Finally found someone else with this problem on their Explorer 2020 ST. I got the smaller phone hoping to take advantage of wireless charging (11 Max wouldn’t fit with a case on). My 12 Pro only charges without a case. With a case on, it stops charging every few seconds and pops up an alert on the head unit. Sometimes repositioned works for another few seconds. Have you gotten a chance to test with iOS 14.2? I’ve been out of town and unable to tests. Thanks!I have not had an issue with my no-name clock radio/charger, but lots of issues with the in-car charger in our 2020 Ford Explorer ST. My XR, in a case, worked perfectly since we got the car several months ago. But the 12, with a case, would start then stop and the car would indicate there was an alignment problem. It did seem to work OK when I tried it without a case, so I'm hoping this software update will solve the problem.

I can confirm that iOS 14.2 does NOT fix wireless charging in the Ford Explorer.I have not had an issue with my no-name clock radio/charger, but lots of issues with the in-car charger in our 2020 Ford Explorer ST. Update. It did not solve the issue. I’ve gotten to the point with this thing that I am requesting my money back.Good thing I only charge overnight. But the whole time I’ve had the thing if more then one phone is on it they both start and stop charging repeatedly and chime all night. I’m hoping the update resolved that issue
no,, we're expecting it to just work right..You're expecting it to just work wrong.
Yes, I've tried it with 14.2 and it's only a little better. If I place it with the cameras in the upper right, then slide it all the way to the left, it stays connected better. Obviously it's something to do with alignment with the Ford pad. I'm waiting on a blue Apple silicone case and am hoping that will help. My previous XR worked like a charm and was not fussy at all about where it laid on the pad!!Finally found someone else with this problem on their Explorer 2020 ST. Hopefully you have better luck than I did. The Apple blue silicone case made it way worse; same with the clear mag safe case. It works better without any case (I’ve never gone caseless for very long). I ordered a clear wrap, hopefully for some level of shock absorption.Yes, I've tried it with 14.2 and it's only a little better. Not sure which would be worse. That or they didn’t consider testing compatibility with other chargers when designing the mag safe hardware.Just got my 12 Pro Max today and it won't wirelessly charge using the three wireless chargers I have which have been fine with my XS Max and wife's X. An Apple ploy to make everyone buy a Magsafe charger?
I'm pretty sure I know what the issue is... because I'm having this problem with some of my chargers but not others. The chargers that support fast charging at 7.5W do not work, and the chargers that charge at 5W do work. To me, this means that the logic Apple is employing to slow down the charging speed for non-Mag Safe chargers to 5W is not working properly.Actually, no, it doesn’t fix these issues.
I’ve had 14.2 beta for a while and I has not fixed any of my issues.
Same .. I have a logitech wireless charging stand and it will not charge my 12 pro max .. sucksJust got my 12 Pro Max today and it won't wirelessly charge using the three wireless chargers I have which have been fine with my XS Max and wife's X. An Apple ploy to make everyone buy a Magsafe charger?
So you’re thinking is that on the 12’s Apple wants Qi chargers to all charge at 5 watts even if they’re capable of 7.5 watts? Did they mention this or is it stated somewhere? That is a fairly big detail to not disclose on their part, if so.I'm pretty sure I know what the issue is... because I'm having this problem with some of my chargers but not others. Makes sense, right? Let's hope they can patch it.
I’m beyond annoyed at this point. Spend all that money on a 12 pro max and none of my wireless chargers are working.
Some Qi-based wireless chargers don't appear to be working with the iPhone 12 models, perhaps due to the magnets inside of the new devices, alignment issues, or other internal changes to wireless charging protocols.

Apple's iPhone models have been using Qi wireless charging since the launch of the iPhone X and iPhone 8 in 2017, so many people have existing wireless chargers on hand from prior iPhone generations. Unfortunately, some of those wireless chargers do not appear to be working properly with the iPhone 12 at this time.
There are complaints about non-functional wireless chargers from multiple new iPhone 12 owners on both Reddit and the MacRumors forums. Affected chargers work with older iPhones, but will not charge the iPhone 12 models, which is something to be aware of if you have a new iPhone 12 or are planning a purchase.
The MacRumors forums has a list of chargers that don't appear to be working with the iPhone 12 such as the Zens Liberty Wireless Charger, the Mophie Charge Stream Pad+, the Nomad Base Station Stand, and the Mophie 3-in-1 wireless charging stand. There are also complaints about some Anker wireless chargers.
Nomad's Base Station Pro with Aira wireless charging technology was previously on the list, but just this week Nomad released a firmware update that should address the problem. Unfortunately, most wireless chargers can't get firmware updates like the Base Station Pro, and it's not clear if there's a software fix on the way from Apple.
Some users have had luck getting a wireless charger to work after restarting a device or attempting to change the positioning of the phone on the charger, but in most cases, the affected wireless chargers simply don't charge the iPhone 12 models. This is a problem that seems to be limited to a small number of chargers and most appear to be working.
Update 10:15 a.m.: Apple has just released iOS 14.2 which includes a mention of a fix for an issue in which "devices could be prevented from charging wirelessly." Presumably, this should fix many of the previous issues, while other tweaks by charger vendors such as Nomad's Base Station Pro firmware update may also help. Not all chargers are able to have their firmware updated by users, however.

I’m in 14.2 and still non of my chargers workI wish this comment made it to MR editors before they posted this article. Hopefully they update this article to prevent misinformation/confusion.
EDIT: Looks like they updated the post to reflect this. I suppose many folks may not update to 14.2 before facing this issue, so hopefully this helps info helps them.
