This does not bode well for M2 MacBook Air availability. (Unless they're using up all the chips for that over this M2 Pro)

Just because you are doesn't mean that others will too. How selfcentered are you?

Maybe you don't even need Pro at all if thats the case. Or maybe everyone should be using the computer YOU approve.

Jeez, some people here.....

Why 24gb on MacBook Air? Is he going to max that ram out daily? Is it worth the way?

I'm doing fine with M1 Pro + 16GB.

Why have RAM at all? Just use swap for everything. Don't worry about the health of the SSD, you're only keeping the computer a couple years anyways. And while we're at it, let's get rid of all those unneeded CPU and GPU cores we only need one of each.
That is exactly how I like my Macs;lean and mean. :D

24GB is todays sweet spot what 16GB has been until now.
Don’t start the f••• circus that people did with 8 vs 16GB before.

I have 32GB it’s to much but 16GB is to little so if I would order now, we’ll the air 24GB is perfect as a developer / specialist

16 is more than a sweet spot for majority of people and will be for a long time.

If I was currently purchasing, I would choose the 14 in MBP over this, but if budget was a factor, go with the Air. I have the M1 MBP and I have no complaints really, the touch bar doesn’t bother me and I actually use it.

But the M2 just looks more forward thinking it’s design and we all know Apple is not doing anything else to advance the touch bar. I don’t even know why they high light it as a feature. On top of the web cam, small display, 13.3 vs 13.6.

You know that the iPhone has RAM as well, know that the iPhone has RAM as well, right?
And do you know that RAM is not configurable on iPhones within like models, making your comment moot when it comes to this discussion? And do you know that all versions of iPhone 14 will have the same amount of RAM?

If you are looking to buy higher-end configuration, or 16-24GB RAM and 512-2TB SSD, spend $300 more and get the real 14" MBP. You get a bigger screen with XDR and ProMotion, more I/O (MagSafe, 3rd Thunderbolt/USB, HDMI, SDXD), better webcam, and probably faster performance.

Apple Silicon gave the Mac a reason to exist and finally a valid reason for everyone to switch from Windows. I expect a lot of folks to finally ditch Windows.

I had 16 GB originally and my computer was struggling a lot. Added 32 GB to make it a 48 GB system, it works marvelously now, some workflows really do benefit from more RAM, not anyone needs more than 16 GB, but those who do I recommend to get it right away when purchasing.
What sort of work do you do that benefits from all of the extra ram? I’m going to buy one of these M2s at some point (soon) and am stuck on the 8 GB vs more, because it seems like there’s more disagreement between the 8-is-enough and the No-its-not crowds than there is between the Han Shot First and Shot Second groups.

I've been assured by The Internet that this computer is a terrible bargain and has no reason to exist, so what's going on here?
It kind of is a terrible bargain, but people still want it. Some are getting it probably just for the Touch Bar. I really miss the Touch Bar, but I want more power than it offers, so I'm not going back.

Lol, “everyone switch”.

These computers are useless in STEM, and to gamers/power users.
