I’m sure there are plenty who like the colours but I really like the idea of something neutral. I’m amazed that they’ve taken this route.

Not everything needs to look like it came from a box of crayons.

As a woman, I much prefer those kinds of colors to black. What's wrong with targeting colors to women? I find black a wretched color in devices.

I love the starlight watch color and plan to get one when supply evens out a bit. I've had a rose gold one for the past four years and wasn't keen on any of the recent color options. Starlight is enough to be different for me to be a fresh change but still feminine.
I don’t think being a woman has anything to do with it. Plenty of men like color just like women and plenty of women *ahem* like plain silver (or black) vs color… just easier to go with everything including switching out bands if one chooses to.

well these are the people willing to buy a new watch all the time, so they have at least a right to complain about the color since they are the ones that buy them
Actually, it's been 3 years since I bought one. My watch broke last year in a freak accident, and I've been saving up. Since about May, I wanted to wait until the new one came out, which I've been expecting for moooooonths. I got so fat recently my exercise shorts will fall off with a phone in the pocket weighing them down, no matter how tight I tie the cord, and I'd like for my outdoor walk runs to not be to insanely boring. So watch has music and doesn't tug my shorts off. And then finally the day comes and they don't have basic color options for something that costs to dang much?

i was responding to the part where the previous poster was complaining about marketing the colors to women. Sure there are lots of women who might prefer a neutral color, but we shouldn’t be dismissed from wanting colors just because we are women.

I’m not as concerned about the color as I am about the shape. Round watches are so much better looking. Put out a decent looking round watch and the sales would double.
Do you have any idea how incredibly difficult it is to code a circular app layout? There's already enough problems building apps for watches, we don't need more.

Was begin to wonder is I was the only one who opted for the green over midnight did the standard blue sports band as well. Kind of hoping I don’t regret the decision.

Edit: Upgrading from a space gray series 4 I’ve had since 2018.
I almost went with the green. I've been told I look really good in deep greens, such as hunter green. however, it's really really hard to get normal-looking clothes in those colors, even in the summer when clothing options for men loosen up from the black / blue / white. So it would have been a green watch with blue clothes.... and look, I'm not all that great with picking clothing styles, and even I knew that wasn't going to work.

Congratulation, Macrumors, this article conclusively proves you have become Apple hating troll-bait, no longer serving the purpose of reporting relevant news and rumour. It has been a long run but enough is enough. I am out.

How do you figure? This is literally the first time Apple has removed standard color options from the plebeian watches.

I suspect you’ll be back shortly.

I think he means his perception of the quality of this site and news vs the actual watch launch.

Not digging at him specifically but I never get people who announce or feel the need to announce, their irate and leave. Why not just leave.

when I announce my disappointment (of something, anything) it’s because I’m not yet past the point of caring, so I’m engaging in dialogue. When I am, I just leave, that’s it. Or I just stop buying. Etc.

Watch…Apple will have Midnight and Starlight replace Space Gray and Silver with the next generation of MacBook Pros.

and that has anything do with what I wrote

I just want an aluminium watch, as if/when the case get scratched you can buff it out easy. With any type of finish on the watch, you then have a silver scratch in the colour finish. Also like others are saying it now doesn't match my Mac or iPhone!

My previous two were whatever the black/dark grey color was. I'm considering the Starlight for a 7, but I haven't seen it in person yet. The midnight would go with the straps i own, but I don't think it would look good with the Clover strap I was thinking of ordering.

Anyone order the stainless, graphite series 7 watch? I did. I am now wondering if there are going to be many watch band makers offering graphite color mounting hardware?

I think I may have made a mistake on this. The watch does come with a Milanese mesh band in the matching color. But I don't often wear that style. Pretty much in jeans and shorts these days.

Most of my current watch bands have black hardware, and I'm hoping they look alright withgraphite.
Assuming that Series 7 graphite looks the same as Series 6 graphite: Depending on lighting conditions, graphite looks pretty dark and imho the combination with black connectors is absolutely okay. Kind of repeating the black bezel. Especially when looking from a normal distance and not in closeup with a magnifying lens. If anything, it makes the whole Watch appear a bit darker.

The fact that colors and hues are different across products lines is an embarrassment.

This is not what the Apple of the past 20 years was about. I feel like we’ve gotten closer and closer to the sloppy Apple from the 90s.
Been saying it for ages. Tim Cook is the new John sculley lol. Only Steve made so much money for Apple second time around they can’t really fail.

Basic updates, too many products, high prices, neglected product lines.

Yet another new low for MacRumors.

With no trumped up "-gates" to chase after, they are now down to this - - some customers are unhappy with color options.

Worst of all, they use this twitter quote in the front page article to backup their case:

"I mean, not that I'm getting a Watch this year anyway, but I actually don't know what I would pick if I were."
MacRumors would be laughable if it wasn't so pathetic.
Meaningless Social Media drivel wrapped in a clickbait article to generate revenue for the site.
