Fact: apple has zero preinstalled AR apps, all of them are iPad apps with VR features.
The Dinosaurs and Meditation apps are AR I believe, but yes, overall the offering looks pretty slim with regard to AR-specific use cases.

Love your passion! Not wanting me to be right unfortunately doesn’t make me wrong.

Guess you missed the memo that YouTube, Netflix, Spotify etc have all blocked Apple from using their iPad apps! 🤣 They are actively going NO.

To be fair though it didn’t make the news on MacRumors, I suspect judging by the delusional responses to my post, it will send many into a tailspin.
It didn't?

Apple’s VR is dead on arrival.

This is a result of Apple’s poor relationship with app developers and competitors.

As we have now seen all the major companies Apple desperately needs are not only not developing for Vision Pro but are yanking their iPad versions from being compatible too.

I suspect their behaviour with the 27% third party app store fee this week has been the straw that broke the camels back.

Downvote me all you want but these are facts… they have no interest at all supporting Apple’s entry into another new category and continuing their market dominance and for once Apple needs them more than they need Apple.

Apple are screwed.
Vision Pro is dead on arrival.

Save this post and look at it again in two years time, then give me kudos
Way to be postive

This is pure hyperbole. All you know is they haven’t yet released apps. As for the iPad version, YouTube simply may not like how that app translates on the AVP.

I see some comments in the form of “let’s wait to the developers to jump in”. Is not a question of time. They will jump in only if Vision Pro is a success in terms of sales. No developer will expend time developing for a device that only a minority have, and given the price point, it’s a minority device by design. Having to maintain an additional version of the app for another device is really costly. Until the device is mainstream (which implies affordable) i would not expect a big catalog of 3rd party apps.

lol this thread is dead on arrival. RIP OP

Imagine thinking developers are going to shy away from a cash cow created by a company with a proven track record. Give it some time. Particularly once the cheaper model comes out, it's game over for your argument.
Apple's track record with developers is 100% positive, at least when we ignore all the failures. Like the HomePod, which didn't receive a Spotify app even after its cheaper version came out. I'd also consider the watchOS App Store a failure. The Mac App Store as well, but at least we can "sideload".

The idea of the product is dead, nothing with the fact that just because a product is sold out, doesn’t mean that the products is a finalized item. Don’t be intentionally thick

😂 Brilliant! @codeunrwolfpack simultaneously wins the internet and pwns troll. 😂
Whilst I think the original poster is completely wrong, it doesn't change the fact that this is absolutely not sold out. Delivery dates for direct shipping are still showing as March 4th-11th (same week that they've been quoting since just a few hours after pre-orders opened up), and multiple Apple Store have pick-up availability for Feb 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th...

This hasn't come close to selling out, which I'm hoping is a good thing, and an indication that supply is not as constrained as we were led to believe.

For whatever reason the Apple Vision Pro has created many enemies, an according to Marques Brownlee (four time tester no less) after five minutes of use it feels like you're wearing an anvil on you head, which does make me wonder why no one at Apple would have noticed this. My uninformed take, this is probably the nascent future of computing.
I listened to that today. He may be right. But I also saw this from 9to5mac

Whilst tables like that help somewhat, what is just as important as the weight of the device is its center of gravity. I'd rather have a slightly heavier device whose center of gravity was close to my face, than a slightly lighter one whose center of gravity was further away. The one thing you don't want, is a heavy device with a center of gravity further out from your head.

You couldn’t be more right. Balance is everything.

It was interesting to see that other devices are in the same ball park, one way or the other.

One of the interesting things is that if you watch long term reviews of the Quest 3, people find the device to be more comfortable with a battery head strap that actually adds quite a bit of weight (but of course, at the back of the head).

Just reading up on these, and one of the highly recommended ones costs $55, has two 8000mAh batteries, and adds 4 hours of battery life to the device. It weighs 950g (!), and yet makes the headset more comfortable to wear for long periods.

I doubt it will be long before someone comes up with similar options for the AVP, and then maybe Marques will stop complaining ;)

OP will still hangs on his opinion even if the Vision Pro by itself will be an 300 fortune thing, its call living in "denial"

That's not a good measure. It's so typical, if Apple had 2 million ready for launch and sold 1 million people would go "it's a failure, nobody wants it". But 100 thousand immediately sell out, "it's a success, it's sold out". It might yet be a success, it might yet be a failure. Selling out a small initial volume doesn't prove anything either way.

We dont know how many were sold day one. We also know that AVP is in one country only so far.

i really don't see this main stream in its current form. until its just a pair of glasses and integeral battery. if like me you live in a hot climate QLD Australia it would be way to hot and uncomfortable.

The unfortunate, painful reality is that Apple Vision Pro is a meme by design, more so than Apple's hostile relationship with developers.

You'll look ridiculous wearing it in public. Battery life lasts 2 hours. It's heavy and cumbersome. Your SO will break up with you if you converse with them with it on.

The only way I can see it being successful is if it is light and elegant, like a pair of glasses. Unfortunately it is impossible to engineer electronics so small to deliver their wanted feature set.

You can't possibly convince me this is how people will use Apple Vision Pro. It's ridiculous.
Agreed. There’s a fundamental human awkwardness to this product that is, I believe, insurmountable.

Apple products have always had a “cool” factor to them, even the Watch. This is the antithesis of “cool”.

We will not know if the product is dead on the arrival. It is a pretty new product so it will take a while to judge if it succeeds. Keep calm, observe the trend how the product is adopted, be patience to judge and be happy 😊 Life is too short to be unhappy on anything 😊
As a huge Apple fan for over half of my life (I’m 33), this is the first major product from them that I am not only not interested in, but feel that is fundamentally misguided.

I don’t want to live in a world where I walk into a room and half of the people are wearing this. It’s fine when you’re alone, but products that truly change our lives are capable of being used around other people. That’s life.

This is misguided.

I’m not sure this is the main use case. I think initially, people will play with it like this, but given you can’t have multiple log-ins (at this stage), and like others, I think it’ll be a business tool more than an entertainment device.

That’s fair. I’m obviously gonna be watching the story of AVP unfold.

I also feel like Apple at this stage having a legit disappointment on their hands could do a lot to drive more innovation within the company.

AVP being a bit of a let-down could be just what they need right now.
