If you got 64GB at same price as 16GB would that still be too much? Why go on and on about the ram? It comes three ways 16 64 and 128. Pick one and go with it. And if it's that much a problem buy a different phone. What if I wanted 22 1/2 GB ram. That would be perfect for me so company should make that just for me, cuz I'm special? The entitlement mentality here is unbelievable.
My response was to another poster and his comment about "just buying" what you need.

You can't "just buy" what you need if what you need is 32GB and Apple does not offer a 32GB model. So, you'd have to buy either less than you need or more than you need.

Which drives the denizens here who go ******* on others for buying MORE than they need just plain frickin' crazy.

PS. I'm talking about the OP. Not me. I always buy the highest capacity I can get - whether I need it or not. Simply because I WANT it.

I don't even think it's more about that as much as it is them simply wishing that the 32 GB capacity was being offered as the based capacity at the entry price. Those who only need 32 GB wouldn't even bring it up as a concern of any sort if 64 GB was the lowest priced offered option.

Well they buy more processor speed than they "need", and plenty of other areas of function as well that they may not use. I don't think there is anyone on the planet that uses "all" of the capabilities of their iPhone that they paid for. I think some people think that they should be able to buy exactly what THEY want. If you want something as specific is that, then you will need to contract some company to make one for you that meets all your criteria. I used to do this with PCs years ago... buy the parts and build exactly what I need. You know what? I figured out I could just maybe buy more than what I needed for less by going with a standard configuration. The actual cost different between 32GB and 64GB is pretty minimal. Apple isn't going to have 6 different models. It seems to me that 16, 64, and 128 is a pretty good spacing and selection. What if I needed 75GB. Should they make one at that size for people that need 75GB even though I can just by the 128GB model?

LOL! You and the other respondent are arguing a point with me that is not mine, or my situation.

I simply pointed out that if someone (in this case, the OP) needed 32GB, Apple did not have that as an option. So, that person would be unable to purchase "what they needed". So in light of the topic(s) of this thread, making that statement to begin with means the person making it was not paying attention.

I brought that up only because there is a contingent of users on this forum who firmly believe that you should only purchase what you need, no more and no less. And that contingent looks down on those who do either.

I know, I was basically agreeing with you. I also get to be highest (edit) storage. Nothing worse than realizing you should have gotten more (edit) storage. Better to have more in reserve than not enough and be crippled.

As far as available (edit) storage, I was continuing my thinking and desire to see the next storage offering jumping to 64/128/256. Skipping 32 as it won't be long before that becomes the new 16.

As for those that feel compelled to say I am wrong for buying high (edit) storage. You are wrong for buying just adequate (edit) storage.

Now we are on the same page! ;)

This year is an anomaly for us as we normally have our phones for two years on the numbered cycle. We'd have been on the 6/6+ still, but we ported out of Sprint so I took advantage of the difference in price to get the 6s/6s+. We will be back on track next year with the 7.

But generally we keep our phones for 2.5-3 years and do not sell them so I want the max storage I can possibly have. They end up being media devices or given away after that. You never know. And I just like having it around. Just like I don't "need" unlimited data, but I want it - so I pay for it.

So, seeing as we are with these phones for that long I want to continue to like the devices for the entire time I have them - so I just buy what I want versus what I actually need.

RAM <> storage... All iPhone 6s's have the same amount of RAM.

I'd have considered the 32GB for $50 premium TBH for my wife and mother. They ended up both getting 128 (through a free promo) so the point is somewhat moot, but next year, if 32 gb is cheaper than 64 (whether that is base, or a model between 16 and 64) simply because their needs are more than 16 but less than 64.

I am unsure how many people fall into that category. I am also how this would effect Apple's bottom line. Maybe people wouldn't even look at the 32gb and automaticlaly opt for 64? I realy can't say. Unfortunately 16 is just unusable for us (and if not unusable, too may sacrifices would need to be made).

I have seen it mentioned a number of times that as you near your storage capacity the device can start slowing and also can act a bit weird. I like to have 30% or more reserve storage. Same thing on my computers.

