I used the app on my iPad and that worked just fine and came up immediately at about 3:03. I was watching a livestream of a youtuber stressing out about his order and his came up at the exact same time. I guess I was lucky and I immediately ordered since I liked the configuration I wanted previously. About 30 seconds after the app went live the website on my laptop did. I don't understand why some had this issue and I can understand the frustration.

I got my phone reserved @ 12:07am PT but to connection issues with AT&T so I should be getting a launch day X right? Nope - Got my email today, and just completed the order 2-3 weeks for shipping. Just awful. How is it everytime a phone comes out apple screws this up?

This is where a pre-approval process can set everyone up to just order when the store opens up. Unfortunately some purchase scenarios did not support a pre-approval like with the upgrade program. If Apple can work with the carriers to enable pre-approval for all or even most use cases, your experience would be much better. BTW, I blame the carriers, not Apple, for this bad behavior because carriers need to be open to the process. The last thing any carrier should want is for their servers to be overwhelmed and having IT staff rebooting boxes constantly because they can't handle the load :)

I breezed through the Verizon pre-order process using their app. Got my confirmation number 2 minutes prior to the top of the hour when orders were supposed to start. Glad I checked there instead of waiting for the Apple store, which was still not live for me at 10 minutes past.

Same thing was happening with T-Mobile. I had my phone, computer and my wife all trying to get the site to load anything. It got through a few times but never even showed the X as an option to buy. Ended up getting through on the Apple Store App but the whole store was indeed down on the west coast for at least 10 minutes past midnight. Managed to get 2 though and 2-3 week shipping. Hopefully the trend holds true for the X that shipments are much quicker than expected as they were in previous years.

I upgraded my AT&T phone through the Apple Store app. Went super smooth. That app hasn’t let me down yet.

I got my pre order on AT&T's website at 3:07am space gray 256 GB said it would be here by Nov 4 checked the order status today and I have a alert saying if you do not want us to cancel your order call us so mi call talk to some guy at E Com he says he has to cancel my order and I need to redo the pre order on AT&T website and that shipping will not be effected everything should stay the same so I place the order now im stuck with shipping Dec 4-18 so I call them back tell them what has happened they say so sorry that you were misinformed what a crock of $****.

Waiting for preorders to start like

It was up, it was just too jammed to let everyone in.

Nope... "We've got something in store for you" for 15 minutes after start time sure isn't an open store.

I'm in the second wave and wasn't even offered pickup, which is strange since every other order I've made from Apple can be done with pickup if desired, and others are reporting setting up pickup orders. It's a big deal for me because my daughter has therapy and other appointments (she's a former micro preemie who is lucky to be alive today) and I also work so it may be a problem to try to be home on a particular day and the UPS center isn't near my house. I just have to pray they choose an available day and use FedEx for my order if they don't since the FedEx center is near my house.

The delivery delay isn't a huge deal but the screwed up website/you-have-to-use-the app is and the missing pickup option is.

Why don't they just accumulate pre-orders for the first half hour and make it a lottery? Would make it more fair in my opinion.
Because people who who want it badly enough will have their plan in order so they can execute right away.

Maybe I’m off topic since I’m in Australia, but my order via Telstra processed for me but I never received a confirmation email. Getting hold of a representative on the chat system took a long time. They confirmed that they didn’t even have a record of my order. Not at all happy. Instead of a launch day delivery, I now have a 5-6 week wait and it’s not my fault. This is the worst preorder I’ve experienced. In my eyes you are lucky with a 2-3 week wait.

"Walk into an Apple Store on Nov 3 and be able to pick up an X" MY ASS

Why do we let Apple lie to us? It seems all of the supply constraint rumors were true, at least to some degree, yet they flat out spun it around to make it sound like there would be plenty of inventory. Bull-****ing-****, Tim Cook.
Jesus. Calm down. It’s just a phone one and two Apple owes you nothing

1st world problems but yes my Apple Store app kept crashing and giving the unexpected error for 3min and by then i got stuck with 2-3 weeks fml...

Apple website wasn't updating... AT&T threw me in a digital line... loaded up Edge - yes, the browser named Edge - and was done in 5 minutes while the others in Chrone were still figuring out what to do.

I can confirm all of this. The queues started at 10pm and didn't tell you it was a queue unless you looked in the dynamic URL. It simply gave you a countdown with some text to create excitement about the event without blatantly telling you that you're screwed if this is your method of purchase.

I experienced longer and longer fake wait times while getting warnings from other sites telling me of product sell out and longer estimated delivery times. This caused me to quit all ATT apps and browser windows and head over to Apple where I was at least able to order something with a 2-3 week wait time.

