I believe that the best color pallet would have been the same ones used on the new iMac. There are some "safe" colors there, like Black and Product Red, and some easy to look at colors in the midrange. These colors get users comfortable with the iMac colors, hopefully drawing them to the iMac when they are near the Apple Store, or MacBooks if there are ranges in the same colors.

Changing those almost seem to say that the iMac colors were a mistake - which I don't think they were.

For me, I have a while before. new watch, but need a new watchband before long. Since I have the basic watch with cell I may go with the Product Red band I hopefully it will brighten my day!

Been saying it for ages. Tim Cook is the new John sculley lol. Only Steve made so much money for Apple second time around they can’t really fail.

Basic updates, too many products, high prices, neglected product lines.

If Steve Jobs hadn’t been cremated, he’d be spinning in his grave to see the mismatched watch and watchband colors. How does something that simple get screwed up?

And for that matter, why aren’t the same basic colors available across all current product lines? Why does the iPad Pro come out in space gray, only to have the iPhone come out in graphite, and then the watch come out in midnight (or whatever the hell they’re calling it)?

People are expecting the Apple Watch to be a formal watch that a person would wear a hiso party or a job interview. It isn't. The Apple Watch is a health monitoring/ exercise tool used to collect health and fitness data, and not to look classy like a traditional watch. As soon as people start realizing that, they will be much happier.

This is silly. No one at Apple believes this, and the price tag certainly doesn’t suggest it.

yeah just look at their results pre/post Jobs. If he hadn‘t filled the coffers they’d be in REAL trouble.

Have you ever checked out the website to see the watches? It might be worthwhile.

I checked out the colors because I figured they must be atrocious. I thought they were fine. I guess to someone who wants Space Grey, Midnight must be a disappointment. I can barely tell the difference. This is pretty first world problem type stuff for me, but I guess this is the monster Apple created.

Of course they're fine. I think they look great.

Many people today can't feel good about life or themselves unless they have something to complain and be outraged about. Having a good whine gives them a little blip of power that's otherwise lacking in their lives.

It's the new normal.

Nuking the silver option has got to be the stupidest design/fashion decision Apple has made since the iMac G3's apex of bizarreness, Flower Power and Blue Dalmatian, which fortunately were replaced right away by muted, more sensible Snow White and Graphite designs.

SILVER, Apple. SILVER. I wanted it in NEUTRAL SILVER, which doesn't scratch as much as whatever shade of dark du jour and goes great with everything, not in beige. It might look fine on its own but it just can't replace the most popular model, which garnered that distinction for a reason, while the M1 iMac and all MacBooks are, DUH, still offered in regular silver anodised aluminium.

Every single Apple product since those G3s was offered in neutral (in every sense: colour-neutral, gender-neutral, etc.) configurations, and more often than not (especially when it came to wearable and pocketable products), in TWO of them, a dark and a light one. The G3 iMac. The G4 iMacs. The G5 iMacs. The PowerMacs. The iBooks. The PowerBooks. The iPods. The Intel iMacs. The MacBooks. The MacBook Pros. The MacBook Airs. The Mac Pros. The iPhones. The iPod Touches. The iPads. And yes, THE APPLE WATCHES, *all of them* for six generations straight.

What the hell is going on in that company at the moment? It feels as if they have different divisions making wildly different aesthetic decisions, i.e. a veritable, Samsung-like disjointed mess.

Not really. The price of an Apple Watch pales in comparison to a good traditional watch. And I love my Apple Watch.

You’re telling me the average person wears a watch worth more than $400 to a job interview? It’s unreasonable to expect the watch and watch band color to match on a watch costing $400 or less?

1st statement is true but overstated. 2nd statement is wrong. Not that Apple of the last 20 years had a lot of colors, especially not the last 10 years under Jony Ive and no Steve Jobs. But the space gray wasn't always exactly the same between the iPads and the iPhones and the MBPs.
Second statement was more referring to the overall state of Apple, not specifically the colors. Too many product lines, buggy software, weak updates, high prices.

Why should they be available at all price points? The most popular colors should cost more since they will have a higher demand. That's how free market systems work. You compromise on the low end and get to be picky on the high end.
Bring back Apple Watch Edition ($10k) but with true silver and space grey instead of 18K gold coating. Let go!!!!

Buy the strap on eBay cheap as I never buy Apple genuine straps as their way overpriced and you can buy the same thing on eBay at a fraction of the cost. Apple just want to rip you off with their accessories to make their billions of dollars they do.
On a side note, my apple branded woven nylon band does breakdown slower than third Party woven nylon bands after being used for 3 years. Go figure.

I don't understand why Apple stopped the Black SS. It's classic and the depth to the Black SS is impressive.
I agree to a point about colors. I think the new green is fantastic and the midnight is pretty good as well. As to the other colors... meh. Same goes for the iphone Pro line. The colors are average, not horrible, just average.
