I think we can agree that the umps made bad calls this whole series for both teams.

yes, I do agree that there have been some very bad calls this series going both ways. I just don't think the the a-rod play at first was one of those bad calls.

Still cant get over it. What a game. I have to admit, I wasnt convinced sox would win till the last out was made.

Looks like D Lowe goes tonight, I think hes gonna make the most of it, could be his last opportunity to show the other teams what hes got left, and justify a big $$$ contract for next yr.

He'll be backed up by wakefield... I love wakefield, but who cant remember last yr's game 7... damn.

I cant imagine either team starting the world series sat night with ones days rest...?

Curse is broken - sox world series.

I still think that Doug Mientkiewicz was in the way as that picture shows. So if interference was never called was the runner impeded?

It's called covering the bag. You know, since he's the first baseman and all? Of course he's at the bag. Once he sees Arroyo making the play, it doesn't matter what the hell he's doing, cuz A-Rod gets tagged before he gets there.

Break out the riot gear- Sox are rolling through the Bronx. Nice fans you have over there- they're about as mature and classy as Jeter. Better watch it or they'll force a forfeit.

let's pray that st. louis hangs a big one on houston so that they'll have even less rest.

whoever wins the AL tonight will get two days rest before the series starts on saturday. assuming it won't be another 15 inning madness (probably not a safe assumption :D), both yankees and sox will have their best starter available on regular 4-day rest to start game #1. (mussina or pedro)

if houston can't win tonight, their best starter (clemens) will be have to pitch game 7.

i don't agree that NL will kill AL. houston has a better chance to win the world series (especially if they can win tonight) because they have bona fide aces - clemens and oswalt. st. louis starters don't match up nearly as well with sox's front two (i'll take injured schilling any day over jason maquis) and probably evenly with yankees. hitting wise, walker-pujols-rolen is no better than a-rod-sheffield-matsui...

the big difference is the relievers, i think. yankees pen is, though struggling a bit in this series, still very formidable, esp. with stutze coming into his own. sox pen has proven themselves quite capable in this series. on the other hand, houston has no relievers - if they can't get a lead to lidge, it's over - and st. louis has a mediocre one, esp. with klein and tavarez out. (did he pull a kevin-brown on us?)

i think it's going to be an exciting world series, but not sure if it will be as exciting as the ALCS...

personally, i'm calling for a blowout tonight. now sure in which team's favor, but i personally can't take another nail biter!

(i swear i thought clark would hit one out from foulke. i couldn't breath until foulke put that pitch past him!)

What an awesome series!

Being an O's fan, I obviously haven't had a whole lot to be excited about in the past decade. The recent Yankees-Red Sox rivalry rises above the "root for the home team" mentality, and reminds me why I love baseball. It's like Ali-Frazier every night.
What Boston has achieved, being down 3-0 and getting to game 7, is unprecedented. They are to be admired for never giving up, and for fighting through the stigma of the alleged Curse to get this far, basically on fumes.

Darn shame they won't make it to the Series. Much as I'd love to see Boston win it all, and as much as I hate ther freakin' Yankees, Boston goes down tonight. I'll be rooting for the Sox all the way, but I expect to be disappointed tonight.

A-Rod was in the wrong, but it was most likely instinctive and not calculated. Give the umps credit for making a correct and very tough call in a potentially hostile environment.
Give the Yankee fans credit, too. Most acted with class, only a few went too far by throwing things on the field. Where would that have been any different? Not here.

Go Astros!

OK- what's up with the dart I keep hearing about? Somebody in the stands with a blow gun?

Red Sox go to the World series...

I'll be dumb enough to say it first (at least here) if it hasn't been said. The curse will be broken tonight. They have played so hard the last 3 games to just throw it all away. It will be a game to remember!!!

Go Red Sox!!!

PS. I hate the yankees and love the braves. even dough they suck big time when they want. :)

I'll give the Red Sox one thing...

They're great cheaters.

I love when people get riled up over other's comments...lol

You must not own a television.

Oh, guys...I'm just teasing you simply because I knew you would all respond like that. Just in plain fun, that's all.

Now, who's ready for the game tonight...?

So nobody knows anything about the dart thing? What's the deal with that? Nothing?

From the MLB Umpire Manual, a casebook that guides their decisions: Section 6.1 (Offensive Interference):

While contact may occur between a fielder and runner during a tag attempt, a runner is not allowed to use his hands or arms to commit an obviously malicious or unsportsmanlike act such as grabbing, tackling, intentionally slapping at the baseball, punching, kicking, flagrantly using his arms or forearms, etc. to commit an intentional act of interference unrelated to running the bases.

I almost got physically sick watching foulke pitch to clark... so did my yankee loving roommate (the curse breaker) for that matter.

Tonights gonna be tough... I'm emotionally & physically drained...

They're talking about a dart being shot onto the field by someone in the stands. When the police initially were summoned there was apparently a specific incident with a fan who possibly had a blowgun. They're keeping it pretty hush hush.

Well I wouldn't have thought a fan would jump out of the stands and tackle an umpire either, but I've seen it. I'm not making it up, I've just been hearing it on the radio- trying to find more info on what the deal is, and if it is true or not.

If you don't know the truth, you can't call it an urban legend.

"Need the info, scott."

That would explain why they pulled the police back off the field for the bottom of the ninth, which I thought seemed odd at the time. I mean, any disgruntled fans were more likely to target the umpires and Sox than the Yankees, so why pull the police when only the Sox and umps were in the field?

A-Rod play

From ESPN's web site, RE the Rodriguez play:

"I know that line belongs to me and he was coming at me," he said. "Once I reached out and tried to knock the ball, the call went against me. I should have just run over him."

Crew chief Randy Marsh, who was the first-base umpire, said he was screened by first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz and that plate umpire Joe West had the best view.

"I did not see Alex wave at him and knock the ball out," Marsh said.

"That's against the rules," Millar said. "If you want to play football, strap on some pads and go play for the Green Bay Packers."

Not taking sides, just FYI.

This is great baseball!
