If the game isn't showing up for you, clear the App Store cache. Tap the update button repeatedly about ten times, and it will reload. Then try again and it should be downloadable. :)

This is a useful hidden feature if you're having issues with the app store.

Nope. I can't even link my iPhone and iPad to the same Nintendo account. The helpful help says only one device can be linked at a time, so can't even swap between devices to play.

I've played through a few worlds on my iPhone and just tried it on my iPad now. I was able to link to my Nintendo ID on both devices. Actually, it's even fully synced level progress on both devices too.

Quick question - if I buy the $10 in-app purchase to unlock it, will that carry across all of my devices? I have an iPhone and an iPad, plus my kids have iPod touches.

I believe if you link your Nintendo account it will

Super Mario Run is now available on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, becoming the first official smartphone and tablet game to feature the iconic Nintendo character. The game is a free download with a $10 in-app purchase required to unlock all 24 courses spanning six worlds.

The classic endless runner is designed for one-handed gameplay. Mario runs forward automatically as players tap to jump, collect coins, pounce on Goombas, avoid obstacles, and reach the flagpole at the end of each course before the timer runs out. Ultimately, Mario must rescue Princess Peach from the infamous Bowser.

Mario automatically vaults over small obstacles, including Goombas, while players can tap over enemies to perform a vault jump. As the levels get more difficult, players will be tasked with performing long jumps, walking over blocks that launch Mario in a particular direction, and other challenges.

Mario can jump off walls and perform a number of stylish moves as players aim to collect pink or purple challenge coins along the way. Challenge coins are often placed near ledges or other difficult to reach areas, requiring an element of skill and precision to collect them all.

A challenge mode called Toad Rally allows players to compete with friends or strangers to see who can obtain the highest score. Players must collect coins and perform stylish moves as usual to attract the largest crowd of Toad spectators in order to win. There is no flagpole in this mode, so players keep running until time runs out.

Toad Rally requires Rally Tickets, which can be acquired in a variety of ways, such as clearing worlds or through bonus games in your own kingdom.

There is also a Kingdom Builder mode, enabling players to create their own kingdom and customize it using coins and toads gathered in Toad Rally, which become part of the kingdom. Placing certain buildings can unlock bonus mini-games and characters such as Luigi, Yoshi, and Toad.

Due to piracy and security concerns, Super Mario Run requires an internet connection to play. iOS devices must be connected to Wi-Fi or a cellular network during gameplay, largely ruling out usage on airplanes or subways. It is also a blow to SIM-less iPhone and iPod touch users when Wi-Fi is unavailable.

Super Mario Run signifies a change in stance for Nintendo, which for years refused to consider releasing its popular franchises such as Mario, Pokémon, and The Legend of Zelda on smartphones and tablets, instead limiting the titles to its own consoles such as the Wii and Nintendo 3DS.

Apple and Nintendo have been aggressively marketing the game since it was unveiled in September, with prominent App Store banners, teaser videos, and an on-stage demo on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Some analysts believe Super Mario Run could top summer phenomenon Pokémon Go in downloads, but not revenue.

Super Mario Run is rolling out now on the App Store in more than 151 countries. The game can also be demoed at Apple retail stores.

Is there any legitimate way to play this on the subway? I put the game on Airplane mode and it wouldn't load a level.

I tried the game out and already deleted it. I didn't like the constant running and the internet requirement. Personally I don't play mobile games enough to justify the 10 dollar price for the whole game. I am just glad that Nintendo has entered the mobile app environment and hopefully this app has enough success to keep them creating more apps.

It’s linked to the My Nintendo account, the Apple ID doesn’t matter. I just put it on both of my kids’ iPads using my Nintendo account. they have a different Apple ID than I do.

You wont' because you can only link one device at a time to the Nintendo account...

I dunno - I've been able to link it on multiple of my own devices, and will try with the kids when I get home. shaun3000 above mentioned that he's even done it on his kids' iPads with different Apple IDs.

Wait so you have to sign up and link. Nintendo account in order to restore the full purchase?

How did Apple allow them to get away with that?

I get a pop up - the Nintendo account you tried to link is already linked to another game account. Support code 804-3905.
Meh.

This not something Apple or Nintendo should be proud of. Its a joke.

Not being able to stop, go back, and hit or grab something you missed is completely counter to the Mario experience.
It's a different experience, just like Mario N64 was a different experience.

Having tried this as a Nintendo fan, I don't dig Mario automatically vaulting over enemies, with the challenge to merely "collect more coins". For the casual crowd nostalgic for Mario this could be a hit, but $9.99 is relatively high to unlock more levels.

Oh boy - I see what you're saying:

So if you link your Nintendo account on a second iOS device (even if it's still using your same Apple ID), then you'll have to quit the app before going back to play on the first device.

For ex: I was playing on my iPhone, with the account linked. Put the phone down, picked up iPad, installed the game, linked my account, and started playing. Picked the iPhone back up, and got the error above. If you tap ok, Mario Run just quits. If I quit it on my iPad, then I can open it again to play on my iPhone.

Yikes Nintendo.

I guess it won't be a good idea to use the same Nintendo ID on multiple devices for the kids.

It's a different experience, just like Mario N64 was a different experience.

Agreed. That's the thing about it - and Miyamoto has spoken about it, instead of just porting a traditional Mario game to a touch screen device, they wanted to create something truly designed for one handed play.

Have purchased the game. £7.99 in UK. Can add twitter friends no issues, but Facebook crashes the game. Add me on twitter jamie_30

Not sure how you've done that, I tried and was told already linked to another device and have found no way to even make the purchase transfer to the iPad. If I can't link the 2 I will be requesting a refund from apple an deleting this from both devices.

I'm really curious if the in app purchase is being transferred because of the nintendo ID or the Apple ID. Quite strange if Apple is allowing them to do the former.

Try quitting the game on the first device you were playing it on, and then attempt to link your nintendo ID on the second device.

And only a total fool would be surprised since these mechanics weee clearly shown in many demos, videos, reviews, and even on Fallon. There comes a point where it's your own fault for being uninformed.

Doesn't work in Lanscape. Failed Nintendo... Just like NES Classic...

You mean the console no one can find because they are selling so fast?
