No Passbook support in the UK!

How on earth did Apple not inspire it's developers to have passbook ready apps BEFORE iOS release?

I guess everyone is waiting for everyone else to do it first.

They're certainly missing out on the inevitable boost in sales.

Doesn't add support for the UK app! :(

On the other hand, the Starbucks I visit daily doesn't accept the card as its a franchise, so no big loss there.

Doesn't look like it works in the UK either.

I have a physical UK card (with pounds) and two US cards (with dollars) entered into my Starbucks.app. I can transfer money between the two US cards, but I cannot transfer funds between the UK and US cards. In the Starbucks app also under Manage, I am given the option of adding the US cards to Passbook, but the UK card does given the option. With one US card added to Passbook (and no other Passbook apps loaded like Target or A/A) -- if I am sitting at home (and not Starbucks) -- as soon as I open Passbook, I am presented only with the Starbucks pay screen showing balance and bar code.

Also, at home, Siri will not launch Passbook in lock screen until you have entered your passcode.

If you are worried about access when at Starbucks, go to iPhone Settings | General | Passcode & Lock | Passbook | toggle it to OFF.

So true.

The individual Starbucks app still provides the bar code for scanning, but it just takes more keystrokes to get at it. It still is a bit more modern than Caffe Nero. LOL, they still have the ol' manual stamped loyalty card. Does Costa even have a loyalty card anymore?

----------

How much is MR being paid by Starbucks for this puff piece?

Everyone is blogging about it, so I going to go out on a limb and say zero.

Just stay the hell away from Pike's. Plenty of local produce to be had along the I-5 corridor.

Correction: Pike Place Market. There is no "Pike's."

I do most of the time, it is rather convenient as I work downtown and during the week the atmosphere is nice and close to the sound.

I definitely hit up the neighborhood markets, but I like to mix things up.

My main point is, there is much better coffee in Seattle.

Ok I added starbucks to passbook.. But how do I access the app store showing passbook apps? The button to the passbook apps within the passbook app is gone

FFS Apple. People live outside the US you know!?

So far in the UK we have iHotel, United Airlines, Lufthansa, American Airlines.

Very useful.

Give us sodding Starbucks and whilst you're at it if you could get something done with "Nectar" you will win the UK. WIN.

I somehow feel Passbook will be yet another app on the home screen that I will never, ever use…

I mean don't get me wrong, I think Passbook is great, I just don't think that enough companies will adopt it. You'll probably use it like twice and go like "wooh this is so cool" and then realize that actually most of your favorite companies don't use it.

Why does Apple have anything to do with it? Apple doesn't make the Starbucks or Nectar app. Call the respective companies and complain, don't say it's Apple's fault.

And Tescos, and Co-op. So many people use loyalty cards here in the UK, passbook would be perfect for that.

Apple demo'd lots of apps in the Keynote. Where is their Vouchers/gift cards? How could they not launch that from the start?

Apple are responsible for making deals with these companies to get them into the App.

Why did this not surprise me that the UK never got passbook support in the Starbucks app?

Another feature of an iOS that people outside the US won't get the full functionality out of!!
