To be fair, there's also A LOT more people with Apple devices nowadays than during the bulk of Steve's reign. Even still, iOS and OS X are much more complex and feature packed than ever now.

Steve had his share of blunders. People complain about the Apple apologists, but the Steve apologists are just as bad.

Finally someone who makes sense.

"while others have expressed dissatisfaction at potentially needing to rinse the Apple Watch after every workout."

I hope these same people wash their gym clothes after every workout. eek

By clean, I just mean run water over it and dry it with a towel. Any electronic device I use when I'm dirty or sweaty gets at least that kind of cleaning. I don't want dried up sweat all over expensive electronics.

What expensive electronics have you used when sweaty or dirty and rinsed off with water? Just curious. I'm trying to think what kind of electronics would be ok to rinse off with water since the two don't usually mix well.

Soooo wait for version 2? :D

My brother's Macintosh Classic II. We cleaned the leaked capacitor fluid off the motherboard by cleaning it in the sink like a dish. Actually, in general, electronics are fine in water as long as they aren't powered on.

So, it should be safe to wash your phone or MacBook if you got sweat or dirt on it? Like put it under running water?

Sorry for not being clear. It would indeed be pretty silly to put things like my cell phone underneath a running faucet. After prolonged physical activity, I'll take a damp tissue and wipe my phone down, drying it with a microfiber cloth. I take the phone out of the case and clean the case about once a week.

With my "dumbwatch", however, I do indeed run it under a faucet after I exercise and dry it off with a paper towel.

Make the side of the watch a capacitive sensor, instead of using a mechanical knob.

I'm sure people have other ideas, as well. I think Ive and Newson decided on the crown at some point, then had the UI people retrofit pieces to work with it.

Correct.

Mechanical Knob. Going to be a huge issue.

Jony has too much control, and Tim is afraid of him. I feel for the UI Team. I'm sure it was Hell. One can only imaging the 12m period it took for Jony to decide on Notification Sounds. " Too Mechanical. Too Organic." Too much.

What every happened to the "User Friendly Designs?" What happened to the "Intuitive Software?"

Why do we have $1599 Netbooks? Margins, Dividends, and no QC. :apple:

No they aren't.

And the crown was poorly designed if this is Apple's answer.

It reaches the stupidity of your holding it wrong.

That makes perfect sense. You scared me for a minute, I had visions of MacBooks in the kitchen sink! I have a G-Shock and I've washed it with soap, water and a brush when I got paint on it, but it is waterproof so it was of no concern.

Under Jobs, we had terrible bugs in OS X 10.3 - 10.6.6, failed MobileMe, antenna issues with iPhone 4, and iOS 2 bugs. Stop praising him as a God.
I swear people have selected memories these days.

But under Jobs there was no question that someone was getting their ass chewed for things going wrong. With this bunch it just looks like they are off to the next parade or fashion show.

The real problem is the very bad design of the totally hyped :apple:watch! Any engineer will agree that moving parts in any machine do wear out and will eventually break first – it's that simple!

I don't understand why Apple, namely Ive, decided to go with a physical crown, while we have touch technology almost everywhere nowdays. The next design iteration should get rig of any moving interface parts = problem(s) solved.

8 years later and I'm still waiting for a home-button-less iPhone. Steve said even back then he wanted to remove it as soon as he could. It could've been done ages ago but you know it's better if iPhones actually have parts that wear-out to support planned obsolescence.

Kitchen sink? Nah, too pedestrian. I throw my MacBook in the washer and dryer, full speed and full heat! :D

And G-Shock watches are fantastic. For that matter, Casio makes great watches across the board, whether you want a $10 "Walmart-class" watch or something much more substantial.

Absolutely correct. It's no longer, "Think Different."

It's, "Form (Fashion) over Function." :apple:

Awww man, I guess I'll have to wash my hands before using my Apple Watch from now on. Damn my poor personal hygiene. I guess dipping it in syrup doesn't help either.

LOL. Seriously though, people should take care of their things- especially when paying 300 plus for an item, like your iPhone or other electronic devices, its something that should be protected from food splashes, mud etc.

Besides this, the initial "sticking" may just be something that happens when its new while it's getting worn in. I'm assuming Apple spent tons of time testing the watches hardware.

I thought that the battery would be the part that satisfied the planned obsolescence part.

However, new features seem to do it for me, too.

I've had Casio's and G-Shocks over the years and have no complaints. The strap failed before the watch ever did. They are great for an everyday beater watch. I have one of the Tough Solar G-shocks now and I really like it. It syncs with the Atomic Clock every night, the battery stays fully charged from sunlight or artificial light. I hope at some point it might be worthwhile for Apple to add some supplementary solar charging to the watch.
