Maybe they figure that students are more likely than other developers to seed Leopard as a torrent? And giving students an already digital copy makes that process even easier???

Bit late for them to worry about that. The torrent has been out for nearly a week. Or so I hear.

At least you guys got an e-mail. I have nada, though I've just switched to GMail's IMAP and it's all being a bit weird, so maybe it'll pop up soon.

Thqt's a little strange... I had the email but my membership ends today... I hope I will get it even if I am not supposed to receive the November mailing...

I did not receive the e-mail either. My student ADC membership was just verified and confirmed yesterday and I am thinking that has something to do with it. Let me know if you get one.

Oh yaah!!

Also woke up to a pleasant surprise in the form of an email this morning as well: leopard is free!!

Wow, totally pleased with the ADC student route.....got a discount in the summer on my new MBP and now I get leopard for free :)

I mean it's more or less free because I already got my $100 bucks back when I saved $500 on MBP.

I know...I was just pointing out that Leopard definitely free, the savings on a computer was well over the membership fee.

In that case, make sure you download it before your subscription ends. I believe the GM is online now.

Only if it were online for student ADC members. I checked many times yesterday only to find out that student members weren't so lucky to get it online.
But something tells me that I would probably get leopard since it will be shipped on 10/30, they have to generate shipping labels and such before that day to get everything ready to be shipped out on 10/30. Either way if I don't get it, I'll give them a friendly call since I technically made the cutoff.

Im a Student Developer in the UK.

Thats the Email I got today, I was in the Apple store (Buchanan Street, beautiful btw! :)) about to buy Leopard when I decided to play around with Leopard on the iMac's first. Wanted to check my email and BAM!!

It was luck, if I had bought it before checking my mail I would not have bothered checking it at home and being the excitable Apple geek I am I would have installed Leopard.

Not sure of Apples return policy on used software :p

I emailed the ADC support for my Apple Student Developer membership about Leopard and they didn't give me an answer. They just said that Apple hasn't made any announcement for ADC members with regards to Leopard, and to look at the ADC News for any such announcements. I would like to purchase it IF I wasnt going to get it for free, but I guess I'll have to wait and see.

I got an email from the ADC support saying that Leopard discs would be sent out around the 30th and to expect them to arrive the first week of November. I've been a student ADC member for 2 years. Alas my student days will be over this year so I've got only one chance to renew at the low price.

Anyone understand the logic in not letting us download but sending it in the mail? Personally I'd rather download it, I could then just restore the image to an external hdd and install that way. No need for wasted resources.

Did anyone receive their ADC student mailing with Leopard yet? If so, do the install DVDs come in the retail packaging? Thanks.

If they did it would likley only be people in California. Do they send these out standard mail? It's got to make it all the way to Michigan for me... :(

Oh that is nothing. My ADC mail usually comes from New Zealand, I'm in the Netherlands, which is exactly at the other side of the world. I very curious about the rationale behind that.

Hi everyone -

I just found this thread as I was looking for information on whether student developers will get a copy of Leopard. It seems that they will, so that's great. My wife is a student again (going back for her Master's) so signing her up for the program could be a good way to get a slight additional discount on the OS, plus maybe a hardware discount.

However, my question is - since I just found this today, and apparently the current discs already shipped on Tuesday... If we signed her up today, would we likely have to wait until next month's mailing to get Leopard? Anyone know? It's not the end of the world, but then you do start to think that maybe the extra $10 to get it from Amazon is worth not having to wait so long.

Thanks for any insight!

That's very odd. I live in the UK at the moment and I get my mailings from Germany. It also makes sense to me as I used to live near the place they are being sent from in Germany and I know it's one of Germany's main centers for logistics. Firms like Amazon have their main warehouses there.

You get the "current OS" in the first mailing you get, with the beginning of the membership. So, it might take like 2 weeks after signing up, but you would get Leopard in your starting kit, which would probably come before the next mailing.

I've got my ADC Student Leopard copy on 11/3!!! Hope everyone gets it soon, too.:)

I just got my copy of Leopard today also (ADC Student Member) plus the dev kit for November. However, I didn't get Leopard Server even though the e-mail said I would be getting Leopard Server also. Is this coming in a separate mailing?
