It’s not only battery banks. I’m having the same problem with an Anker USB-C PD AC adapter. Constant disconnect/reconnect loop when trying to charge an iPhone 15 Pro but works totally fine with a MacBook Air, a MacBook Pro, and an iPad Pro.

Oh god, I have that Anker battery. This sort of sucks. I don’t mind buying another one (actually yes I do), but I’m concerned about those times when I’m out and about and desperately need a charge. Now I can’t just use any power bank.
I have it too and 2 of us have already said it works just fine for us....

Yikes: widespread complaints of device temperature, usb c failing, hearing in other forums of a drop from a pocket onto a sidewalk and the titanium not being as strong as it could be…..sounds like 16 will be a godsend for 15 users 🪽🕊️ 🙌🏾…so glad I got 14 pro max when I did, sure it’s a lil heavy, but we’ll survive!

Looking forward to the 18 or 19 pro max ultra ultimate put the the smack down slap your mother in the face with a balloon full of orange juice! That one will prob have face scan beneath the glass and finger print power button by then!

I wonder if this effects some chargers, too. I have an Anker 525 (the thing that is a small power strip with 3 AC plugs on the back and 2 usba 2 usbc on the front) and my 15pro would keep chiming through the night when plugged into it via usbc, as if it kept disconnecting and reconnecting. I had to switch to something else. The phone hasn't had issues with any other charger.
In my experience (without an iPhone 15) these types of Anker power strips tend to provide inconsistent power through the USB ports. My Apple Watch would randomly stop charging in the middle of the night when plugged directly into the USB ports, and I tried to plug a clock into the USB-A and it would lose power and reset every time a device plugged directly into the USB ports was taken on or off charge

EU: “You must switch to USB-C”
Apple: “Ok”

“Here, hold my beer” lol

I ordered the 15 Pro Max but I might cancel it, if more problems arise.

Just get a 14 pm and call it a day! 😮‍💨

That isn't very user-friendly.

Just as I thought and others have posted, there should be a highly secure pop up menu with options once anything plugs in. Maybe Apple doesn’t want to open that can of worms?…

Nice one, Tim

lol timmmmyyyyy. Yeah that is funny. Sorry Tim, it’s just jokes no offense! Haha
would be hilarious if someone thought they are charging the phone, but turns out the phone is charging the powerbank.

Lol this definitely sounds like a pink panther/mr. Bean/mr. Maggoo type scenario. Espionage gone awry.

I have the Powercore Slim 10000 PD mentioned above which has the bidirectional USBC. Tested it on 15 Pro and Pro Max. Charged iPhone correctly and not over way around.

Whew. My 30,000 mAh 100W power bank from AOHI works just fine. I waited a bit to confirm that it was actually charging and it went from 33% to 40% fairly quickly.

I want this feature in general for all devices.

Sometimes I daisy-chain from wall wart to my MacBook Air to my iPad Pro. If the power goes out (such as if the wall wart gets knocked off the wall), the MacBook will continue to sacrifice its battery to the iPad. If anything I’d want it to be the other way around.

Sure, go ahead and have some sort of “smart” default.

But then give me an option, on each device, for each port, to specify if I want it to draw power and / or supply power — and, for that matter, whether I want it to communicate data. Ideally, with some thresholds — such as, only supply power to such-and-such a device, and only if there’s at least 70% battery left. And when to do pass-through, etc.

It’s a guarantee that no algorithm is going to know what I actually want to do.

Very true… that’s a scenario I would face sometimes.
I think the current logic is that the bigger battery charges the smaller one, but I could be wrong.

It is not that iphone 15 is invompatable, it is the charger chip not knowing how to charge it because ip15 eont fomunicate whqt it can max have for charging, that is fault of ip15 not powerbank, let me explain a little i have 2 power banks anker 737 and powercore iii elite 26k,

This is based on my experience of anker ever frost, i don't have ip15 yet it is still pre-order

On 737 the 100w witch is in/out port i can not charge everfrost, i have to use the 2nd usb-c port 65w out only it works fine,

On powercore there is a little trick when using usb-c,
Both usb-c are in/out,
when i connect cable first to ever frost usb-c then to powercore it charge powercore, when i connect the cable first to powercore then to ever frost using same ports it charge the ever frost,

and i think people just don't know how gan and iq3 chargers works,

I think it is same case on ip15 can not say for sure it is a test i can not perform yet,

So you buy a power bank to charge your iPhone and you end up charging the power bank with your iPhone?

It is clearly a software issue and Apple is again showing us how many idiots are working in the software department nowadays.

No it is user error , look usb-c is 2 way technology, if one use it wrong then it act wrong, because it have to switch same as a switch on your wall for your light, if both devices want to for example want to give power you have to trigger a digital switch, like i explained earlyer, and i have a feeling ip15 acts the aame because apple is new to usb-c witch is backwards compatible to power usb-c devices, and that is normal, like my one plus 8t it dont charge faster than 10w because it don't comunicate with my 737, while it is a 65w phone my one plus ace is 140w it also dont comunicate,

I literally just ordered this.
is this the model they are talking about? (it doesn't say "PD" in the title). But it has input/output USBC ports.
You think I should return without even opening it or try it?
You can simply use the usb-a port with a older usb-a to usb-c cable im sure you have one lying arround, iphones don't reach 30w anyway so don't fuzz on the usb-c pd port, that is just wierd trying to charge your phone fast if it can't go fast, usb-a is otg so it have to charge, usb-c is reversable,

Away from a power outlet and need to charge your iPhone, other iPad, Apple Watch, or third-party USB device? Just connect the right cable or adapter to your iPad to share its long-lasting battery with your other devices:
  • To charge your iPhone or earlier-model iPad that has a Lightning port, connect it to your iPad using the Apple USB-C to Lightning Cable (1 m). If you have a Lightning to USB cable, you can combine it with the Apple USB-C to USB Adapter, then connect the adapter to your iPad.
  • If you have two iPad models with USB-C ports, you can connect them directly with a USB-C cable. One iPad will draw power from the other. If you want to change which iPad charges, unplug the USB-C cable and then reconnect them.
  • Charge your Apple Watch by connecting its Magnetic Charging Cable to your iPad via the Apple USB-C to USB Adapter. If you have an Apple Watch Magnetic Fast Charger to USB-C Cable, you can connect it directly to your iPad.
My battery is still 100% health with max fast charging, my trick is , the old classic laptop way, stay between 20-80% , calbirate once in the 3 months the battery, many people just use their devices wrong and then blame the devices ,

It looks like the Anker nano power bank seems to be charging the 15PM - just tried it. Just as a datapoint.

Edit: This is the one that I tried:
I would rather buy a anker magsafe so i can slap it on the back dont afraid it break port and i can even safely put it in my pocket, and ita equal priced

Nice to know but dont use 100w port use the 65w one that is smarter for iphones , you can use the 100w for charger like what i do i use it as ups, this is ip14 pro max i use it on

The 737 will smart charge on both usb-c ports. I’ve tried them both with a phone that is at 7% battery life. 15ProMax

It will max at 20w when battery is below around 30-40% and there on out it will max at about 10w.

Apple: "If you want to change which iPad charges, unplug the USB-C cable and then reconnect them."

It will be the same on the iPhone to reverse charging direction. Not exactly intuitive, but it's as designed for some time.
