifically remember saying I'm all for making phones a little thicker for better battery life, but 10 hours is more than enough on a tablet, and I don't want it to get any thicker or heavier for a bigger battery.

This basically.

I can assure you that even though at the moment you're thinking that you will miss it ... After a bit you don't too much...

I came from an iPhone 6s Plus and even though I could go back to my Plus at anytime I haven't even thought about it.

I'm saying I will stay with this SE until the next launch for sure. Which at that time I will most likely go with the plus or pro or whatever they may call it...

So whoever has bought the SE recently, didn't you realise Apple is going to launch the 7 in literally a couple of months?!

Oh of course, but due to the recent leaks showing what appears to be a practically identical-to-the-6-series design (and no mention of a 4" iPhone 7), I opted to get the SE anyway.

Probably would have been better to wait it out, just to see what they really release. I'm still on iPhone 6 and unless they amuse me with some brand new feature I'm not buying another iPhone. Although the battery seems to be already working at 80% capacity in 2 years time.

I had the same issue with my 6. I wanted to just get the battery replaced and keep it at first, but I love the 4" display, plus the SE is essentially a 6s in a iPhone 5s shell.

The positive side is, the trade-in value for the SE will be a bit higher toward a 7 than a 6 would be (this is according to the Apple Store employees I spoke with), so if the 7 turns out to be better than I anticipated, I can trade up towards it.

Yeah I suppose you do have a point. Let's see if I can get the battery replaced.

If it has the same crap battery life as the 6/6S then I will get the Note 6, keep my SE and go back and forth until the 2017 iPhone comes out

Ended up returning it and I'm sticking to my 6S. But I am looking forward to the next SE if there will be next. The dealbreaker: Facetime cam and touch ID. I also missed the 3D touch which I just mainly use for previewing pics and links. But this is not really important.
Would you get a plus?

I'm switched from a 6 to and SE and it was like coming home - I prefer it so much. I even got rose (bro's) gold.
I can't help think that from now on I would either go with a small, compact size like the SE, or have the larger + size. The standard size seems an odd worst of both worlds - too big to use comfortably in one hand and not fit in my pockets comfortably - but not big enough to mean I wouldn't want an iPad too.
As it is I'm lucky enough to own an iPad Air 2, so the SE made sense for me.

I too switched from a 6 to an SE and mostly agree with this. Terrific decision. The 4.7" size in no way eliminates the need for an iPad or really makes the phone more useful. But the extra size does greatly reduce the ease of one handed operation. The fact that the 6/6s is shaped like a bar of soap also means I used a case for the first time ever, adding yet more bulk and weight.

I've owned at least one iPhone of every body style, and the 6/6s is my least favorite design ever. at least since the 3G/3GS. The 5/5s/SE, on the other hand, is my favorite.

It's hard for me to imagine going back to a larger size screen unless it's in the same size body as the SE (smaller bezels) and (hopefully) not so damn slippery without a case.

It doesn't fit in your pocket?! really?! how tight is your pocket?!

Pretty much agree with everything there. I do like the compact size of the 4" models. Let's see what Apple comes up next.
