I think the flying is a mixture of broke and brilliant too. I mean it's really easy to take off, but holding A pauses you in mid-flight? And whats with the laser vision?

I love the flying! I think the controls are great for it! And what do you mean by laser vision? How do you do that!?

Swimming's a lot easier once I found out during my second playthrough that you can hold down the A button to swim at a steady rate underwater. Before, I was constantly pressing A or shaking to spin - yuck. It pays to talk to all the penguins, I guess. (Was it mentioned in the manual? Maybe I missed it.)

Has anybody rescued the missing Bros. on the second playthrough? Talk about surreal.

I have

Spoilers for who has not started the second playthrough
Two Luigi's? I was really hoping that he would save Mario for once...

i'm at 84 stars right now, and the game is still amazing. i am still trying to describe this game. i'm trying as hard as i can to collect all 120 stars first time through.

but one question though, i just rescued luigi from the (highlight for possible spoilers)good egg galaxy (with about 80 stars), and i'm wondering how to trigger the second letter at battlerock galaxy. i collected 4 stars since doing so and still nothing. thanks.

edit: okay, i got it, now at 88 stars. passed the green stars tests.

Most annoying Galaxy feature

I walk into my living room. I see the Wii glowing bright blue. What could it be? Nintendo telling me they finally have a Demo download service? Nintendo announcing Wii Ware store finally? Nintendo giving a new update that does something new to the news channel that I never look at?

No.

Its MailToad.

Thanking me for saving Luigi. Again.

Most annoying feature ever.

i noticed that too. pretty neat i think.

99 stars now. i think i can only get 104 stars max before rescuing peach, right?

The comet boards(speed run) is very crazy for a person like me(I'm a star bit whore:D ) just leaving all those coins and goodies around makes it feel like I haven't completed the stage...oh well I'll just go back and clean up.

I've held off comment even though I had the game a few days early. I wanted to make sure.

I really like this game...and I hated Mario 64. Hated the controls, the camera, the levels...everything. I really like Galaxy. There's flaws for sure...but it's a really solid title.

65 stars.
I put off the Dune Desert galaxy since I found it a little, well, rubbish at first. But it's ace! I really love the side view sections. A fantastic distraction from the rest of the game.

The final boss. Wow. (whited>)Nintendo can really make good final bosses. The level before hand was perfect too. Really had me on my toes. Especially the "full pipe" area!

As I've said before - it's a crying shame we have to wait this long for such incredible games. I really hope we see a mini sequel on the DS using a scaled down engine.

And as for the comments about story. Sure it's no big hollywood thriller, but I wanted to know the rest of that damn book more than any giant space ring or Hyrule land story before it. really beautiful story right there.

Or using the New Super Mario Bros engine? Imagine applying those kinds of gravity effects to a 2D game.

Yoshi's Island had one boss fight on a world with gravity that you could run all the way around, I recall, and it was interesting.

Okay I can't get over how bad the swimming is...its really annoying plus the camera is not your friend underwater:mad:

I really hate the Sweet Sweet galaxy...It was short but I died at least 10 times on that level...reminds me too much of the moving levels in Mario Bros 3...with the music just to rub it in!:eek:

Swimming is fine, you just don't know how to play :p Seriously it's probably the best of what's been done. I don't think it's much different from the other Marios. I think I already said that in this thread...

Anyways, I'm up to about 70 stars, and just started the dome up top, forgot the name. I'm beginning to like this game a little more. It's getting a little more challenging. first 60 stars was a cakewalk, and very short. I wasn't very impressed with that. Good to see not all the Galaxies are like that.

I am not a Wii owner yet but I have been reading about SMG.

Can someone explain the controls please? I can’t seem to find anywhere on the internet that tells how you control Mario. You use the nun chuck right?
Do you think Wii will ever have a controller for lazy people that like to sit on the couch and play the games? Sometime I just want to sit and not have to swing my arm to make Link use his sword.

Sorry for dumb questions. I just need to know.

Please don't tell me you literally "swing" the remote.

Anywho. Bought the game at about 3pm on 11/13, got my $25 GC.

First played the game that night after getting home from work.

Completed the game with 120 stars on 11/20, at around 11pm.

So if my calculation is correct I spent pretty much a whole week with the game.

And the $25 GC game in handy when TRU had their B2G1 free sale a week afterwards. 3 games for $75USD. Holy ****.

I'm halfway through Super Mario Galaxy when the disc drive in my Wii died, just two days out of warranty. Nintendo gave me a $25 break off the $75 repair, but it will still take two weeks.

I'm so bummed.

That sucks about your drive. I'm curious, was your Wii kept vertically or horizontally?

I keep mine vertically, but will change it to a horizontal setup if it's better for the drive.

Even though the co-op mode is a bit cheese on this game, I found it rather entertaining, especially when playing with my cousin whom has never played a Mario game.

that was an easy level for me, got the star first try.

the molten daredevil comet was a whole different story, spent like an hour straight trying to clear that level. but the whole game is quite a challenge.

waiting to get re-chargable batteries before resuming play.