ATT is run by morons.

iPhone X pre-orders began at 12:01 a.m. on the West Coast and 3:01 a.m. on the East Coast in the United States, with throngs of Apple customers rushing to purchase the device as quickly as possible in the middle of the night.

While many customers were able to complete their order quickly enough to receive a delivery date of November 3, the day the device launches, some using the AT&T app to pre-order faced unexpected delays of 10 to 15 minutes or longer.

AT&T subscriber Gina, for example, tweeted a screenshot of the app showing that her estimated wait time was 16 minutes until she could pre-order an iPhone X. Worse, she said she repeatedly lost her position in the virtual queue.

A second AT&T customer Chris tweeted a screenshot of the app saying "there's been an error tracking your place in line" with a "try again" button. When he tried again, he said he was placed into another 35-minute queue.

Meanwhile, some customers attempting to pre-order on Apple.com or with the Apple Store app said the storefront remained offline for around 10 to 20 minutes after iPhone X pre-orders officially began.

iPhone X shipping estimates slipped to 2-3 weeks for most models within just 15 minutes, and to 4-5 weeks within 30 minutes, so these hiccups mean that some customers might not receive their iPhone X until early December.

Apple typically underpromises with its shipping estimates, however, so some customers may receive their iPhone X earlier than expected.

A bit of good news is that some customers who received a message from Apple stating they "can't reach the carrier systems" have received an email with instructions to complete their order for delivery as early as November 3.

iPhone X shipping estimates are now holding steady at 5-6 weeks in the United States.

Do you have a close UPS Store? The packages can be held there, too.

I do but they make you let them attempt delivery once, which is stupid. If I know it's coming why can't I have them drop it there in the first place?

Hi, ordered at 12:05 from app store, every time I went to checkout, it would send me back to checkout again. My order was still there and it gave me no reason, why I had got I had to go back to checkout.. I didn't get my ordered confirmed until, 12:17 with shipping dates between November 17-24. First time this has ever happened to me at checkout, had to go back in 4 times and finally went through. If the didn't happen I would have had Nov 3 deleivery. Anybody else?
Thanks, Jerry

I ordered 256GB iPhone X space gray via AT&T about 12:07 am PT. Delivery estimated November 3. No issues ordering. I did get in AT&T cue preceding day via Apple Stote app.

A bit annoyed here... Apple.com didn't come up until 12:09 am PDT for me (and I'm on a very common DNS)... when it came up, the delivery window had slipped to 2-3 weeks.

I'd be more upset if I wasn't leaving tomorrow for 2 weeks vacation, so the shipping time actually works perfect for me. I'd be super p'd if I was going to be around on the 3rd and some could access the order site at 12:01 and I couldn't until 12:09.

Every year it's something with Apple.

Why on Earth are people complaining about few weeks delay? Right now it is 5-6 weeks delay. I will be happy with two weeks delay.

because i am sure most ppl would be able to get it sooner if the app were not having problems? i am sure ppl dont complain if they order after 5 hours and then it got delayed

I have some serious issues with ATT recently. I was somehow able to make it in time to reserve my phone for shipment October 3rd (purchasing for my relative), despite 4 roadblocks this AM.
  1. In order to reserve the phone, The Apple Store needed to communicate with ATT's servers, This timed out twice after I got into the store (2:04 AM Central), stating server connection could not be established.
  2. After it FINALLY got through, it stated that my ATT Account was passed due, 1st, it wasn't, 2nd Why the heck does it matter if I am paying full price for the phone? I had to Kill the store, and start over.
  3. I had to open the ATT application to check my account / billing status. As I was clicking through to my billing status their Wonderful iOS application took me away from my account page, to an iPhone X announcement, telling me I could preorder Apple's new phone today (Really, no kidding ATT!!)). So, I had to navigate Back to where I was, at my account status page, to confirm I was fully paid up, and in good standing. (confirming the warning in the Apple Store application was completely False)
  4. After I got back into the Apple Store application, it again had issues connecting to ATT servers, but, eventually did let me in to reserve my spot

With this occurrence, ATT not fully supporting my Pixel 2 (Wifi Calling, Mobile HotSpots, Number Sync), and the entire day of fighting them to Activate my Apple Watch 3 LTE, I am done with this company.

T-Mobile will be getting my business going forward, as, my test SIM with Pre-Pay service activated, has worked at all of my primary locations where I need service. Watching this forum, people with AW3 have had little issues, Pixel 2 is fully supported, and, there was little to no issues with X orders, It is clear that somehow T-Mobile is more established, and better suited to support the US Market than, Oddly, American Telephone and Telegraph.
