And ideally you will get a list of all UPS packages coming to your zip code with out being able to distinguish if one is yours or not. That's more nerve racking than just waiting.

OR... you could also use the power of deduction to see if there are any shipments with the rather unique tracking code of "1" going to your area from fulfillment center locations, or look by weight. It takes a staggering 5 seconds extra to look it up that way. There is no reason to over-complicate it.

What are you guys talking about?

I went to a sprint store near me and it couldn't have been any easier. the guys there were fantastic. Called up, cancelled my preorder (over the phone, they didn't make me do it on line). Cancelling took about 2 minutes over the phone. Had the new phone in my pocket and out the door in 15 minutes.

Man, Sprint really sucks at pre-orders.. but the have the instore process worked out to a T.

Someone asked about looking for shipments via reference numbers. Last year, I learned that you can use "1" as a reference number and your zip code to get a view of all shipments coming your way. The only trick to it is to look for the shipment's origin and, if that matches up with one of Sprint's fulfillment centers, check the weight. That narrows it down pretty quickly and it's usually a lot quicker than trying to figure out which number you need to use to look for your reference number

I tried that this morning and got an error saying I needed to narrow my search more.

Put the ship date from the 20th to today, use your zip code, select US (i'm not sure why they require that part after you put in your zip)

That’s what I did. I guess maybe there’s just too much coming to my zip code or something.

Yes, but is it locked appon arrival or does it lock as soon as you activate it?

I read something that if you pop a Verizon sim in first before your Sprint sim you can prevent it from locking to Sprint.

I'm not sure if thats true so I'm trying to find out.
I can't answer that. But From what I understand, the "unlocked" device you buy from Apple, they are unlocked and are locked to the sim/carrier they are activated with. I may be wrong but I swear I've seen that multiple times.

Yeah, this doesn't work for me either.
[doublepost=1506110827][/doublepost]Thinking of going to my Sprint store after I'm off work. Seems like that process is going much easier.

I knew when they told me that my total was going to be $10.58 to get the new iPhone it was to go to be true. Now I feel because I paid that amount my order got puch to the bottom.

just visited local store. It would have cost almost $300 to cancel and order though them, because it was not a corporate store, but a third party store labeled as a Sprint store (wtf?). Said they did it for a few people today already, and they all paid. I did not, I left.

Make sure its a legit Sprint corporate store, and not a third party reseller.
Non Corporate "Sprint" stores are just authorized resellers. To me, they will rip you off even more. I don't see how it'd charge $300 to cancel an order and do your upgrade there. They are just pocketing that money because they know some (stupid) people will pay it to get the new iPhone.

So I reached out to Marci and I spoke with an executive sprint rep who just called me back and claims she was able to “expedite” my order and it will ship tonight and be delivered Monday *eye roll*. Wasn’t everything I was hoping for, but at least I have a date.

I told them that, in maybe more colorful language, they were just after the commission and making up charges. They said its a percentage of the phone, since its not technically a pre order now, they have to charge it. So to anyone going to a store, make sure its an enterprise store.
Yeah, that's completely ********. Pre-order or not, the price to upgrade is the same across the board. There is no $300 fee to upgrade at anytime, at any store. You should write Marci and tell her about that. I'm sure they would love to hear that their resellers that are carrying their Brand are doing that to customers.

Dumb question but am I supposed to use the SIM from my old Sprint iPhone or the one in the box? I literally got no instructions in the box...

EDIT: Thanks everyone, yeah using the one in it was fine. Just had to go onto Sprint's website and use the activate section, idk why instructions weren't included in the box as the Packing Slip said to refer to them for setting up the device.
