I'm curious to know what Apple's solution to in car GPS will be. I use my iPhone 6 often in my car with Google Maps. Works very nicely, but the huge battery drain of GPS means it must be plugged into power at all times via lightning. The audio is then routed through the headphone jack to the aux in on my car's stereo. This won't be possible on the iPhone "7" as it only has a single output - power or audio, you can't have both.

No problem... you just buy a new car.

Have good headphones terminating with 3.5mm? No problem... you just buy new headphones.

Have a Mac or Macs without a Lightning port? No problem... you just buy new Macs.

Spending lots of money for no real net gain in audio playback solves all such problems.;)

They have to introduce wireless charging in this model. I don't see how they can't if they are removing the audio jack. I have BT headphones but if for some reason they go dead and I'm on a flight I'd lose my mind if I'd had to choose between charging and listening to engine noise and crying babies.

Part of the reason corded headphones are still superior to wireless ones. The other part is they typically sound better than wireless of the same price point.

I'd love to see inductive charging introduced on the iPhone but I don't see how that helps you. How do you listen to your BT 'phones and charge them simulataneously?

If Apple want to charge £150 for an increase from 32GB to 128GB in the UK, I'll stick with 32GB, which will be much lower than my current 64GB.

I'll just continue to pay 79p a month for 50GB iCloud storage instead and make better use of my £20 unlimited 4G data plan on Three UK.

I'll also remove apps that I never use and only keep my 5* songs on my iPhone.

Simples.

If this is the case, then does that mean the 256GB iPhone 7 Plus will cost over £1000? It will be interesting to see what happens.

I'm seeing Twitter posts pretty much confirming lightning + adapter in the box. Then Apple can upsell you to wireless.

If that turns out to be true, then I can't see how Tim can possibly spin the loss of the 3.5 port on stage as a good thing. Its been a while since there was booing at an Apple keynote...

How often do you charge your phone and use headphones? I don't think I've ever once needed both of those ports at the same time.

All the time. I use my iPhone at work to listen to music / podcasts while plugged in.

If Apple had a good reason to drop the port, it would be one thing. But to make the phone thinner? Who is complaining about how thick the phone is??? So instead, people will have to compromise how they use the phone to take off a mm or two. This is not innovation.

And for the people asking what they will call it, it will be the iPhone 7. Simply because you will sell more iPhone 7 phones than iPhone 6SE phones, even if they are identical. Because 7 is bigger than 6.

Don't you think the text is too wide? Comparing to the back of my 6s Plus box this looks fake.

And do you really think Apple will call it a "Lightning to Headphone Jack" adapter?

That's become the accepted nomenclature here but really that's informal language. I would expect something more like "Lightning to 3.5mm Audio Adapter" or something.
Agreed.

Looks unApplelike to me, but the haters are willing to suspend their disbelief to support their agenda.

All you did is reply with insults. Thanks for just reinforcing the point I made in my original post. Come on - tell me how moving to lightning and deleting the headphone jack is an improvement for the average / majority users! I'm waiting to be en enlightened.

The reality is a move like this is going to create drama. The same happened when they changed the dock connector to lightning. A whole bunch of whinging nitwits carried on like 2 bob watches and for what? It achieves nothing in the end. At some point (now) Apple will transition away from OLD TECH. See I used capitals to highlight something you really cannot comprehend. Watch, I'll do it again. OLD TECH. There needs to be no other reason. Get over it, buy an adapter and move on with your life. More importantly, DON'T WHINGE or buy a Samsung or LG or whatever and be happy.

This. If there is no way to listen via wired connection and charge at the same time, I'm out. Yeah, it would be great to have a faster phone with a better camera, but at the end of the day, I would lose functionality over my iPhone 6 for no reason, other than Apple decided it such.

It's a really sad day when it seems that Samsung is the company driving innovation forward.

While I am excited about a new iPhone and happy to see everyone excited, it's unfortunate that Apple will remove the headphone jack. We all have different life styles and I for one travel long distances (24+ plus trips), and enjoy working out while I listen to music. There is just no way to keep my phone plugged in and charge on the plane, and I won't be using an adapter at the gym.. The iPhone was just turned into a pair of high heel shoes as far as I am concerned.. She looks hot but she can't go hiking with me. Big shame...not sure what I will do, as I had been expecting to get this.

I feel like an adapter will come out that will allow you to do both at the same time.

Also, I assume they will be willing Wireless AirPods, but will have Lightning EarPods in the box as well as a Lightning to 3.5MM Adapter.

Lots of adapters and dongles.. Its horrible as they get lost and break and provide unreliable connections - no thanks

Maybe we will see 32GB, 128GB and 256GB options. I really don't see a 4th at 64GB.

So in 2015 we had 16GBx4=64GB for level 2. And in 2016 we should have 32GBx4=128GB for level 2. Common multiplier is 4. Makes sense to me.

your guess is as good as this picture as well. neither can be proven until the iphone7 event. the picture does have some merit of proof. now what's your merit of proof to your claim?

Right. For me, the 6s is plenty thin enough.
People said that about the 3GS too, and it looks pretty portly in 2016:

If they keep getting thinner I suspect they will sacrifice battery endurance and capacity
Has any generation of iPhone ever had less battery endurance that the previous one?

and could find the phones bending or breaking a little easier.
Mac Rumors never gets tired of attempting to perpetuate the iPhone bending myth.

plus, I want to be able to hold on to the thing too!
I would think a thinner phone would be easier to hold because your hand could wrap that much more around the edges.

Lighting reduced the size of the connector and replaced it with something better (capable of USB 3 speeds, if Apple ever decides to support it).

Removing the 3.5mm jack is replacing it with..... an adapter to give you the same functionality that was built in? For what purpose? Maybe a slightly thinner phone?

These are not the same cases. Apple has dropped many older technologies, but replaced them with something better.

Tim is going to have to do a Jobs-like performance next week on this one. Many people who are not techies will be out, just because of the bad press.

I found the 6 to be too thin, that is how I was holding it, was such that the it was less comfortable then thicker phones.

I like how my SE feels, its dimensions are perfect for me, I hope Apple doesn't make that thinner

As I mentioned in my post, I said for me it was plenty thin enough. I have no problem holding onto the phone I have now and the points about bending/breaking and battery endurance were speculation and light wondering by me - not "MacRumors perpetuating myths."
