I'm trying not to waste my time posting nonsense but:

Thanks to all the Guinea pig's for making the second gen a better design. This watch screams unpolished/first gen.

I'm planning to switch from Android to Apple this fall so I hope Apple approves Google Wear for my LG G watch. The watch is simple and reliable. I just want simple, quick and reliable notifications.

Why would you leave a superior product such as the Samsung Gear S for a Apple watch that has more issues then a start up company..?

You were so excited to bash Apple that you forgot to actually read the post. He's not switching watches.

Never change, MacRumors.

Yes this device has a touchscreen, but you have to interface with it using a knob.

Now the knob is sticky and, it doesn't go.

This watch shouldn't even have a crown.

Depends on how witty people are. For example tattoogate and digital-crown-gate are braindead responses. Watergate was not bad. Gate-gate was a winner.

I think they're on par with people commenting "first" now. Or like those Facebook comments where its a race for everyone to post the same meme on every famous persons post in the hope their unoriginal copied picture gets some likes.

69% of the people in this thread weren't even active on MR. I complained about my stuff breaking more during the Jobs days than I did now. I joined MR because I couldn't stand Tiger and Leopard on my iMac G4. It was taken to the Apple Store so often I just left it in the back of the car and that last time I came back home. It's a sexy coat hanger now.

You're comparing apples and oranges. You're issues had to do with natural technical advancements. In 2015 with the amount of money and success that Apple has, there should not be the problems and customer dissatisfaction that Cook is creating. Jobs improved the company and made things better from more humble beginnings, while Cook was handed a company at it's peak, and is going backwards in advancement and customer satisfaction.

Just like you're apologizing for every fault made by Steve.

-Week-long outages and data loss for MobileMe (something people were paying for, unlike iCloud)
-OS X updates that killed networking on Macs (10.2.8)
-Snow Leopard wiping out user folders
-iPhone 4 power adapter prongs breaking off

These were not "minor in-between flaws."

Yes, he was brilliant. But Apple is doing better than ever – not worse.

Lest we forget, people here and elsewhere decried the iPad even more vocally than they are the Watch.

Don't forget, the PowerMac G5 systems that leaked coolant. Paid upgrades for iOS on the iPod Touch. Antennagate. The list goes on and on.

And then, just as now, Apple manages to make great products despite their occasional mishaps.

How many hundreds of years have we had watches that you had to wind up or set the time with a rotating stem similar to the crown on the Apple watch?

Weird that Apple could find a way to make something that's been tested over time and ages, suddenly failure prone. In my entire life, none of my old standard watches had the stem become difficult to turn.

Now Apple has devised a way for reliable ancient methods to fail in a week or two?
The crown on a conventional watch does not have to provide a carefully calibrated and low resistance. In fact, it usually has quite a noticeably resistance as it has to turn the internal gears of the watch when you change the time. It usually is also not a nice experience because those crowns are generally tiny (compared to the digital crown) and need to be pulled out with your fingernails.

----------

I bet they tested the crap out of the operation of that knob in a clean room. They seem to have a problem mimicking real life in there.
Yeah and all those reports of Apple employee testing the watch over the last couple of months outside of their campus were all fake.

----------

MR making "articles" about every issue a person posts in the forum???
Yes, because people constantly complain that they had been posting about issue X already for days in the MacRumors forums before somebody else reported about it.

Better question would be why would you think someone has to clean a watch after exercising? It's not like that's a normal proposition for a watch. Wiping sweat off the back, sure, but cleaning a watch after every exercise session? Nothing about that says reasonable expectation.
People tend to rinse everything they have dipped into seawater for good reason. Wearing something on your skin while sweating isn't really different.

I understand, but the "old Apple" is never coming back. Ever. Those days are long gone, and it seems like the long-time Apple users who are currently unsatisfied with Apple might need to move on.

So it seems you're admitting that Apple under Tim Cook is doomed? The "old Apple" visionary lead company that grew to be the biggest in the world is gone and never coming back? A lot of confidence in Tim Cook?

What if it gets to the point where all Apple users become "unsatisfied" with Apple and move on? You're logic is outstanding.

I have a better suggestion. How about users voice their dissatisfaction and offer customer feedback in hopes that Apple will listen and give it's customers what they want, rather than simply remain quiet and "move on".

Technical advancements or technical problems both software wise and hardware wise? I don't understand your first few sentences.
Where are we going backwards in advancements? My MacBook Pro is faster than when it was new due to Yosemite and it was free unlike Snow Leopard. iCloud is no where near as bad as MobileMe and it is also free.
I'm very satisfied right now. No need for update anything right now.

I don't really care whether or not Apple is "doomed". Apple has been doomed since it was founded, so 2015 is just yet another year in Apple's history. If somehow all the boys that cry wolf are right and Apple actually is doomed this time around, then I have no problem using Windows and Android. The Surface Pro 3 and HTC One (M9) are fantastic devices, anyways.

Like I mentioned in another comment with a few examples, Apple had numerous failures under Jobs. Apple has had failures under Tim Cook as well. But under Cook, Apple has sold more devices and become more profitable than ever. That doesn't discredit how Jobs basically rebuilt Apple from ashes, but a vocal minority of people that are perennially unsatisfied with everything Cook says and does also doesn't discredit Cook.

And anyways, I do believe Apple has feedback options on their website for people who would like to share their opinions.

no big deal. The digital crown will likely be dropped on generation 2 or 3 anyway

I did that hundreds of times. It was about the design of OS X 10.5 - 10.9 and iOS 1-6. ;)
I represented flat icons in OS X before it was a trend.

But how will we be able to zoom or scroll? The screen is too small.

1. Don't write a UI that requires zooming on a tiny screen. Nobody else did.

2. It's not too small to scroll on. It's not like Apple uses the crown for that purpose all the time, anyway. Heck, it requires a finger to scroll the homepage icons around, etc.

=or=

Make the side of the watch a capacitive sensor, instead of using a mechanical knob.

I'm sure people have other ideas, as well. I think Ive and Newson decided on the crown at some point, then had the UI people retrofit pieces to work with it.

You think these are even close to the same? Under Jobs we never saw such an increasing number of unhappy, disappointed, and frustrated customers as we see under Cook.

To be fair, there's also A LOT more people with Apple devices nowadays than during the bulk of Steve's reign. Even still, iOS and OS X are much more complex and feature packed than ever now.

Steve had his share of blunders. People complain about the Apple apologists, but the Steve apologists are just as bad.
