I would have a 360 over a ps3 any day. The price of the playstation is just too much- you can pick an xbox up for as little as £180. Yeah- the ps3 is more powerful- but i would hope so considering the size of the thing! The ps3's power doesn't really give it that much of an advantage over the xbox because most game titles are released on both consoles (although i do wish MGS was released on xbox).

Some people have mentioned the noise that the 360 makes- but load your games onto your hard drive and the 360 runs very quietly and loads quicker! Plus add in Xbox Live and well, you have got yourself a rather nice console.

i think killzone 2 and resistance 2 just cemented the ps3 for the win

Until somthing else hits the 360 and everyone goes but look this is better than this... ad repetum....

Personally, whilst I really enjoy both Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 - I'd take Banjo Kazooie on the 360 over either of them for the gaming 'long haul' anyday. It's equally as technically impressive, but has far more single player substance to it's bones.

Just different strokes really. I'm even replaying Kameo and for a game that is now over 3 years old; it stacks up mightly against the current output of games on both systems on a technical level with all it's filters, bluring-perspective techniches which are some of the best demonstrated on either the 360 or PS3, and particle effects.

:)

What, really? Killzone 2 is fun and all but R2 just feels kind of old, and them boss battles were not fun at all. K2 feels like a real current gen shooter.

I think the PS3 library is definitely beefing up and fast becoming the N64 of this gen (quality over quantity).

I played a couple hours of KZ2 and have found it more and more enjoyable. It took me an hour or so to get used to everything, but I LOVE the way it controls. I also love how it combines some of that cool "you're on your own" aspect of first person shooters with the huge battle scenes. The huge battle scenes really are something to behold. Enemies fire at you and your allies. Your allies are actually smart. The physics are awesome and everything is blowing up / blowing in the wind. Blood everywhere. Fascinating game. Love it.

Oh yeah - the story is weak. Let me sum it up for you - There are aliens. We need to kill them.

They are humanoids, not aliens.

Helghast are a faction of human descendants who colonized the planet Helghan many generations ago. The planet's harsh environment forced the Helghast to adapt and mutate so much that they can no longer be considered human. They are stronger, faster and more resilient than their human cousins, and possess a burning hatred for humanity. Except for a small number of half-breed Helghast and trained troopers, they require a gas mask and air processing tank that creates air similar to that found on the planet Helghan.

This is a hard one... If the price of a ps3 was the same as an xbox i would definably get it.

Lets face it, The reason the xbox is more popular:
- Its cheaper
- It has had much more advertising
- Your friends have them. (the main reason i got mine was so i could play my friends. Now if they all had PS3's, I would as well)

But in terms of the game system itself. The PS3 is definably superior. I don't care what anyone says. When my nephew brought his PS3 over and hooked it up to my TV, It blew the 360 away in graphics. (madden 09) Also i do like the slimmer controller of the 360.

360..
Its more prone to break down (In fact its just about Guaranteed to)
It has more since it moneyhats more (and is ruining this industry for it)
Most my friends don't have a 360 (Don't assume what others have, sorry if i misread this statement)
It costs more similarly equipped

It can go both ways....

The only argument against the ps3 is its price, which isnt bad considering what you get. Not only is the ps3 superior in processing performance, thus making it better for the long haul than the 360, the ps3 also has built in wifi (which everyhting this gen has except the 360, which is a shame. MS really tried to put the least effort into their console), a hdd is standard unlike the $200 crippled 360, every ps3 has free online forever, the power brick is INSIDE the console which is really just a pet peeve but it makes the unit so much nicer, the ps3 plays blu-ray movies....
Yeah, it costs more, but for what you get it is definitely worth it.

Sony also has much better first-party developers and has quite a few great 3rd party devs that are loyal to them (Insomniac, for one. I love insomniac, i have yet to play a game as charming as R&C). Sony has the rights to the engine used in KZ2, which is amazing. KZ2's story was pretty bad (though not as bad as gears, imo), but you can tell how awesome the engine is as soon as you start the game. I could go into a huge story about the little thing in kz2 that impress me, but u wont. Just imagine taht with Sony owning the KZ2 engine we will see games in 5 years that make KZ2 look ugly!

I also like knowing that my ps3 doesnt have a good chance of dying every time i turn it on. Its just an example of how Japanese companies are doing much better than US ones. Japanese culture demands that quality be a key component whereas in the US companies try and get away with making cheap crap and get away with it because consumers want their instant gratification and later try to defend a company that sent out defective consoles!

Yep. The PS3 is easily one of the best investments I've made. The only downside is the time I spend playing games like KZ2 should be spent towards my studying :(

Oh come off it!
So why wasn't the last Xbox as faulty as the current one? Why aren't Macs breaking left right and centre? It's got frig all to do with differences in culture and society! Did you forget about the class action lawsuit against Sony for the PS2's disc reading problems or the initial PSP dead pixel problem, or even Nintendo's (another Japanese company) DS Lite cracked hinge or overheating Wii GPU?

It is daft that MS wouldn't put WiFi in the 360 though. Even both the handheld consoles have WiFi.

It was merely an example, i didnt say the entire market followed suit. I was comparing it mostly to the auto industry, which sucks in the US.

Either way, the wii,ds, and psp problems werent near as bad as the 1/3 360's that took a dive. MS should be embarrassed, but they arent because they have everyones money. Ps2's died by large numbers, but most of them took several years to die, not several weeks.

MS refuses to release the official numbers (the must be embarrassed) but the average life seems to be about 1 year or so. Some fail in a matter of days, yet some launch consoles are still going strong. its not a chance i like to take mith my toys. I enjoy knowing that when i turn on my ps3 i dont have to fear that it will die on me. My friend has a launch 360 which is now out of the 3 year warranty period and he rarely plays any more because he is afraid it will die if he uses it.

Yep my launch machine still works without any hiccups. As for your friend not playing his 360 because it may break making him unable to play his 360!! Well either he's clinacly insane or paranoid :p Seriously i mean come on - that's madness. Nearly EVERY car at some point gets a flat tyre. Are you going to avoid ever driving a car anywhere because you might get one ? No....

Can't we all just agree to disagree?

Tyre :D
Im american so i find that amusing.

anyway....

Getting a flat tire is part of owning a car. You know that when you buy a car things are going to go wrong eventually. Unfortunately, when my pal bought his 360 at launch he didnt know 1/3 of them were going to break, He didnt know that there was a chance he would be buying another in 3 years.

, He didnt know that there was a chance he would be buying another in 3 years.

Your friend wasn't open to the possibility that something he buys could possibly break ????

Yet it's been 3 years and still nothing ? mmmm

Regardless of the 360 'failure rate' any item you buy can break.

I didn't expect my PowerMac G5 to go belly up just one month after it's 3 year applecare expired either, even though it was a REV A machine and many other people had problems and still do with mac REV A hardware. It's just life, these things happen.

You can't go living your life worried about what 'might' happen, otherwise your not really 'living' in the first place.
