This will 100% come out next year. Whenever I decide to buy an Apple Product, the one I really want (in this case a bigger Watch) comes out the next year.Heck, I'd like to see an even bigger one like a 48mm size.

If the 38mm looks and feels better, I'd keep it. I started with a 38mm link and after 6 months, thought a 42mm would be better for the bigger screen and battery. After a year of using it, I moved back to the 38mm link in SB for the same reasons as you and couldn't be happier. Feels nicer and looks better (to me). I've got smaller wrists (170mm) but have also seen others with your wrist size happier with the 38mm as well. I agree with you, the SB model does look a bit bigger than the regular SS. It's really up to you in the end, but getting the link is also a nice perk. It's an amazing band.Well, here's a crazy one...
With all the great deals on original gen SSSB watches out there, I have ended up with two and trying to decide whether to just keep one and sell the other or keep both. Leaning toward selling one since having two is a little bit overkill and the $$$ would come in handy. One is a 42mm with black sport band and I bough the woven nylon band in black and it is fantastic. The other is a 38mm with black link bracelet and is the sharpest watch I've ever seen. I had been wearing a silver Sport since release day in 42mm so I was well familiar with that size.
I'm a guy, decent build, 5'11" 190mm wrists. I keep reading where people jump to the 42mm quickly but honestly, the 38mm just looks and seems more symmetrical and fits better. I agree the 42mm gives a little more screen size but honestly, it's pretty minimal but the larger model, especially in black, looks huge on the wrist. I actually get more compliments on the 38mm when I wear it either to see clients or in the gym.
I guess my question is whether anyone else has bounced back and forth between sizes and moved to the 38mm from 42mm long term. Also, who thinks it would be perfect if Apple made a 40mm? That would nail the size/functionality thing for me in an instant!

I think I'll be picking up a Space Black to replace my current Nike Apple Watch. The extra $ is worth the stainless steel and the more scratch resistant glass. I've already scratched and chipped my Nike watch.
Thank you for your reply. The link is a fantastic piece of engineering and I will probably get a woven nylon or sport band for daily wear and the gym and save the wear and tear on the link to use on more dressy occasions.
the 38 just 'fits' so much better when working out or just everything in general. I have read where others have had issues touching the buttons/numbers/etc on the 38 but I have had zero trouble with that and my hands are fairly large too. As a business person, the 38 carries more of a professional look over the sporty look of the 42, so that is something else to consider.
They are both excellent devices and it is great to get the choice from Apple of either size.

Interesting. I had previously owned two Sport models and had problems with both of them flocking off the finish. The silver one I had flaked off all over the back around the etched lettering and the Space Gray I had after that came out of the box with chips already gone around the edge of the screen. I returned it for an exchange and within a week it too started flaking off. That is primarily what prompted me to upgrade to the SSSB with the better case and finish. I read online where lots of people are having this problem with their Sport models, especially the Space Gray.
That is EXACTLY the same as the Space Gray models I had. Like I said, one ut of the box had the chips at the right top corner and bottom left and being on that little flat area next to the screen, there is no way to bang it there without causing more surrounding damage. Im thinking Apple has a problem with their anodizing process and it shows up worse on these darker models.I've already chipped it around the edges on the top side, both left and right. No to take away from this thread, but I've uploaded some picture to help those on the fence between the Space Gray and SS Space Black.
Reading this thread has helped me go with Space Black. Seeing that model with ocean blue band, so nice!
Of course it looks black. What else do you think it looks like? Even in sunlight it looks black.
I explained above, not really much to it. It's just super glossy/reflective. So much so that it appears quite a bit lighter in real-world usage (more gray than black). I am just stating I'd rather have a matte black finish (does not exist) than a matte space gray (aluminum) or a black stainless steel.

I've joined the club guys! Apple delivery was 9-13 December, John Lewis had them collect the next day... I obviously cancelled my Apple order, ordered from John Lewis and had it on my wrist last night.
To be honest I was really struggling yesterday before picking it up deciding if the space black would be the right choice over the standard stainless steel, but as soon as I had it under natural light on my wrist there is no going back! Love the way the body just blends into the screen and how the text just seems to float on this magical black onyx on my wrist.![]()
Awesome. Mine will be here this coming. Wednesday. Looking forward to it.

Looks much nicer in real life, rather than under the harsh Apple Store lighting.
I was going to get the Space Gray Aluminium as a daily watch to accompany my Standard SS S2 but in the end i went for the Space Black SS S2 over the aluminium as a daily work horse and i am glad i did. It looks really sharp with back and white sports bands and goes well with the brown classic leather buckle.I've joined the club guys! I dont think its as fancy as my standard SS but it wont chip or mark like the aluminium does
Space Black with Cloud band, as requested. Along with my current go-to combos; Edition+Nike and Stainless with Apple Pride band
Struggling with this decision for a while. Had my heart set on silver SS, but couldn't pass a black SS one up at $500 and no tax. I'm psyched as I;ve changed my thoughts on its use. I can't see it replacing my Rolex or any other dress watch, so it seems better to just give in and use it as a casual walk around and/or sports watch. Anyone else pair a white band with the black SS? I've seen pics and it looks very nice with the contrast.

Wow I just love the white band on the black SS!
I wear my apple watches all the time but for formal dinner i still rock my Rolex Submariner
Yeah i wore my black SS with the white sport band on Friday and it looked sharp. I wore it with a fake nike white/grey band on thursday and that looked really good.
You can get them pretty cheap on eBay:PS anyone selling a white OEM sport band?
Well, here's a crazy one...
