I think the statement Apple released is true, all phones will normally have SOME reception loss when the antenna is blocked by flesh, BUT I think this is really software related like you say and the hardware is no more at fault than any other cell phone!

Now, have I been hearing problems with the proximity sensor(s)???..... Are there still 2 on the iPhone 4??? Anybody hear about issues with those on iPhone 4?

Hmmmm, I've had problems wig my sensor. I dismissed it as me pulling the phone away from my cheek, but a couple of times now the loudspeaker came on and the mute button got pressed. Very strange as I never had this issue with any of my previous iPhones b

Yep, there is a hardware issue, and yes it can be solved with a software update.

How?

The two antenna parts that are connected via peoples palms seems to short circuit the antenna, so how to solve this is by disabling the bottom antenna part when the phone is held in your hand. That way the two antennas won't interfere.

I think disabling either antenna would severly piss off about the same amount of people as the problem itself already does. It would mean either losing call connection completely OR wifi, bluetooth etc..

You made the claim, which was that I had not demonstrated how I pointed out the fallacies in your statements. The burden of proof is on you to show why that is the case.

Since Chill retired, I thought I'd just say, a false notion is not nonsense, nonsense is that which is neither true nor false, which is what your statement amounts to. Also, look up non-sequitur as your argument about logic's compelling assent in this case is absurd.

I really was just honestly looking for some good discussion. I'm not sure why everyone is so full of hate. Sad, really.

Sure, I understand and believe you, but the discussion has deteriorated into a true/false exchange where neither party is able or willing to back down.

There are a few things that can be done:

• See some humor in it like me and enjoy the exchange and inject a sarcastic comment now and then
• Get angry and leave (which a lot did)
• Notify the administrators (which probably a lot did too, but these guys and girls also need some sleep after fondling their iPhone4's looking for reception issues...)

In addition it has basically become a discussion between two individuals, which is not about the problem itself, but about the method of establishing that there IS a problem.

The people in this thread have for themselves established that there IS a problem, and want to discuss about that and not the method of finding the problem.

The discussion how to establish the method of finding or isolating the problem is maybe a good topic for a new thread.

It’s not a problem. We all went with it and joined in the discussion at some point. Troll accusations have flown back and forth. Such is live on the internets.


Macrumors is a very civilized forum (most of the times) with great people that can really help you when you are in a bind with your Apple product. I have been a happy member for more than two years, checking in each day. This forum has helped me in a number of times. And it’s definitely a good place to make some virtual friends.
