I don't mind seeing the movie but I just won't pay to see on a theater. I'll wait until comes to video.
The good thing is that finally the interest in Steve might be waning.
I love the guy but at some point it is too much overload. Let it go. I think most of it has already being said.
Miss Steve, RIP.

not surprised as many have no interest in seeing this film, if for nothing else based on how many times it was remade.

His dealing with his illness and possibly worrying about his legacy? His relationship with Jony and Tim?

This! A movie about the CEO handover that informs us about how he viewed his legacy and his concerns and that also included his relationship with I've and Cook... I would watch that in a heartbeat.

I'm still surprised the Facebook movie was popular. I was actually worried this movie would do well. I'm kind of relieved people have more sense.

The Pirates of Silicon Valley was good, because it actually showed the history of not only Steve Jobs but Apple and Microsoft. The history of Steve Jobs and Bill Gates and the early days of computing is quite fascinating. Three 40 minute backstage whatevers is a pretty dumb idea for a movie.

It's my favourite film of the year so far. Regardless of how accurate absolutely every detail is, it's Steve's personality off the stage that the film's been made for. And I for one found it absolutely entertaining. Emotional, funny, and dark.

I'm reading a LOT of comments from people here bashing the film, and then saying they won't be watching it...

A film directed by Danny Boyle, written by Aaron Sorkin, and starring the cast that it has should NOT be bashed without having been viewed. It isn't a Transformers film. It's bloody brilliant.

People are going to hate me for saying this, but it's the truth. It tanked because it's rated R. This type of film should have the same target market as films like The Social Network. If they would have left out the F-bombs, it would have made more money this first weekend. Just sayin'....

I could not agree more. This movie was excellent and had nothing whatsoever that made it seem rated R. As for people complaining that's it's not accurate, it's a dramatization, not a documentary. It's ridiculous to criticize it on that front unless it completely misses the character of Steve, and it doesn't appear to have missed at all, IMO. Of course his wife and some execs at Apple will disagree because it dramatically portrays his unrelenting side (but also powerfully portrays his softer side).

Glad I saw it for what it is, and will see it again.

And how do you get a movie like that without the cooperation of Cook and Ive?

If this movie had been 100% fiction and used fictional names people wouldn't be trying to reconcile it with the facts.

People wouldn't be complaining nearly as much if he had used fictional characters/names. The minute you use real people and real events in a movie it's only logical that people will try and reconcile it back to what actually happened.

Went and saw it. It was boring. I'm not sure what the people who are seeing stuff in it are seeing.

It lacks anything to care about. The whole time it's just randomly switching around to try and make you care about Job's relationship with _____. Every three minutes it pivots the who is in the blank, between his daughter, the mother of his daughter, his personal assistant, Woz, Andy the engineer, Sulley, and a reporter. The movie completely lacks any plot to be invested in. And it's not a comedy or action movie, so it doesn't get a pass on that.

most don't want to watch it, because it's been released so late. the hype around jobs' work and death have died down. if this was released three years ago, then maybe more people would have cared.

Should have had the film start later in Steve's life, i.e. post-2000. And the film should have been first iPod, iPhone, iPad. Then it could also have included Steve's death in the finale. That would have been current and modern products and tear-jerker final days of Steve's life. It would have been much more relatable to overwhelming majority of the population and a better storyline. And regardless of Fassenbender's acting chops, if it had better casting with lead played by actor with more actual likeness to Steve, i.e. paying Bale any amount it would have taken for him to sign on to the project, it would have been a blockbuster. Fassenbender does not resemble Steve; The product launches are, for the most part, ancient. So neither of those are relatable to audiences: subconsciously character-wise, visually tech-wise. It doesn't compute.

Spot on.

Perhaps include the first Mac as well; that was a memorable launch.

His illness and death, in particular, would have created a strong emotional impact. But I'm not sure that such a film should be made without the express consent of Laurene, his wife.

Shame. It was a great film.
again, only Apple Fanboys like this movie...As far as rotten tomatoes giving this one of the highest rating ever, to me they were paid to do so or have apple stocks. Not many movies receive a rotten tomatoes rating above 90%.

How do you know if your an Apple Fanboy...

01. pretty much every smartphone you have is an Apple
02. pretty much any laptop you have is an apple
03. pretty much you have the apple tv and call it revolutionary
04. pretty much any post is positive and never negative towards apple
05. pretty much any negative comment by Tim Jobs is so mind blowing smart
06. pretty much any rectangle shape should be sued because Apple invented the rectangle shape
07. pretty much any negative post about apple is always false and should be sue forever
08. pretty much any polls or surveys always is like totally awesome
09. pretty much like this post is always 100% false because everything about Apple is always perfect because they made God himself

Sorkin lost me with "the graphical user interface was stolen".
nothing is truly original...there's about over 4 billion in this world. if I think chocolate taste so good but somebody else doesn't...does that make my taste so original?

For reals... I could watch Steve's original iPhone keynote over and over and never get bored. That was the single best presentation in the history of presentations!
hahaha, I think I rather read comics than watch keynotes or this movie.

I thought it was a great film, but I did feel you needed a bit of background knowledge already to understand it all.
to each their own..one million thinks this is a great film while 4 billion thinks the opposite

It was mediocre film at best and 50% of it was pure fabrication. So much so that is was actually wrong to call it "Steve Jobs." They should have called it something like "iCon" and insinuated that the character was based on Steve Jobs. (Sorta like "Boogie Nights" was based on the late 70s porn industry with Dirk being Johnny Holmes and Roller Girl being Traci Lords).

I mean, the bad Ashton Kutcher "Jobs" was more accurate.

Really?!? Hoffman left NEXT in the early 1990s and completely retired from the industry by 1995. But, the movie shows her as a key person (and still employed by Jobs) at the 1998 iMac intro. That's a HUGE fabrication. Sorkin told a story he wanted to tell and grafted Jobs onto it for notoriety.

I absolutely HATE Facebook and I went to see the "The Social Network" and loved it. And plenty of people did, even though Zuckerberg is an even less known or interesting figure, played by a completely unknown actor to the general public.
You don't have to "like" the world of a film to enjoy it.

If you want a definitive portrayal of Jobs that doesn't conform to the odd and over used "tyrant" stereotype, read the book "Becoming Steve Jobs". I've no interest in watching a film that contains fictional conversations between Jobs and Woz, especially when said film is attempting to take itself seriously.

And if people are really desperate to see Steve in action, YouTube has every public appearance Steve ever made and then some.

Are you trying to say 4 billion people live on earth? You're about 3.4 billion short there.
