If Apple had gone Dock adaptor to USB-C rather than lightning, losing the headphone jack would be a lot less painful.
Actually I think it's backward. They should have kept the 3.5 jack for one more iteration but this time they should have included a nice pair of wireless headphones to show people how great they are. Eliminating the 3.5 and having only one port to charge your phone and headphones seems like a silly idea that Apple would usually shut down at the first meeting. I'm surprised they're doing this but I'll wait until the event to be blown away.
How often do you charge your phone and use headphones? I don't think I've ever once needed both of those ports at the same time.
MAybe they'll integrate it with the iphone 8? Considering the fact that 30pin connector was on 2, 3g, 3gs, 4 and 4s (so 5 ipohnes), and now after 5, 5s, 6, 6s and 7 they could go with all new standard in 8. But that's just my guess...While extremely overpriced, more storage is always good. But I still don't understand why they're not going the usb-c road. Even their MacBook has it, the new the new MBPs will probably too. Why not make everyones live easier and go with usb-c.
Other than, "Apple is stubborn", can somebody explain this? It's not like the usb-c port is huge in size compared to lightning.
"A headphone jack, a charger, a proprietary interface.
A headphone jack, a charger, a proprietary interface!
Are you getting it? These are not three separate ports!"
This is an issue to the extent that people like to have their head tethered to a wall.![]()
I think they should've kept the 3.5 as well until the iPhone 8. But including the adapter is the right thing to do, however. If one were to use Lightning port only for listening, I highly suspect they might introduce wireless charging ( already old news ) to alleviate the problem.
Otherwise, I'm thinking of getting the SE which is cheaper. I suspect the prices for the iPhone 7 may be a tad bit more expensive than last year's.
A perfect place for a dock! And a dock is much more convenient than fumbling for a cable, especially when you use it "all the time".All the time at work - I keep the phone on the charger when in the office, and listen to music when I can.
That's the most convincing evidence of no headphone jack for me - I'll take it.
As for storage the real question for me isn't max capacity but the minimum. Will they continue to cling to 16GB?
So what? Is it not still a better move than making one but forcing you to buy it separately? Some would view Apple's even making the adapter but not including it as both an acknowledgement that there is a need for AND yet another way to gouge customers for another $20.More importantly, it even mentions lightning to 3.5mm included in the box. I think it's excellent for users if Apple does include it, but I think it's a mistake for Apple as it shows there's a need for 3.5mm still and they've removed it.
Clearly one of those stupid people that think insults will make us respect them.Clearly one of those stupid people that thinks innovation = new design.
Fake, because this comma is WRONG
You're not using it wrong. You just have a use case that doesn't apply to everyone. Find an adapter that lets you continue using it the way you currently do. Most won't need that adapter.Of course, I'm using it wrong! Gosh, I need to check my Apple Usage Manual at once to make sure I conform.
it puzzles me they call it iPhone 7, when its basically same design?
Dude it's only techies that care about this crap. I can assure you, mum & dad iphone user won't give a rats ass about this change. That is their bread & butter not whinging tech heads.
Thinning the phone reduces the surface area where your phone and hand contact - and that results in a weaker grip on the device.I would think a thinner phone would be easier to hold because your hand could wrap that much more around the edges.
Nope. We've reached a point with market prices that Apple will be upping the storage on both models. The 7 - comes in 16, 64, 128
the 7 plus comes in 32, 128, 256 - MOST IMPORTANTLY - this gives Apple the opportunity to jack up the plus prices by at least $30, £20 at each level.
WHO CARES!! GIVE US MACBOOKS APPLE!!!

Neither move on Apple's part will be without criticism from those who just have to criticize everything.
Nope, because they don't plug in headphones. None besides those that come with the iPhone. This is 99% of iPhone users. I know, its a shock to the tech geek, but reality and perspective often are. When they can't plug in their headphones, they will care.

They absolutely are not including an adapter especially if the headphones are already lightning equipped. They will sell the adapter separately for ~$25.
Really? Because I see a large amount of non-stock audio devices on my daily train and bus commute. EarPods aren't uncommon, but those types of headphones do not work for a lot of people.Nope, because they don't plug in headphones. None besides those that come with the iPhone.
