Survey Finds Early Adopters of iPhone X Very Satisfied With All Features Except Siri

Does anyone actually use siri? lol

Every day. All day.

When you know what works, and works reliably, then you can count on it and use it regularly. It's when people go into the unknown that Siri disappoints. Siri is almost exclusively how I use my AppleWatch. It's exclusively how I use HomePod. Both work really well. On my iPhone, I use Siri for general questions instead of opening a browser and using Google search.

I hate being in the minority.

I downgraded to an 8 Plus. Face ID is horrible - I have poor eyesight and naturally hold my phone close, and I could never get in the habit of holding it far away enough for Face ID to pick up my face. More than 50% of the time I'm just entering my passcode - something I could have done on my first iPhone 4S.

Face ID is really bad. I believe there are people out there that really are satisfied with it. BUT, I believe that there are many, many people out there that are really not satisfied with it and are saying that they are.

Apple's lack of humility in their response is really unappealing.

Both as a user and an investor, I'm concerned that Apple isn't working on fixing this, or doesn't see it as a problem.

It's a fine start to a statement, but they should include something like, "We recognize some ways it could improve." or "We're working on making it even better." - just acknowledge that Siri is less than perfect.

Concerned they are not working on it ?? Didn't Apple just hire away the top AI guy at Google. And from what I have read they are on a hiring spree for engineers with AI experience. I think they are not only working on it but working on it very hard. But it will take time and we will unfortunately have to be patient.

I just can't believe so many people prefer FaceID over TouchID! Wearing glasses? Enter your code; Lying in bed? Enter your code; Eating with your mouth full? Enter your code; In a hurry and don't aim the screen perfectly at your face? Enter your code! Sure, FaceID does work most of the time, but TouchID was orders of magnitude more reliable, and difference becomes very noticeable when you consider how many times you unlock your phone each day.

Is picking up your phone, positioning it in front your face, taking a selfie and swiping up really more convenient than just pressing the home button?

I can't help feeling that if it was TouchID that had just been released to replace FaceID, everyone would be screaming about an update actually worth having!

Correct on all accounts.

But... but.... MacRumors members insisted it'd be a failure at such a price and no one would buy it.

?? It is a disappointment. Demand has been soft and below expectations.

Also, FaceID is garbage and everyone I know who has an X (including me) just wants TouchID. It doesn’t work with a lot of sunglasses. I have to stare at the damn thing from certain angles for it to work. Etc.

Siri works a hell of a lot better on the iPhone X than it did on the iPhone 6. But it still has major issues. That being said, I love everything else about my iPhone X except the camera. I hate the noise reduction added to most shots. HATE IT!!!

Well, they’re not wrong. The only things I regularly use Siri for are reminders. “Remind me to [do whatever] [at a specific time or place]” or “Add [something] to my shopping list”. That’s pretty much it.

Occasionally I’ll use the “navigate to” or “set a timer” commands, but everything else is near useless to me.

“Here’s what I found for [question you asked] on the web”.........

I use it all the time, probably at least 80% of these everyday. Hey Siri has become so much better since the iOS 8 days as well.

- Play the News in the morning
- Add calendar appointments
- Location based reminders
- App based reminders
- Cooking timers
- Occasionally the weather
- HomeKit accessories
- Play/Skip forward podcasts
- FaceTime
- Setting Alarms

As smart as Google Assistant and Alexa are, if I had them I would still be using the same functions more or less.

You believe that there are many, many people out there who agree with and support your point of view, but are lying and saying they don't, when there is no benefit to them in doing so? How convenient (and yet probably terribly frustrating) for you. On an entirely unrelated topic, which brand of tin foil do you recommend for hats?

To be honest, the only example that you provide that I'd agree with is using FaceID in bed. The rest, as far as FaceID is concerned, I chalk up to ISTBY. C'est la vie.

Really. Battery life is ****. Cross country flight non stop and had to charge as soon as I got to the hotel. Didn't use it much just some background music listening on the flight. This is pitiful.

Surprise surprise. Siri's always been trash ever since Apple aped it from the App Store and their asinine privacy "stance" is directly to blame.

You must only need one timer at a time?

Nope, I don't have to repeat myself. Once in awhile in the car, it may miss a word, but otherwise, I have the same number of failers with Siri as I do with the Echo.
You are very lucky my friend. For me, Siri correctly interprets 50% of my commands. Alex interprets close to 80% of my commands. The only thing Siri does better is music commands.

Thing is, I actually AM shocked. Not because Siri doesn’t suck. But because normally no one really admits it. There’s usually nothing beyond annocdotes on message boards like this.

Apple really really needs to work on Siri, and it can’t even rely on some manufactured satisfaction rate to show that everything’s fine and dandy
What's weird is I feel like it's getting worse. Sometimes it just completely forgets what is going on. I'll ask it to add something to my shopping list and it'll say "Sorry macduke, I couldn't find any reminder list matching 'Shopping'" and I'll ask it again and it'll say "OK, I added it to your Shopping list:". Or the other day it completely forgot my front door was connected through HomeKit. I'd say "Hey Siri, unlock the front door" and it said twice on my Watch and once on my iPhone that I haven't setup ANY HomeKit accessories (I have a few). On the fourth try (second on iPhone) it unlocked the front door, but it unlocked it instantly and then spun for 30 seconds before giving the success message when I was already sitting on my couch. BTW, I never have trouble with HomeKit stuff communicating because they're all fairly close together, including the Apple TV 4 hub. It has also started having trouble understanding me more, where it was nearly flawless for a couple years there.

"How your iPhone looks" "How your iPhone feels in your hand" pretty vague questions. Not surprised at the results.

interesting, given these questions i'd basically be 6 times totally satisified plus faceId being meh, siri being who uses that, portrait mode being what is that and portrait selfies being who cares.
however i am mostly dissatisfied because ultimately it's an iphone 8 with everyhing blown up by 10%. shame on me for preordering on day one.
got my wife an iphone se afterwards because we agreed that it's basically the same except the camera & viewing pictures/games/vids (otherwise the iphone x's bigger screen is just wasted) plus it has touchId & an audio jack...
