Up until 14.00 this afternoon here in the Netherlands, the ‘black’ color was named ‘middernacht’, midnight, on the Dutch Apple site. From the moment you could pre-order the color was renamed ‘inktblauw’, ‘inkblue’.
I hesitated to order and will now wait till I see the watch in store. Color and bands are definitely an issue for me. I want it as ‘cool’ as it can be.

They should never have dropped the gold. It was popular. They are greedy scum and thought they would up sell.

Scum? Really? This is a luxury item, not an essential good. You can drop the ridiculous melodrama.

For those hitting "disagree" - I'll wait for you to explain how I'm wrong here. That will prove a lot harder than clicking a button.

Still trying to figure out what color midnight is. Seems like it has a blue tint to it?
It looks like it, and yeah the "Midnight" phones that I have seen in person basically look the same under regular lighting conditions. If it's some touch of navy it seems like it's generally not going to be that noticeable, but it still does seem weird they added some color to their neutral finishes when they do have other color options.

I'm sure there's some reason for these color changes, but from the outside they do seem a bit odd. Especially considering red is still there, yet considering you could regularly find $329 and $349 red Series 6's it didn't seem like it was a super-popular color.

I get what you’re saying - and you aren’t wrong, but Black and Silver are like, they have to be there.
See the problem is, they are there. It's just that some people feel that they shouldn't have to pay extra to get the color they want.

Now only if apple released a green watch when they released the midnight green iPhone 11 Pro. That combo would have been 🔥

I wish they would just offer black. a black aluminum watch. Why is that so hard? I may have upgraded my space grey series 6 but not a fan of the blue tone in the midnight.

They have Graphite and Space Black choices, but just not with the aluminum case (as you pointed out). Can't please everyone, obviously. There will always be a limited amount of colors and some that are exclusive to certain models.

The colours are different. Midnight is dark blue and starlight has gold tint to it. They are not space grey and silver.
If they are shades of gray and silver they are gray and silver. I can't take someone who buys an entry-level device seriously when they complain about options. No red titanium? Sure. No black aluminum? LOL.

You guys didn’t seem to care when they removed black stainless steel for graphite on a premium model but this year we get a whole article? Please

“Some customers are unhappy…”
Couldn’t you follow this with every single product Apple has ever made? Or any other company.

I once ate a perfect in-season peach that I was entirely happy with.
Yes this is the least interesting headline ever. Humans have not entered nirvana…news at 11

We are talking about an entry-level watch where beggers shouldn't be choosers.
An entry level watch is $10. This is a $400 smartwatch. The entry level iPad is $329. This watch costs more than an iPad. It's not unreasonable to expect tried and true color options.

The orange iMac 24” is pretty sweet. In fact, all the iMac 24 colors are nice.

But I agree with you about the rest.
It’s not about the colors but the front design is just terrible..huge bezel no Apple logo..just empty large chunk of bezel they look like a really bad prototype.
iMac used to be the staple and symbol of Apple design language..the previous generation is still stunning to look at..then they turn something so beautiful into these..unbelievable!

I respectfully disagree. I would agree if you were talking about exclusive new colors, but the more neutral colors should be accessible at all price points in my opinion. To a similar but opposite extent, I think Apple should also continue to expand on a “fun color” option for the Pro Series phones as well.

All of this of course is subject to logistics and sensible manufacturing, but I can understand why people are upset about the absence of a B&W color option on the aluminum models. Some people even prefer those models for their lighter fit.

Edit: Added some vintage…

What is going on at Apple? I find none of the colors particularly appealing. I suppose I'd choose midnight if I had to, the rest look gimmicky.

Meanwhile, everything is sold out. Also, LOVE the new blue. And starlight is actually legit. It looks silver, but if you angle it in different ways it almost likes like a very light gold. Like a star!
“Sold out” alone doesn’t mean much. Apple can choose to only manufacture 10k units and they will get sold out fast. Doesn’t mean the product is popular, just mean there aren’t many to fill the demand.

I love it when, with nearly every product launch, there are always folks who say some variation on "sold out! - another AMAZING Apple product! EVERYBODY WANTS IT!! - GO TIM GO!"

🤣

It's funny to me they way we all react to sold out as being this mass indicator of unprecedented demand. Do you know what Tim Cook's contribution to Apple was and why he is CEO? He was and still is an inventory and supply chain, and logistics guy. That's what he did. Making that hyper efficient. Tim Cook and Apple want zero stock. They want zero inventory. Because inventory costs them money. That is why there is always low supply. They want just enough product on hand, that it comes in and goes out at the same time. They want to hold nothing.

Apple charges Apple Watch hundreds of dollars. They aren’t cheap. Having such Color mismatch, however slight it might be, is justifiable.
And no, apple will not donate their lost sales to Africa.
Out of all Colors this year, I think blue is the best for me, since I got (quite literally) limited edition blue woven nylon band.
