The man is smart; otherwise he would not be a CEO. Just because you (and I as well) dislike Microsoft does not mean that he is an idiot.

He has anger issues, yes; but that also does not make him an idiot.

Steve Ballmer is a dorm marte of Bill Gates. They lived on the same floor.
After Ballmer became CEO, Microsoft's market value stagnated.

FYI, Steve Ballmer is smart alright, here he laughs at the iPhone:

Note, in the competitive markets, none of the Microsoft attempts at
copying Apple products were successful:

I would think it sucks a bit he put that message about needing a new one.

HOWEVER, this story has become so well viewed across the net, that now I say it's VERY cool.

Congratulations. It oddly become a big story, and I think thats cool. Well done.

nice!

the first time i heard something good about Ballmer. nice display of humor. imagine steve jobs had to sign a box of windows 7.

Nicely done OP, don't listen to the people that don't like that fact that YOU had YOUR mbp signed after YOU asked someone to do it. Enjoy it, if it makes you happy enjoy it. Well done :D

If I had Monkey Boy in front of me, I'd have him sign some toilet paper. I'd go use it. Then come back with it and stick it on his bald head!

I hate that big fat pile of crap! Why the hell would Gates put this ape in charge of MS? Why the hell would this hick hand over his MBP to BALDmer? I wouldn't trust that jerk with it. Remember how he was ***** around with Guy Kawasaki's MB Air in 08?

Wow dude. You've really gotta drop that attitude. Ballmer is a business genius. Yeah it's kinda on the weird side, but he's doing a damn good job at MS right now. Dislike Windows all you want, but you can't deny the guy's business prowess and all-around coolness for signing this guys MBP. I bet he's even nicer than The Steve™.

Ha ha! All right, I wouldn't. ;)
I wouldn't attend an event with that guy anyway.

Why not? There are way too many MS bashes and Apple lovers. I don't particularly like MS products but if he was in my area and doing a talk. I wouldn't miss the chance, he's a billionaire CEO at a leading worldwide company.

+1

Ballmer is a brilliant businessman and we could all do to learn from him.

Reason I would not attend: I really dislike ballmer. I don't necessarily dislike MS itself. Actually, if Bill Gates were speaking at an event and I had the chance to be there, I would. I wouldn't heckle him either.

So given your argument, any person who is not right when predicting the future, whether short or long term, is not smart at some level?!!!

I do have my doubts on your reasoning...

no...its about the way he trashed the iphone and stuck his foot in his mouth....he was all mighty in his speech.

nothing but a trash talker.....

just because someone is in a high position does not mean there smart....which is obvious in his case.

anyone can run a company with billions in the bank, until those billions are widdled away....again....ballmers case.

xp was the last good os microsoft put out....

now that Ballmer has the reigns....we get vista...and windows 7(only because help stepped in....and it was too late anyway)

But, surely Apple's stock is hardly doing amazingly either?

I don't really get what his intelligence has to do with the signature anyway...

Linus Torvalds in a Microsoft store.

He is spot on in that interview.
Original 8G iPhone was 600$ with 2 year contract, Apple first dropped to price to 400, then to 200, now it sells 3G for 100$. Which Apple product saw that much price reduction over very short period of time?
iPhone didn't appealed at all to businesses before it added Exchange support, which is a licensed Microsoft technology.

Makes no sense to me..

The only thing I'd want Steve Ballmer to sign would be some $100 bills, as long as he was providing them.

So basically he was right about the iPhone? It didn't become a great hit at $500 fully subsidized. It became a great hit when they lowered prices.

I like Apple, I got the iPhone 3G, I had the iPhone 2G even though it wasn't sold in Sweden, I have had Macs for the last years and so on. But Ballmer is most likely smarter then your average forum lurker, you don't become a CEO if your a retard, and everyone can't be a CEO, if they could then most people are dumb for not doing it.
