Apple's continued response to this is getting more and more asinine as the days pass. Asking a consumer to stop posting videos, are you kidding me?

Actually this story in particular doesn't even seem likely to be true. One, the guy is a tool. Two, I can't see Jobs replying to a person who conducts them like that even once.. let alone repeatedly.

See, I guess that's the part I don't get.

There's a problem... ok got that. Apple is working on it, and Jobs has said "stay tuned".

He's also said "There is no reception issue" and "You're working on bad data". This is confusing. It's not a clear position. They're working on a not a reception issue ? What are they working on then ?

In the end, Steve put it best : "It's just a phone, not worth it". He's right. That brick isn't worth the 200$. Good thing HTC, Nokia, Motorola, SE, LG and Samsung all care about making phones that actually can make calls. Those will be worth their purchase price.

Between the new Droid X, Incredible or Galaxy S, we have plenty to hold us for a while. Heck, if SE gets off their butts and releases 2.1 or 2.2 for the Xperia X10, that phone trumps all.

I am really upset with these complaining people about their signal. If only Steve Jobs could virtually slap them in the face.

Thanks for hogging up the ENTIRE inventory of iPhone 4s from the people that can adapt and would have zero issues from it.

"the whole country must have low signal strength"?

really?

hey, thanks for speaking for me... since i don't have that problem, don't have low signal strength, don't have more dropped calls, don't have worse reception.

but i'm sure completely over-stating the problem will help.

hey dude... speak for yourself. i don't have your problems. right now, i'm with jobs... it's a non-issue. and you sound like a whiny douche. just saying.

is this even still about the antenna attenuation issue? like, this is really over having to move your finger ONE MILLIMETER?!?

or is this guy having larger problems with reception?

No, actually it doesn't

What about when you're surfing or checking out the app store??? Does the phone not sit in your left hand with you dominant hand doing the pointing? This is the natural way for most right handers.

Again, maybe I'm in the minority, but I've always held the phone with my finger tips, even in my left hand when surfing. I don't bury it in my palm. Again, that's just me apparently.

Agree

honestly, i hold my phone normally but no death grip and it works fine. whoever is complaining about reception must be a perfectionist and require 4 bars at all times or scratched their phone already and is trying to weasel their way to getting a brand new one. shut the hell up and enjoy your iphone 4.

I also have not found any issue with my new phone. I love it and will buy 4 more if they let me.

I'm with steve. This issue hasn't affected me one tiny bit. I have got far better reception with the iphone than ever before.

Sorry to hear that others have having these 'really serious issues'.

If its not "worth it" why there is huge price tag attached to it?

And it is defo "worth it" if you drop important business call!

Hezuz!

>_<

Anandtech has a great, technical analysis of the "antenna" issue. Reading the number of bars really isn't a good indicator of actual signal strength and while squeezing the phone tightly does decrease the signal, the same is said on other phones. The bottom line is that the iPhone 4 still gets better reception than the 3GS.

Careful! The naysayers and FanDroids on this thread don't want objective information!

So many Jobs assl*cker in here.. It's beyond disgusting.

"Not worth it?" Hello ! This is your flagship product and it cost 1.5k for 2 years of service, idiot.

True, it's not just a phone. It's about 50% of Apple's revenue. If this was a Mac problem, I could easily see Jobs successfully blowing it off.

I don't get it. How can it be a "non issue" and just "rumors" but then goes onto say "stay tuned" and we are "working on it". He's contradicting himself.

So you bought 12 iPhones for a $4800? That's $400 a piece, you got screwed and you flew to London to buy them???

That's the most idiotic thing I have heard so far.
Erm, but the 32GB iPhone costs £509 excluding VAT so that's $770 each. Sounds like he got them very cheap to me...

Embarrassed

You know, I used to be proud to be an Apple owner, but this whole antenna debacle makes me embarrassed. Apple better make this good soon, or next time I am eligible for an upgrade, I'll be holding an Android phone in my hand.

I actually have no problems with my iPhone 4, but this whole this just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

This right here. I can understand people complaining if they have legitimate issues, no one has to kiss Steve Jobs butt and say things are fine when they aren't. But when you have the attention of the CEO of Apple, and one of the most important people in tech over the last 25+ years, trying talking to him in a respectful manner for goodness sake! Jobs doesn't even have to communicate directly with the customers if he doesn't want to, but he takes the time to do so (and quite often, it seems). Almost no other CEO does this, and you typically get some canned response or an email from a CS rep if you do try to contact the CEO of any other company. If you're lucky enough to have Jobs communicate with you, at least do so with some freaking intelligence. I"m a business operator myself, and I know that I am much more apt to deal with an irritated, but respectful customer with a complaint than I am to someone with the exact same complaint, but yelling a me and having no respect for me or my employees.

I totally agree with you, but remember everyone in the world has a different level of intellect. Although he has a legitimate complaint, this guy obviously has none.

Return it. You still have time (if you really own one.)

The law suit you speak of was initiated by the LAW FIRM, not by consumers. They're hoping to get sheeple to jump on their bandwagon. Nothing is filed, nothing is imminent.

Common misconception - a class action suit only needs a few complainers - everyone who owns a phone is a member of a class action suit unless they opt out, you don't have to opt in.

I'm really not buying that you can stand next to a tower and lose 4 bars with a bumper on. The bumper seems to be solving everyones issues, especially if you're right next to a tower. It definitely doesn't allow me to bridge the antennas through the rubber and plastic, and my phone does do it without the bumper. Right now I'm more pissed about this yellow spot that's there on my phone most of the time. Went to the apple store and of course it wasn't there then so the "genius" didn't believe me. I'm just waiting to find out if it's gonna go away bc I have a zagg invisible shield just waiting to go on with the bumper.

He's standing under the tower. Not much signal to be had there.
