You are being lied to
I can assure you, my two 7+'s were NOT paid off, and they knew it because they:
A) Leased them to me 12 months ago
B) Confirmed the device status by asking for the serial and IMEI #'s

It's worth it to keep trying, moving up the supervisory chain.NOWHERE in any of the published documentation does it say anything about the device must be paid for. Its incumbent for them to make it clear in writing, which they have not, don't just take a CSR's word for it....
Here are three different ads from the site, nothing about owned device. Admittedly a bit vague, but that is actually in the customer's favor!
