There must be a moisture indicator (or two) in the retail watch bodies. If I bring in a watch that shows moisture intrusion, can I claim that it wasn't really my fault, I was simply following the procedure to fix a sticky crown? ;)

Rinsing your sticky knob? Don't sweat it.

I think there are enough data points now to argue the product was rushed to market by a year or so. The question is why?
I don't see a single one. In fact, the Apple Watch is so far ahead of any other smartwatch to the point of defining a class of its own, it feels like Apple have been sitting and developing this since forever. If anything it should've come earlier to the market.

So, it should be safe to wash your phone or MacBook if you got sweat or dirt on it? Like put it under running water?

Actually, yeah, as long as you make sure it's completely dry inside and out afterwards and don't let it get moldy and make sure the battery terminals don't get wet. I don't think the battery terminals would get wet on a device with a non-removable battery anyway, but I'm not sure. That would also involve leaving it in a bucket of dry rice afterwards... So it's not a good idea in the end. But people rescue them from water damage that way.

Always wait for apples gen 2 device... the gen 1 is basically a prototype you pay to test for them

I have to wash any sweat off my fingers or the knob to adjust my Rotary analog watch too. I know the problem here has different causes, but is it really worse or just more obvious because you have to turn the knob so frequently?

So every little issue someone experiences becomes a front page story and thus turns into a [insert name here] gate? Is MR that hard up for clicks?

there are hundreds of comments on each of these articles. Give it a rest man. It is a hot topic.

At the original keynote, when the 'digital crown' was first mentioned, I mistakenly assumed it was fully "digital" in nature, ie. no moving parts.
And that the circle of small linear white 'tick marks' were actually light sensitive LEDs, and would sense your thumb and forefinger smoothly moving over the top of them.. interpreting that as a rotation.

I was quite surprised when I saw that the crown physically moved.

Well, i feel good for all of this. If thr only complains with the watch are associated eith few defective units then seems everything is ok. When, nobody is returning his watch saying that it is a piece of useless crap, then seems like we have a great product and the people love it. If you have a problem with your watch, bring it to apple for repair or replacment. Why you have to record videos and post them on youtube and spending many hours in disscussion forums to complain.

Ive yet to see someone say that he is absolutly disapointed with his purchase and is returning it asap.

Genius Bar for Apple Watch

All the other smart-watch makers decided a days battery life wasn't good enough so are waiting for battery tech to catch up, Apple likes selling expensive jewelry to people who think that its actually useful for something other than being a fashion item :D ;)

Under Jobs, we had terrible bugs in OS X 10.3 - 10.6.6, failed MobileMe, antenna issues with iPhone 4, and iOS 2 bugs. Stop praising him as a God.
I swear people have selected memories these days.

To this day I still suffer with terrible bugs in the software Apple put out. iTunes is awfully slow, Airplay works when it thinks it wants too and Safari on all of my devices experiences errors and crashes for no reason.

Apple have wasted valuable time making this flop of a device and the customers that never wanted it are still waiting for fixes to issues that shouldn't exist.

you know what? given how insanely hard apple works on things, how much they actually care to give the world something great, and how incomparably far ahead of every other company in their sectors they are.... the above is either a comment of immense stupidity, or of deep ignorance. either way, i actually find it insulting.

you people are all children. there's not a single ****** thread on this forum with the possibility of being an actual discussion of anything with thoughtful ideas and debate; every single one devolves into absolute and utter ignorant ranting and whining -- like a bunch of 7 year olds on temporary brain boost drugs from some cheesy sci-fi movie. worthless.

cya.

And the winner of the 'Macrumors poster who most perfectly parrots Apple marketing BS' - award ... goes to ....

It's sticky
To rock the time
To rock the time
It's full of slime
It's sticky!

It's sticky (sticky)
Sticky (sticky)

Just wait until it's discovered that Apple's quick-fix rinsing solution causes some sort of damage. Then we'll have "watergate." #nomoregatestotraverse. :D

I'd just like to know how many people actually have this issue. "Some" is not a number. If it's a small number of people it doesn't deserve a front page story. Not until/if it's determined it's a much bigger issue.

The Apple Watch...I hope this thing does not prove to be the defining symbol of a "Post Jobs" Apple.

The "defining symbol" of Apple is selling products by the million and having such a high media profile that your product launches are headline news.

The downside of this is that rare, one-in-a-thousand-users problems (such as having the wrong coloured tattoo in the wrong place) affect hundreds of users and make at least page 2 of the news.

Overall, its probably a nice problem to have.

Why do you find it insulting? You aren't Apple, you just buy their products. You can criticize when they don't deliver. It's ok. Both the Rmb and watch are products people will want to wait until the 2nd generation. They are no longer ahead of the game in any sector
