I dunno, it only sold 250,000 copies in Japan in it's first week. Thats pretty damn low considerings it install base. Halo 3 sold ~3 million day one didn't it? And CoD4 (according to some analyst dudes) is on pace to sell 650,000 copies per system this week.
Maybe Nintendo NEEDS to market it more? Casual gamers (ie. the Wii's market) don't often buy games so Nintendo really needs to say "LOOK!!! MARIO!!!! BUY IT NOW!"

Not in Japan; Halo 3 sold 59,000 copies in the first week in Japan.
Also, has Mario been out the full week? Or just the end of the week?
Halo 3 did so well because of the US buyers.
True but still, Wii has millions of units in Japan whereas the 360 is barely over 500k. Besides, Halo isn't a Japanese style game so of course it won't sell well, Mario on the other hand...
250,000 units isn't that bad, just I expected a hell of a lot more for a Mario (and from all account amazing) title. NA sales will be awesome for it since everyone around here seems to be crapping themselves in wait![]()
I'm in a sarcastic mood.![]()
I beat Mario 64 on the N64 and DS, 100% like. But not Sunshine. I just lost interest at around 80 stars.
Yeah same here. I loved sunshine but some of the star challenges were just tedium and really frustrating.
I still play it now and again though. I still think it looks great today.
