The dlc is available for the 360 because MS paid them 50 million dollars to secure it. The Lost and the Damned is going to the ps3 eventually, and sony isnt paying a dime for it.
The Lost And Damned (and the next "episode") will never go to PS3.

The $50 million was an interest-free loan. It was win-win for MS and R*. R* got a cash-injection to help fund development, and MS got exclusive content. It has paid for itself already, many times over.

Glad to see my MS Office dollars are being spent well.

This kind of subsidising across product lines is gonna come back to bite Microsoft in the hiney sometime soon.

Link to this, please.

Never say never especially when it has anything to do with games/DLC being exclusive. Where have you been this whole generation even to make a claim like that? If anything this is the generation of the multi-plat and/or timed exclusives. Short of 1st party development nothing is "exclusive" anymore.

Coming hot off the heels of industry analyst Michael Patcher citing he believes the Lost and Damned DLC will sell 2 million on Xbox 360 and the next full GTA title will come out next year, PlayStation Insider has received an anonymous tip.

The tipster cites Microsoft and Take-Two Interactive’s (parent company of GTA developer Rockstar) original press release about the episodic content claiming, it was carefully worded PR hyperbole, only confirming the episodic content would only be a downloadable exclusive, mentioning nothing of future retail releases.

A link doesn't exist, because it's made up.

Because MS funded the development? It might as well be first party.

Also, lol at the hilarious speculation in that article.

Where have I been this generation? Playing games, on the 360, the PS3, and the Wii. Where have you been?

Looks like a textbook case of leveraging one's dominance in one area to secure market share in another.

Sony do this
Apple do this
Nintendo do this
Adidas do this
Nike do this
Wallmart do this

ad-infinitum do this....

Pretty much every company does this when it thinks there are positive gains to be made in an area, so they use the mighty $$$ as leverage.

Other companies like Apple probably get away with a lot more evil corporate stuff, because they are not under as much scrutiny as the big Microsoft.

It's just one of those things..... and like a bridge..... we may as well 'get over it'.... ;):) Bitching about it on a forum like this certainly gets you nowhere.

Irrelevant. None of these are convicted monopolists under a consent decree.

bless......

did Bill Gates take a poop in your sneaker or somthing ? :D

Such vitriol may be better aimed in a formal letter to the appropriate authority.
MacRumors certainly isn't that authority...

It was a loan.

Loan my arse...it was straight up bribery to get leverage. I'm not condoning what MS did to obtain this DLC or any other but come on man.

I'm sure DLC will come to the PS3(I read a full exclusive GTA or new IP) but I don't think Lost & Damned will be coming to the PS3 seeing as MS has already made "interest" in that DLC.

Just for the record: GTA doesn't "run" better on the 360. Both versions have their downfalls but they look basically the same.

Whats really pissing me off is I'm not able to get the DLC for fallout 3 and I thought that was a low blow to people that own the game on the PS3...the PITT DLC looks sooo good:mad:

Bless

Yeah, and fortunately some of those authorities are doing their job.

But considering that MacRumors is a platform where people can talk about how cool it is that Microsoft bought some mindshare for their console/phone/settop box/web framework/online service or other platform of choice, a response ought to be possible. It isn't any different when someone brings up the old misconception that antitrust punishments should apply equally to all companies.

I mentioned things about the hardware before but really it's about the games. I've already said that it's pretty common (if not the rule) for multiplatform games to be superior on Xbox 360.

In reality though, you have to look at the exclusive titles to decide which machine you prefer. For me it has to be Xbox 360. I love Project Gotham Racing 4, Forza Motorsport 2, Pure and Race Pro. In the next couple of weeks we'll be getting OutRun Online Arcade too.

PS3 has nothing that comes close to these. Ferrari Challenge is good, but it's spoiled by the fact that the online mode is dodgy and very few people own the game, so there isn't much re-playability in it. Please don't say GT because I am sick of that game - it's the same as it was ten years ago just with beefed up visuals and one of the worst online modes I've ever had to suffer. Mario Kart Wii does a better job of online MP than GT5P.

The only game I've been really, really glad I own a PS3 for is Formula 1 Championship Edition. I love this game so much and I've put in about 50 hours so far. The single player is a whole lot of fun and it is a real shame that yet again, the online mode is awful.

Unfortunately the charm of Mario (and that like - Kirby, Metroid etc) has been developed over the years. If one was to come out it would probably be lambasted by the gaming masses. To create something likable and with character that isn't a naff cliche is this day and age is near impossible.

And I've always wanted to use lambasted. Thanks, opportunity.

well there are strong Rumors the ps3 is geting a price drop very shortly possibly this weekend or this week at GDC 300 bucks for the 80 gig model now tell me the ps3 is not a better deal the best blu ray player on the market great games Killzone 2 SFIV God of war III Infamous and ps3 users get first dibs at the Final Fantasy XIII Demo plus there are even more hints of MGS 5 teaser at E3. If this happens soon with the price drop the ps3 is 100x better value then the 360

The war rages on...

I chose the 360 because of the new chips that were installed this past fall to avoid the Red Ring of Death.

Halo is on 360 and not on PS3.
Also, Xbox Live is awesome and the servers are reliable and many of my friends are on Live.

To each his own, but for me the 360 had more Pros than the PS3

I have both, more recently bought a 360. The amount of money I spent JUST to get the value I got out the box for a PS3 was nearly equal. So those saying $400 is too much (it is a lot of money) when compared to the 360, it's really not bad. And this was me buying an arcade system. I needed a HDD, buy xbox live, controller battery pack + cable, wireless network adapter, etc etc.

So PS3 wins for me.

That's a very good point.

The PS3 has pretty much everything you need, whereas with the 360 you have to buy many things, then the price difference isn't that much. Okay, maybe the PS3 isn't supplied with a headset, but the Sony PS3 headset is WAY better than the one that comes with the 360. That thing always breaks.

And you have to pay for online. Sure, you get to be part of the 'Xbox Live Community'. Just go into one game of Call of Duty online, and you'll see just how high and mighty Xbox Live is.

Edit: This should explain how I feel :D

And my cousin just got his new game destroyed by his own 360. All he did was put the controller down on the table and OOPS! Disk Error.
Horrid noises. Game dead.

Our NES never broke anything, it still works to this day. How long did it take for some people's 360 to break? Days. Consoles older than me still work perfectly to this day. What does that tell you about the quality of things MS churn out?

Come on now, even though you do have to pay for it the 360 online service is the best of any console. Look at everyone trying to mimic it! Though I'm surprised Nintendo haven't started adding achievements to their games (barring Metroid Prime 3).

And if somebody is abusive report them or change the 'zone' you play in.
