Disagree. I don’t have bugs on my devices. I suspect in the case you are describing, it might be user error.
Nice try, but the truth is that I am a seasoned Apple developer and it is not user errors that I see.

I suspect the real reason that you don't have any bugs is that you don't do anything other than what a teenager would do on their phone so you really don't need much. With the low bar, yes Apple does probably meet it.

I rarely use Siri as is, so I doubt that I’ll subscribe/use Apple Intelligence. I’m sure Apple will still get a fair amount of subscribers though.

Make it part of Apple One then. My family uses it, we all chip in and it saves money. And we save money by getting it through Verizon, only $20/month.
[I am being a little facetious here...] I plan to save even more money by not subscribing :)

For the price of a cup of coffee………. Blah blah blah. With all this damn coffee buying people are doing with subscriptions they can’t even afford the real thing.
When I hear that coffee thing, I go:
- I don't drink like 10 cups of coffee a day..so...

Apple eventually plans to turn some of its artificial intelligence features into paid services, similar to iCloud+ subscriptions, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman.

Apple-Intelligence-General-Feature.jpg

Writing in his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman said that while Apple Intelligence will be free to start, Apple's long-term plan is to launch something like "Apple Intelligence+," with extra features that users pay monthly fees to access.

Making its own AI features another services revenue stream should allow Apple to compensate for the slowing pace of hardware upgrades and make the company less reliant on hardware tweaks to drive its business, argues Gurman.

Apple is also expected to receive a cut of revenue whenever a user signs up to features offered by its AI partners, such as ChatGPT provided by OpenAI. Gurman says he expects Apple to agree a deal with Google and Anthropic to offer their AI services through its devices, with the former expected to be announced when Apple Intelligence launches in the fall as part of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia.

Bloomberg previously reported that Apple has turned down an AI partnership with Facebook parent company Meta due to privacy concerns. Meanwhile, Apple is said to be seeking partnerships for the Chinese market, where ChatGPT and other similar AI services are not available.

If I spend $1600 on a phone and get told I have to subscribe to access its advertised features I’m going to be livid.

Why is everyone acting irritated? These things take a lot of processing power and cloud storage, and that costs money. Apple is here to make as much profit as possible, they aren’t giving things away for free.

You only get 5gb of iCloud free to incentivize you to buy more.
Because some people want Apple to provide everything for free for all people for all time.

Rent-seeking, as usual...

Wait... I thought rent-seeking meant "the act of growing one's existing wealth by manipulating the social or political environment without creating new wealth"?

Is there a new definition of rent-seeking that I am not aware of?

More of a creative for the last 40 years, but I like the way you are trying to make it sound like bugs are only there for people who know how to use a computer. Kind of childish. I don’t see bugs, but anything that slows me down, I work around. You know, like a seasoned developer might instead of whining about it. Apple has no more bugs than anything else, and I have never had to spend 4 hours to get a mac to working stage on the OS. Plus when I got it (brand new W11 Laptop) out of the box, I had a 'BIOS Checksum error' after the hitting the power button for the first time. What the hell?

Not surprising at all. Gotta keep Wall Street happy. Though I’m curious what features people would pay for?

I've seen nothing so far I'd be willing to pay for. Happy to have some of the features included with my phone purchase/upgrade but certainly won't be paying separately for any of the things I've seen so far.

That’s because
1) it’s not released
2) Gurman hasn’t added any useful information of what or when. It’s the usual Gurman each way bet.
