Surveys Show Pent-Up Demand for Verizon iPhone, Would-Be AT&T Defectors Waiting to Upgrade

Im with you. Verizon has been no better for me in baltimore!

What are the amount of people being surveyed in this survey anyways? i dont remember getting asked these questions as an ATT iphone owner :)

1000 users. Too low. Can be cooked easily.

Personally I want Sprint's pricing. But any competition will force the carriers to be competitive with their plans. We all win.

Come on Apple. Let competition take off in the cell market place.

SIMULTANEOUS VOICE AND DATA = NO - oh lets see, Verizon can't do that. Why would Apple build and iPhone that lacks such a highly demanded feature. T-Mobile will get the iPhone first. I am willing to bet on that.

How much?

Options and competition will only help users.
I can't stand AT&T (in Los Angeles) - but I will need to verify if Verizon on the iPhone is any better. If it is - why would I not switch?

I have been a non-believer regarding a CDMA Verizon phone but pray this rumor comes to fruition. The more ATT users that defect to Verizon means more bandwidth for me. I have no reason to leave ATT now, or when my contract ends unless Verizon is going to provide value, which I doubt it will.

I would not switch to Verizon until I heard feedback from early adopters to see if their network can handle the iPhone. For example maybe Verizon can handle voice better but not so good with 3G data transfers. It is still a mystery until the floodgates are opened with tons of iPhones on both networks.

Verizon offers dual-band Blackberries so that they work all over the world. Is it possible for them to have a dual-band iPhone?

I like AT&T too.
It'd be more interesting if they asked who these users would move to if they had a choice with the iphone: AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint or unlocked.
I am interested in that breakdown as well, if people has a choice of all 4 carriers where would they go.

Can't open the pdf so maybe this is already answered, but more than VZ I'd be curious how well Sprint and T-Mobile would poll for the iPhone. Call me a naysayer, but I really think Sprint and maybe T-Mobile are next in line for the iPhone. I think VZ is going in hard for Android and I think Sprint and T-Mobile would be more willing to accept Apple's conditions.

In fact offering the phone to every other major carrier could also pressure VZ into caving into more compliant to Apple demands (whatever they may be).
I think that Sprint gets the iPhone before Verizon. Sprint has nothing to lose by going hard after the iPhone, they can't lose anymore subscribers then they already have and they could really pick up a lot of market share if they get the iPhone. It would be Sprints last stand, it either pays off big for them or completely makes the company irrelevant.

My friend Bill is getting married in California this Saturday, and he forgot some stuff in his apartment that he needs me to bring to him when I fly out there later this week.

(as a word of background, we both have iPhones on AT&T).

Last night, and also this morning, he called my cell phone to work out what he forgot. I want to make sure I get everything he needs, but AT&T sucks so bad, both in New York and San Diego, that I'm not sure if I heard him right. He either needs me to bring his "iPad Dock" or his "Eye Mat Ock" or his "hi hat lock"!

What i'm saying is, all cellular telephones, but especially iPhone on AT&T, completely suck. If I had more time, I'd tell you how my girlfriend missed out on a job because of iPhone's visual voicemail malfunctioning.

YOU'RE MAKING ME LONG FOR THE DAYS WHEN I HAD A PAGER ON PAGENET!!!

:apple::apple::apple::apple::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I have a simple solution for everyone in this story.

Ready for it?? Okay.

GET A DIFFERENT PHONE. If you have so many problems with your iPhones, sell them for a profit and get a different phone. It's really not that big of a deal.

kaythxbye.

The idea is tempting, but the thought of dealing with another carrier makes my skin crawl. I agree as people jump ship AT&T will be better able to handle its customer base. So as people leave and competition increases it is strongly hoped AT&T will get better. If they are not able to improve then by all means it will be time to move to a new carrier.

Nope. Sprint won't get the iPhone at all. Why? Glad you asked. Their 4G is WiMax. They are the only company that I know of that uses that tech and aggressively pushing its deployment. Most of the world is moving to LTE, including Verizon. If Sprint were to move towards LTE, then I would say that Spring may get it first. However since they are going their own separate route, they are only isolating themselves.

I can't stand AT&T..I'm tried of using a beta product. I will either go to verizon or if I hear the service sucks there I will chuck the iphone in Q1/Q2 cause I'm sick of the poor reception...I actually just returned my iphone V4....too many dropped calls and I don't like Apple's response

I agree. I just don't understand the big deal with Verizon. Their network is slower, no concurrent voice/data access, no rollover minutes, and it is more expensive.

In most places, Verizon's network is always available, its speeds are consistent (and for years were faster than ATT's), and prices are virtually the same.

Rollover minutes often simply mean you overpaid for your service, since they'll never get used.

For many people, having solid voice calls and data connectivity is the most important factor, which is due in large part to not combining voice and data together.

I work in the NYC area where Verizon is king. When we have a critical conference call and someone keeps dropping out because they're on AT&T, no one says, "Oh it's okay because he's using a cool iPhone." Quite the opposite, in fact.

The grass is always greener...

Im on the Verizon grass here in the Philly , PA area and numerous co-workers and friends have ATnT . They drop calls , I dont. They have crappy reception. I don't .

I bought the first iPhone , dropped calls for the first time ever over and over in the first week. Went back to the Verizon grass. Still green over here.

I'm committed to AT&T as far as not wanting to pay for early termination. I bet service improves noticeably when the Verizon iPhone comes out as the stress on the AT&T network decreases. Hopefully.

Exactly!!
If my phone service was great I would not switch but my phone service is
subpar and the closest 3g is 100 miles away.
It is very frustrating to have lousy phone service when you use it for work and you have to wait until the next day sometimes to get your voicemail!!
Funny attitude from the ATT lovers, if the service was great why would anyone switch?
Competition is a good thing!

I think you're overestimating Sprint's commitment to WiMax over LTE. Sprint is looking to set itself apart from the pack. WiMax is available now, and it offers some good numbers on paper. Being the first "4G" carrier sounds really good in adverts. However even Hesse has said that Sprint remains open to LTE in the future. Which leads me to believe that LTE is coming to Sprint at some point.

I still think Sprint needs Apple which makes it an attractive partner to Apple. Same goes with T-Mobile. Imagine VZ being the only major carrier without the iPhone.

And this was news? You didn't a poll to get these results. After visiting several pro-Apple blogs and forums you can kind of gage how many folks will defect from AT&T to Verizon if/when this happen. I, for one, will not. Instead I'm going to sit back and reap the benefits of the reduction of users on the network when it happens, while everyone else taps that Verizon network's a88. :D:p

Steve has a long memory

Verizon will be LAST....Steve will assure that. T-Mobile is next (already GSM), then Sprint just to spite Verizon.

Verizon refused the first opportunity to get the iPhone (I bet in hindsight that Apple was glad that they did....they ditched they CDMA iPhone and were able to create a GSM based iPhone and sell it globally).

Potential Verizon iPhone Customers beware: Better buy a second cell phone for that trip to Europe!

Yeah, not sure I'll pay for early termination as I've got 2 phones.
Att has even said itself that they don't think people will switch because most are on family plans. Sooo ATT think they've got us eh?
Don't be so sure ATT, I'm pretty close to switching now and the verizon iphone aint even out yet!!

In my area, Verizon does actually have better coverage, but not drastically better.

Im pretty happy with AT&T to be honest, wish they had more plan selections and that the Iphone data plan wasn't so dang expensive.
