it doesnt bother me in pockets and i wear skinnyish jeans (not tight ones just slim fitting). i enjoy the screen size and battery life. i also have an iPad air 2.
Really?! A plus phone fits in your pocket fine?! I didn't really put one in my pocket but comparing the size I felt like I won't be able to deal with the bulge.

I don't really have a problem with the size of the Plus phones. It's the size and shape I can't deal with. My Moto X is only slightly shorter and narrower, but thicker and with a slightly larger display, but it was always easier for me to use one-handed than an iPhone Plus. Now I have a Galaxy S7 Edge which has the same size display but is noticeably smaller and also much easier to use one-handed.

If Apple would go back to using flat edges or something with a big more grip, I could see myself maybe owning an iPhone Plus in the future.
I agree. This rounded side is really annoying. Especially when I was able to prop the phone up without any support earlier and now need something to hold it.

Oh of course, but due to the recent leaks showing what appears to be a practically identical-to-the-6-series design (and no mention of a 4" iPhone 7), I opted to get the SE anyway.

Same here. I absolutely hate the 6/6s design and will not be purchasing a 7. If Google had an encrypted messaging service that was universally, I'd switch to Android in a second.

I guess technically you could always use WhatsApp, Telegram or similar apps. For me personally, I found android to be cluttered and kind of "cheap", aesthetics-wise. Not to mention the broad permissions.

My wife and I just upgraded old iPhone 5's to the SE, and the difference is dramatic. Neither of us liked the hassle of a larger phone, and the SE is a great choice for "on-the-go" connectivity at a nice price. We also enjoy the 64GB option, as it let's us carry much more content. The SE will be a fine phone, until Apple finds a way to offer a thinner bezel design that would support a larger screen size in a comparable form factor.

Really?! I use both the platforms and can't think of using Android as the primary platform. In iOS land you get the best of Google and Apple.

The permission thing is one of my major gripes.

You act like there aren't some people that are perfectly happy with just Android. You also don't get the best of Google on an iPhone. You may get most or all of Google's services, but they aren't integrated nearly as well as they are on Android for lack of setting default apps.

Couldn't be bothered reading all of the comments, but anyone here switched from a 5s to the SE? Think it was worth the upgrade? Or best to stick with the 5s for another year?

If I were you I'd upgrade. The 5s is almost 3 years old now. I would get the SE now while it's current.

Hows the battery life on it? If I keep my 5s away from 3g I can get 6 hours usage (facebook, snapchat etc) before it dies. Only thing holding me back is lack of reviews for the battery life

That's hard to say, because the future of the 4" iPhone is uncertain, so you can't know if and when the next one will come out. If we knew Apple would release another one next spring, I'd say wait. The SE is really nice but not a HUGE upgrade over the 5s IMO. But it is a very nice upgrade and will handle future updates much better, not to mention it's not that expensive compared to other iPhones, so if you have the money I say go for it.

The battery life on the SE is really good. It will last noticeably longer than your 5s.

They've done it in the past with iPad 3 & 4 though.
I feel like, if they intend to keep the SE model as a permanent thing, they'll probably introduce the new one around the same time as the original launch date every year.

Then again, Apple used to be relatively predictable with their release cycles. Then suddenly, the iPhone SE is released in March, 6 months after the S cycle. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I just placed an order for the SE with T-Mobile. My grandparents bought two of them a week ago and that pushed me over the edge. I have a 6S currently (had the 6+ before that) and constantly tire of how difficult it is to hold in one hand and "type" without dropping it or having the feeling I will drop it.

jarred125, I am very interested in how you like the SE. I have the 6s and 6 before that and the 5/5s. Really liked the size of the 5.

I am just worried that after using the larger screen I might find the SE too small.

Do you feel the 5S is slow? Is the battery life poor? Do you like the size of the 5S?

If so and those apply (or two out of three) .. upgrade. If not, just stick with the 5S, it is still a capable phone.

PM me so I remember and I will update you in about a week or so after I have had a chance to get used to it.

I agree with this. The SE is essentially a 6s model in a 5s shell. It's missing a couple of things like 3D Touch, but what it lacks there it more than makes up for in power. This thing is a monster, speed-wise. And the battery life is ridiculously good.

As you can probably tell, I love mine lol.

It doesn't fit in your pocket?! really?! how tight is your pocket?!

I'm a 30 inch waste and I like fitted jeans

You realize that most of the target audience of the SE wouldn't have gotten the iPhone 7 anyway?

I don't think the iPhone 7 will be worth the money. To be honest I'd still use my iPhone 5 if it wasn't so slow. I'd be happy if Apple update the SE every two years with the latest guts and a better camera.

Agree it's very fast - I assume it's because it has fewer pixels to push, but the same CPU and GPU (even if slightly undercooked).

I recently purchased a new SE but I thought I would dig out my old 5s and use it for the day to just compare under same conditions as my SE.
Basically the 5s is less sensitive with cell reception and battery is quite a bit worse compared to SE. Also a little heavier than the SE and I do notice even if it is a measly 1g or so.
I couldnt wait to go back to my SE even only after having had it 2 days

I ran Geekbench on it again today (not that the scores amount to much), and this was my result:

It's a pretty powerful little phone indeed.

I really hope the SE gets updated in 2017 again or even better...that Apple adds the 4" model back to their yearly production cycle with the missing extras added back like the FFC upgrade, etc (with the attendant price increase).

It makes sense from a financial POV. user POV, and market POV.

My sister was all set to buy the SE because her iphone 4 is on its last legs. but she got disappointed when she found out that it was the same design as the 5s.the only way to tell you got a new phone is by buying the Rose Gold.she wanted something different like a brand new design or at least something similar to the 6s. So she's waiting to see if Apple wil offer a 4 inch iPhone 7. If not she will just buy the 4.7 version even though she hates the size.
I think she's being silly about this I think the 5s design is beautiful. and I don't even know if her iPhone 4 will last till September.
