Actually I think it's backward. They should have kept the 3.5 jack for one more iteration but this time they should have included a nice pair of wireless headphones to show people how great they are. Eliminating the 3.5 and having only one port to charge your phone and headphones seems like a silly idea that Apple would usually shut down at the first meeting. I'm surprised they're doing this but I'll wait until the event to be blown away.

I think they should've kept the 3.5 as well until the iPhone 8. But including the adapter is the right thing to do, however. If one were to use Lightning port only for listening, I highly suspect they might introduce wireless charging ( already old news ) to alleviate the problem.

Otherwise, I'm thinking of getting the SE which is cheaper. I suspect the prices for the iPhone 7 may be a tad bit more expensive than last year's.

While extremely overpriced, more storage is always good. But I still don't understand why they're not going the usb-c road. Even their MacBook has it, the new the new MBPs will probably too. Why not make everyones live easier and go with usb-c.

Other than, "Apple is stubborn", can somebody explain this? It's not like the usb-c port is huge in size compared to lightning.
MAybe they'll integrate it with the iphone 8? Considering the fact that 30pin connector was on 2, 3g, 3gs, 4 and 4s (so 5 ipohnes), and now after 5, 5s, 6, 6s and 7 they could go with all new standard in 8. But that's just my guess...

I agree.. that's why I'll wait until the event before being confused. I would think they have to introduce something like wireless charging to avoid getting killed by reviews.

They absolutely are not including an adapter especially if the headphones are already lightning equipped. They will sell the adapter separately for ~$25.

That's the most convincing evidence of no headphone jack for me - I'll take it.

As for storage the real question for me isn't max capacity but the minimum. Will they continue to cling to 16GB?

The 7 - comes in 16, 64, 128

the 7 plus comes in 32, 128, 256 - MOST IMPORTANTLY - this gives Apple the opportunity to jack up the plus prices by at least $30/£20 for the 32GB, and probably $100/£80 extra on the two higher tiers

More importantly, it even mentions lightning to 3.5mm included in the box. I think it's excellent for users if Apple does include it, but I think it's a mistake for Apple as it shows there's a need for 3.5mm still and they've removed it.
So what? Is it not still a better move than making one but forcing you to buy it separately? Some would view Apple's even making the adapter but not including it as both an acknowledgement that there is a need for AND yet another way to gouge customers for another $20.

Neither move on Apple's part will be without criticism from those who just have to criticize everything.

Of course, I'm using it wrong! Gosh, I need to check my Apple Usage Manual at once to make sure I conform.
You're not using it wrong. You just have a use case that doesn't apply to everyone. Find an adapter that lets you continue using it the way you currently do. Most won't need that adapter.

Dude it's only techies that care about this crap. I can assure you, mum & dad iphone user won't give a rats ass about this change. That is their bread & butter not whinging tech heads.

When they can't plug in their headphones, they will care. Adapters get lost, especially on a portable device. And the press Apple will get will all focus on how it's a problem; that's what will stick in consumer's minds.

I would think a thinner phone would be easier to hold because your hand could wrap that much more around the edges.
Thinning the phone reduces the surface area where your phone and hand contact - and that results in a weaker grip on the device.

Which is more comfortable to hold do you think? A credit card at the thin edge, or a typical smartphone? Your reasoning says the credit card; but I'm sure if you try you'll very quickly disagree.

Nope. We've reached a point with market prices that Apple will be upping the storage on both models.

32, 64, 256 will be the offerings for both iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.

WHO CARES!! GIVE US MACBOOKS APPLE!!!

A lot of people care more about phones and tablets than computers and they upgrade their computers a lot less frequently so they don’t need frequent upgrades from manufacturers. To a lot people computers are now an unfortunate necessity of modern life and nothing to get excited about or pay a premium for. They are like cars, not to be replaced until you’ve driven it into the dirt or maintenance is draining your bank account.

I realize your post probably isn't soliciting a thought out response, but I did it just the same. :)

Selling something separately that a small minority might need sends a totally different message than including it in the box for everyone. That not only says, 'everybody needs a 3.5mm Jack, so we've included one that we prematurely took away', but it also encourages customers to continue using their cheap old 3.5mm equipment, potentially without even trying the new Lightning EarPods also included in the box.

Nope, because they don't plug in headphones. None besides those that come with the iPhone. This is 99% of iPhone users. I know, its a shock to the tech geek, but reality and perspective often are.

Really? Because I see a large amount of non-stock audio devices on my daily train and bus commute. EarPods aren't uncommon, but those types of headphones do not work for a lot of people.

I agree, this has to be a fake. No way would they include lightning earpods AND the adapter. It is NOT something Apple would do!
