The science backing my position that some people on here are being ridiculous about the colors? Well, observation for oneWhat makes your position any more valid than anyone else’s? Seriously asking. Like is there science supporting it or something?

What problems or complaints ARE people allowed to have?
It seems like a faction of the forum would prefer that everyone simply express joy and happiness with anything and everything Apple does...and all should pull out their credit card, pay uncle Tim and be quiet.
Are we customers or just subjects here to pay Apple for whatever they do?
These are watches.
You wear them on your wrist.
Other people see them on you
It is extremely legitimate to have strong opinions about the colors.
Buy the strap on eBay cheap as I never buy Apple genuine straps as their way overpriced and you can buy the same thing on eBay at a fraction of the cost. Apple just want to rip you off with their accessories to make their billions of dollars they do.I just went to place a pre-order for a gift for my father-in-law and was taken aback to discover that I cannot even order the cheapest case material (aluminium) in a space grey / charcoal / black colour. Instead, the darkest colour available in the aluminium is 'midnight', which is a blue. Moreover, my father-in-law is a mechanic and needs a black strap (to hide grubby marks etc) but the darkest sport strap available is the charcoal but it has blue edging that doesn't even match the midnight blue. What the? Anyway, I don't think he'd be keen on the midnight blue so no pre-order placed.
I also looked into the sports band colour options but there's no black / charcoal sports band available. The darkest sports band available is 'midnight', but if you pair the midnight sports band with the midnight aluminium case the two aren't even the same colour!
Not sure how midnight can be described as navy blue. Looks the same as space gray to me.
I agree, but what's strange to me is how suddenly this occurred. Say what you will about Apple over the last 5-10 years, but its color palettes are always spot on. You could practically look to a new Apple watch band lineup to know what colors were going to be in vogue that year. Also, it was a pretty common thing for people to post pics of all their new matching Apple gear, which isn't even possible this time around. What happened?!
I LOVEEEEEEE the olive green from 11. If I wasn’t the type that likes to upgrade, I would have kept it (that and I dropped it so the back cracked and I gave it to my friend). It’s why I skipped 12 the first time.. I usually upgrade every year. Prior years it’s ok… the olive army forest green like? Perfect. Worked with everything for me. Didn’t even mind when I broke out my bright red longchamp for traveling and felt a bit christmasy. When has anyone been happy with the available color options?
The one color they did fix this year was the Product Red.
Wow, this is incredibly insightful. You should comment this in response to every MacRumors post because it is always so relevant. How did the supercomputer that is your brain compose this erudite masterpiece? We all have so much to learn from youMeanwhile some hungry people in Brazil are searching for food on cities landfills.
Do you upgrade annually for professional or personal reasons?I LOVEEEEEEE the olive green from 11. I like the blue more than previous colors (iPhone 13 pro max) but not as much as I love the green. And I loveeeeee the simplistic silver (ss) with white band option. I never brought another band while having it for the past few years.
im ok with the Hermes I brought but if I were to be honest… if I don’t love it irl I have no problem just buying a new white band (as the one I have is not quite new anymore) and sucking up the battery needing to be recharged towards the end of the evening.
my point is, not all of us grumbling are grumbling just for grumbling.
Personal.Do you upgrade annually for professional or personal reasons?
I was reading up on the typical replacement cycle and it has lengthened from 2yrs to 3yrs.
With iOS Software/Security Updates lasting more than 7 years makes it feasible to just change batteries every 2-3 years while genuine batteries are available.
Even if you did buy everything from the same generation, the Space Greys and Golds won't match. Apple has become sloppy in their design and quality.Don't most people wind up with a mixture of years across their devices anyway? This years watch, last years phone etc? The only people helped by matching colours within a year would be those buying everything. Basically, it's a pointless pursuit.
This reminds me when there were two different file transfer features named AirDrop but didn't work together. If you are doing to have something (whatever it is), then have it the same across platforms/devices (i.e. starlight is same hue/shade on all devices).
I’ve seen the blue hue in “midnight” since the launch event. It’s subtle but clearly there, comparison or no.That link claims to see blue when compared to the space gray. Remove the comparison and the blue isn't something that stands out. Concerns of blue hues are only an issue with direct comparisons.
