I could not believe my eyes when I read the headline - I wish it weren't true. Rest in Peace, Steve. You may be gone, but never forgotten. You were an amazing person who contributed immensely to the world in ways few could even dream of. We are forever grateful and lucky to have had and continue to experience your contributions in the form of all things Apple.

Along with several generations of beneficiaries, I would like to extend my condolences to Steve's family and to the Apple family he leaves to carry on.

I have had the joy to be included as one of the hundreds of thousands that make up the legion of Apple App developers, but in the late 70's I can point with pride to my involvement in selling Apple compatible software through the first mail order software distribution channel "The American Software Club" and to my active relationship with the Apple "Connect, Inc" in assisting with the development of early vertical market networking services, such as PsychNet.

Apple was always an open door to good ideas!

Over the decades I have watched Steve see a future no one else saw; design what no one else had designed, build what no one else could build and sell more than any one thought possible.

And oh yes, just one more thing... Thanks.
 
Gone too soon.

You were my hero. Thank you for showing us how to live a very full and thoughtful life. We love you and will miss you dearly.

Our prayers are with your family and friends who are grieving as only those close to you can be right now. Our thoughts are with the rest of us who are saddened even though we didn't even know you.

wow, I'm truly saddened. Sad day for apple fans, and what loss of a brilliant innovator to the entire world. RIP Steve. :apple:
 
So saddened by this news. My sympathies to family, friends and co-workers, and to all the world for losing such a brilliant mind too soon.

Mods, please remove the nastiness from this thread. They have all of MacRumors to spread their lack of class... Let's keep this thread for those who mourn this loss.
 
Thanks for everything, Steve. I'm going home to write a piece of music on my beautiful, amazing iMac, that will sound for all the world like a real orchestra. Never would have been possible without you.

I don't believe in an afterlife, but I think he did amazing things with the life he was given.