Your post makes no sense (IMHO). You rant on about privacy, but say "ios apps do the same thing", or "so does Apple". So why use Apple products?C

There are differences between the companies and policies for apps. There is no best solution there is only to choose between them. There are the same problems that android apps have, but they may work abit differend way. When you ibstall the app (ios) basic operations dont ask priviledges to your account details too much but when activating some functions of the app it starts to ask too much like many Gapps. For example to save my notes to GDrive from my ipad, i have to give my GDrive account information (obviously), but what is the reason for that app to check my Google profile too or start logging my location? In most cases these are usually already turned on when installing app in android (lazy developers?) and hence i feel android apps are worse on many times.

Right now apple sounds better for me but it is not a perfect either.

We would appreciate you going back to android and being on their forum saying how great it is.

Thanks for the suggestion, but im already logged in on several android forums. The difference is that you dont need to say how great it is because everyone on those forums already know it - they dont need to be reminded five times a day, "android is great", to convinced them and be without butthurt...

Really? So the story now is not to buy more than I need? LOL!!!!! I just has some fanboys from other platforms get on me for saying I don't want an LED. I don't need it so why would I buy it. They called me a fan girl and accused me of making excuses for Apple. They told me to just disable it.

Now here the argument is not to buy more than I need. So getting 64 GB is a bad thing when you wanted 32GB. Because God knows people don't buy music or movies or shows and they don't take pictures or videos you know.

I love these arguments.

Edit - by the way I always max out in storage because I know I'll use it. I'm often on long flights and I like the option of having my movies available.

Android is great! All hail the mighty Android!!!
Android is great. Until the first upgrade which turns your phone into a hot mess.

I loved my Note 4 when I got it. Lollipop ruined it. And the fanboys on an Android site blamed it on my phone. Regardless of other feedback easily found on Google.

What if OP "needs" 32GB. Not 16 (not enough), not 64 (too much). 32GB.

What then?

If 32GB storage is the most important feature in a phone for you (or the OP), there are many other companies that offering that size, Apple not one of them, so get over this storage nonsense and move on.

Its funny, most of the ppl that complaining about this anyways buying the 64\128 version, and the rest expecting to get 32GB in the price of 16GB. ppl always find something to complain about (storage, ram, screen size...) - you cant satisfied everyone.

I hear you!

I want a LED light too. Whole other argument(s) I've been involved in here.

But yeah, I brought that up because I've been pilloried in the past for being a financial idiot for buying more than I need.

The concept of "because I want to" is something very foreign to these people.

I'm not complaining. I was making a point that Apple does not offer a capacity in the size that the OP needs. So, telling OP to "just get what he needs" is not possible with an Apple iPhone. He can only get too little or too much - not what he needs.

In any case, I'm not the OP and this is not my issue.

I'll state it again. I buy the maximum capacity Apple offers whenever I buy. Screw if I need it or not, I don't care - it's what I want.

64GB iPhone 5.
128GB iPhone 6+
128GB iPhone 6s+

In that order I have bought, max capacity every time.

PS. The most important feature for me is looks. I live with my phones for 2.5 to 3+ years. I want to still be able to look at the phone for that long and like it. Specs are important to me, but nowhere near as important as how good the device looks.

I've been accused of being shallow for that around here. So be it.

Apple also not offering higher capacity (256GB) that some ppl want, so whats your point ?

Its not personal, but this 16\32GB base model storage getting old n' beaten to death by now.
As long as its a free world, everyone having the option to choose whatever they need, want or can afford.

Interesting take as to me nothing about the iPhone 6 looks great. The back has those ugly antenna bands, the front has that glossy somewhat cheap look around the home button and large bezels around the screen. Most of the color combinations available would look better with a black front. IMO it's Apple's least attractive phone design so far.

My point is you stated (in a much earlier post and in regard to capacity) "Get what you need".

You cannot get what you need if what you need is 32GB and Apple does not offer it.
