ECID stands for Exclusive Chip ID and is unique to your phone's chipset. Your ECID SHSHs are useless to anyone else, and vice-versa. And only Apple is able to generate the ECID SHSH.

Perhaps a very esoteric question - but wasn't GeoHot looking to bruteforce the hashes at one point? I kind of recall several tweets indicating that he had something going around this. Using PS3's or gfx chips ;)

hello guys. this is my first post here so... greetings to all!

i had a little problem here, and that is, is there anything i can do with my 3gs?

iboot: 359.2
serial number: XX936XXXXXX
model: MC series
bandbase: 05.12.01
version: 3.1.3

there is not a way for me to jailbreak it right?

Q: So You "Accidentally" Upgraded to 3.1.3. Now what?
A: WAIT!

Your answer may be "simple," but it is not complete. It only applies to 3GS phones with the new bootrom or older 3GS phones without saved SHSHs. All others can at least be jailbroken again, and 2G phones and some early 3G phones can be unlocked.

Is there a Redsn0w version 0.9.3+ that will work on my G5 PPC? I unlocked my 2g with 0.8 on 3.1.2 but now I guess it won't work on 3.1.3?

Or should I just do this on my PC?

I'm a complete newb, so forgive anything that I say that doesn't seem right. I read through the thread and just want to clarify. I bought my Iphone 3gs in Nov, I'm not sure if it was running 3.1.2. I installed Blackra1n today and didn't really know what i was doing and I downloaded a program and for some reason my phone completely crashed so I had to completely reinstall 3.1.3. I see this question has been asked over and over again but is there anything I can do?

Hi, I really need help on this!

I jailbroke my Iphone 3G about 4 months ago. After awhile I realized that it has been so laggy especially when I open my text messages. I thought that the problem lied on the number of apps that I had in my iphone so I synced it to itunes to delete some of them. Itunes suggested me to upgrade my phone from 3.1.2 to 3.1.3. I was glad and upgraded it, thinking the reason for its laggy-ness was because it didn't have the latest firmware. The moment it was upgraded, it was locked! After researching, I came to realize that upgrading to 3.1.3 was a big mistake!!

Now i really don't know how to downgrade my phone to 3.1.2 again and unlock it. My phone is totally useless now. I can't even restore it.
How??? Somebody, please help! I'm desperate.
Thanks.

*anyway i'm not an official carrier

Your phone's baseband (the firmware that runs the cellular radio) has been updated, and it is not possible to downgrade it. The new baseband cannot be downgraded except in certain rare cases. This means that even if you downgrade your phone's OS you will probably be unable to unlock it for use on an unofficial carrier.

You need to shift-restore (Win) or option-restore (Mac) to 3.1.2 and jailbreak with redsn0w. Once jailbroken, install the FuzzyBand software in Cydia. Run FuzzyBand and it will tell you whether your baseband can be downgraded; if it can, you can use FuzzyBand to downgrade to 04.26.08 and unlock with ultrasn0w. If it can't be downgraded, there is simply no way your phonecan be unlocked.

Hi every one,

first of all thank you thelatinist for the post, it was quite helpfull allthrough I am a happy possesor of a Iphone 3gs new boot room...hurray.

I have read all the post here but I didn't find an answer to one of my question.

I had jailbrocken my Iphone with blackrain because I had to live in an other country for a wile. In my home country, i bought the iphone from the "official dealer" so I didn't have any use for a jailbreak/unlock.
But since im somewehre else, i figured that i should buy a new sim card wich I did, and after that I realised that my Iphone would not work. In my logic I don't see why I should pay so much money for a phone that, in the end, does not work. So I used blackrain, wich by the way was the simplest program I've ever seen. And then, I upgraded like a noob wich I am considering it was the first time I did an unlock and I had not the reflex of checking if this was ok with my unlock (I totaly forgot that the phone was jailbrocken/unlocked).

Since I lost any hope for a solution with my actual sim card my only concern is to know if I will be able to use it again when I go back on the old carier?

Yes, your phone is still locked to the carrier you bought it from. You will be able to use it on that carrier when you return to your home country.

A bit off topic. Its been a LONG LONG time since I've tried to JB an iPhone but my buddy stationed overseas sent me her phone so I can JB it. Its on 3.1.2 but its now stuck in DFU mode. The only way to get out of it is to restore it back to 3.1.2?

A couple of questions

Hi, as you may guess i am one of the careless people who updated to 3.1.3 accidentally (my case is pretty funny as i was trying to install the 3.1.3 jailbroken version, i had runned sn0wbreeze and builded my custom firmware, but when i went to burn it with iTunes i messed up and installed the original one.... :(... )
So this is my situation: I own an Iphone 3g 16GB, i don't need to unlock right now as I am using the original carrier, and i would like to have 3.1.3 unlocked, as i recentlly replaced the battery for an Iphone 3GS one thinking... hey... how cool am I.. this battery is going to last for ever... (you know, cos the 3GS is slightly "larger") and ended up with a battery indicator that always indicats 100% of charge left (it was pretty exited the first 5 hours but after 15 I started to wonder.. lol).
So then, i now have the 3.1.3 firmware with the latest version of the baseband and i would like to get 3.1.3 jailbroken.
I have tried to burn the custom firmware 3.1.3 made with sn0wbreeze but i keep getting a 1600 error from itunes, so i tried iREB and that doesn't seem to work either, the application crashes but no white/red screen.....
I don't know if I should downgrade to 3.1.2 and then do the upgrading to 3.1.3 jailbroken, but i don't really know how to go about it and also, is there any guaratee that iTunes will not show the same errors?

I don't know if this has anything to do with this, but i tried to get the SHSH files of whatever they are called but the probram "Umbrella" or something like that wouldn't work so i don't have them... What are they for? do I need them for anything.

iPhone 3G 3.0 -no service-, won't unlock

the iphone i'm trying to jailbreak and unlock is a 3G 8GB currently at 3.0 / baseband: 4.26 / Bootlog: 05.08 g2m3s2. i'm in Norway.

it was unlocked and probably jailbroken, until was accidentally updated to 3.1.3 / 5.12.

I downgraded to 4.26 and pwnage tooled it back to 3.0. installed ultrasn0w but still no luck.

I also tried redsn0w, and Blackra1n. No success.

any ideas? at a point in the process it showed the iTunes message "congratulations your iPhone has been unlocked". but it always displays "no service" with any simcard.

any feedback much appreciated.
regards!

Is this a factory unlocked phone (because it gives that message) ??

If so, did you hactivate the phone which interferes with factory unlock ?

You need to re-JB using an IPSW that is not hacktivated.

thanks dhlizard, i don't think it is a factory unlocked phone, it was bought on the internet and i don't have a way of contacting the previous owner.

i have used the custom-restore.ipsw from pwnage tool 3.0. how do i get a non-hacktivated ipsw? from apple? if so, how should i proceed?

thanks,
mmaattee

Didn't you say you used pwnage tool. Make a new custom restore IPSW and uncheck Activate phone.

If you phone continues to give that message in iTunes at then end of jailbreaking, activating, it sounds like it is factory unlocked.

yep. same screen....after following your JB pwnage instructions. thus it seems to be factory unlocked.

doesn't solve the problem though, it still won't work with any sim card...

any ideas?
cheers!
