Not sure how midnight can be described as navy blue. Looks the same as space gray to me.

Is midnight a black or a navy? I'm torn between midnight and blue.

Still trying to figure out what color midnight is. Seems like it has a blue tint to it?

This is exactly how I felt when I ordered this morning. I got the 45mm Nike+ Midnight with the Black/Anthracite Sports Band. It looks like it is basically a space gray with a slight blue hue to it (kinda like my iPhone 11 Pro Max looks grey except at certain angles where the green shows).... If they had Space Gray, I would have ordered that for sure. My other bands are a black/grey nylon buckle and a third-party black stainless steel link. I am a little concerned how the black stainless steel link band is going to look, but it never quite matched the space gray anyway.

If I think the watch is too blue when it gets here next week then I am just going to return it and stick with my Series 4 another year. My concern is that next year the colors won't be any better -- just different. My wife has been waiting for the return of "Rose Gold" since the Series 2 -- she feels the new Gold is too yellow-gold for her -- and she probably would have liked a "Pink" if they had done it for the Apple Watch (it would have probably sold much better than "Green").

I feel that the Silver and Space Gray colors should be constants every year -- maybe even gold. It's fine to experiment with other colors, but its annoying when they get rid of the traditional ones.

Dang, lots of uppity people in here about “first world problems”. All of us multiple apple product owners been knew, so join the party and whine away at the smallest imperfections in our multiple hundred and thousand dollar electronics.

Color matters, people. No matter how much you roll their eyes and think you’re above it all, it matters—even to you, yes you!—just maybe not in this case.

The colors in general this year have been a mess with Apple. The only color I liked was the orange iMac, and the blue iPhone 13 Pro Max.

I feel like the rest of the colors are meh and massively mismatched. I did order the blue watch though although stainless was my first preference, I just can't justify it.
I feel the same. Apple has usually had at least one or two colours I like, but this year they're missing across the board. It's annoying as this was the year I planned up upgrade my phone, watch, and laptop. At least I can put a case on my phone, but I'm going to have to go for a Series 6 watch or settle for a colour I don't really like, and I'm terrified about what they might do with the laptops (especially since I'm thinking of getting the next Air rather than a Pro).

Having no neutral colors in the midrange models of the line seems like a big oversight, not a picky thing.
I see two possibilities: 1. Apple wants to only allow the biggest spenders to get the most popular colors: black and silver/white.
Or 2. Apple is completely rudderless.

I feel the exact same way. Either there was some questionable ethical intent, or no one is steering the ship. Maybe a combo of the two?

A "glass half empty" headline. Where are all the tweets from customers that are happy with the watch colors?

It's honestly pretty simple. If you're going to make a watch, it should come on black, silver or gold. Make as many other cool colors as you want but if it is a watch, don't F with black, silver, or gold. How did Apple mess this up? Do you have any idea how many people walk into the store and say "I always get the silver/gold one". This year we'll have to stop them and say "Actually there is no gold or silver, sorry."

That's like trying to figure out what men's deodarants smell like just looking at the names, ie; Cool Wave, Sport Triumph, Clean Comfort or Ocean Blast. WTF are those supposed to smell like? Women have it easier: Lavender, Coconut, Vanilla, etc.

Also, most mens deodarant scents should just be named as 'Old Man' anyway.

I mean, Apple is this great marketing genius, right? It’s hard to imagine that the removal of the black and white from the cheapest options was anything but a calculated move to separate the plebes from the biggest spenders (comparing Apple buyers, of course…), and inspire people to spend more money on the popular color options.

But, it’s also easy to imagine that they really thought people would be stoked on the colors this year. “Ooh! A dark blue! Pretty!”, and to separate them from the series 6 last year. Ultimately series 7 isn’t a huge upgrade anyways, so Apple might just think that people can still get there series 6 from places of people want those colors.

And easy to imagine that Apple doesn’t have a designer at the helm anymore, and overlooked that the only bands they offer that look good with the Midnight are blue hued ones. (The black band even looks a little iffy paired with the midnight).

I'm curious to see if the black and silver return for series 8.

Of course they’ll steer them towards true stainless steel options 🤣

None of the blue bands really match the blue Apple Watch. I wish they had a deep navy case.

That was my only complaint. I would have liked the braided solo loop I was just afraid I’d get the wrong size. The 2 tone colors don’t really look the best especially with blue but I may end up liking it better once I see it in person

Can I mention here that the Nike edition watch bad with the Nike bands? Look at these two basic options for black and white band. Blech. I’m glad I got series 6 last year.
